On the SP2X the sound dynamic range is excellent, reaching full DAC line outs signal swing. The secret on good sounding quality is not related to the amount of ROM samples SP2X use only 16Mb (32 uncompressed). To reach sounding quality the dynamic range (DR) reproduction on each patch is crucial. The piano samples quality from harmonics content are not superb, but the dynamic range (volume variation on all notes velocities) is excellent and that whats matters here. In a PCM keyboard if the sampling session is improperly realized with to much compression and poor dynamic range or design issues on the DAC circuit stages, the final sound quality will be affected.
@SirSprayAlot112 i have the same keyboard and there are no speakers included, i use bose computer speakers and they work fine for my purposes (not playing out often).. great keyboard though, i'd recommend it!
I've gone thru 3 SP76's and am tired of MIDI-ing them so I can split piano (right hand) and bass (left). Does the SP2 permit you to split the keyboard, assigning internal sounds to the 2 zones? (If so, I curious if there's a ride cymbal that can be layered on to the bass.) If so, the SP2 is my next keyboard--unless I can be convinced that the piano sounds of the PC3 are dramatically better.
Ten years ago, this video convinced me to buy the SP2X. Great Job!
how is/was the action? compared to yamaha? heavy? light
i have a cp33 and the action is very heavy so i might switch
