I’ve never had something this egregious happen but did have a person try and say I sent an open item that was listed as new and sealed which it was. He had opened it and stole a card out of it and then requested a return. I remember how awful that felt and could only imagine the stress this imposed on you. Watching this video and hearing you reflect on how you acquired and submitted some of these cards was a great feeling! So happy it worked out for you!!!

I had someone try that with me, got ebay involved, conference call to buyer. Listened to his BS, and then I said to ebay, where do I send the video of the packaging of the order, sealing of the package and hand off to the clerk at the PO. I an used to doing things like this used to send classified mail to the government twice a week. The switched item magically was the right one

You can definitely sue a company for doing illegal things, even if their policy says you can't. The illegal activity on eBay behalf here would be violating their own terms of service in order to aid felonious financial transactions on their platform

This has nothing to do with eBay once they do a chargeback eBay has to play by the rules of the credit card. They will not reimburse in a case this large, no selling site will offer you seller protection for over $2500

Ebay is simply not in favor of the seller anymore they are with the buyer 100% of the time. With a buyer 100% money back guarantee for any reason. It's no wonder scammers are getting away with everything. You are lucky he did not just send back a couple bricks and then have proof the package came back to you. I guess the real question is are you going to relist the set back on Ebay? I mean on top of all of this you are also out the sellers fees that I assume was $200-$300 or did it ship it back through Ebay?
Moral of story and eBay if you watch this don't do high end card business on eBay until they fix the system. Use Goldin/other high end auction houses or go to shows. EBay doesn't protect sellers and most sellers have quit the site especially high end card selling boxes/packs/sets.

Unlike eBay you send the card to them when it's not certified so eBay doesn't protect you. If they get the card that is certified eBay still protects you as the seller unless you committed fraud.

Any collectible cards over 5k should be sent automatically to 3rd party for verification as eBay does for watches over 3-5k before end user receives
