      25 years ago my first car 86 Toyota celica owned it for about 2 years always ran great. Was headed out to a ski trip and my mom took my car to Walmart to have the oil changed for me before I left the next morning. Never thought about checking the oil before I left the next morning it was just changed! Made it almost 200 miles going up the mountains with absolutely zero oil!!! Completely melted and welded the crank rod bearings. Walmart tried to say it must have burned the oil. Then we sued and they accused us of deliberately draining the oil in court. The judge laughed at them and gave us the judgment.

    I called it in the last video on this car. You have a semi commercial vehicle with 177K city miles on a CVT transmission. I'd be surprised if this was the car's first one. But you did get to get greasy, play with the scan tool, and it kept you off the streets for awhile. Ok well, unless you count laying in the street or on the side of thee road. At least you didn't have to walk home this time lol.

    • @McBuggs.
      @McBuggs. 15 дней назад +9

      I was thinkin' the same thing, those CVT transmissions do not age very well. Then my second guess was Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF).
      Edit: The average lifespan of a CVT transmission is around 100,000 miles, but it can vary depending on how well it is maintained and how often it is used.
      Assuming that you need to have a complete transmission replacement on your Chevy Spark, you can expect to pay anywhere from $1,500-$3,000 for parts and labor. (This is an estimate, as costs may very depending on your status.)
      The Chevy Spark is a subcompact car that has been in production since 2012. The transmission problems with this car have been well documented, and there are many complaints online about these issues. Chevy has issued a few recalls for the Spark due to these transmission problems, but they continue to occur.
      Drivers have reported issues with the car jerking, lurching, and hesitating while driving. These issues can be very dangerous, and they often occur without warning.

    Those CVT transmissions are crappy as they are the same ones Nissan used. You need the change the fluid with a special cvt fluid every 30k miles or they will die pre maturely.
    You probably have no maintenance records to see if it was done on time if ever. I really doubt what you are doing or planning on doing is going to be a permanent fix, it may be better for a little while but I am afraid the damage already done is just going to get worse.
    I hope I am wrong but based on my experience with those cars I am betting I am right.

    That 100% definitely a fault with the CVT transmission, it also likely bump forward as well when you stop. I rebuilt a few of those transmissions and it a very common problem I seen myself to many times over the years. Thankfully not to hard to remove to do a rebuild. Most don’t realize you suppose to change CVT fluid every 30k if you want them to last. Due to metal that build up over time with these otherwise.
    Now with these yes it still will have metal in it if fluid changed often as well as how they wear. Reason fluid need to be changed every 30k. That fluid hasn’t been changed in a while as that pretty bad, sure be light brown greenish in color.

  • @glanphear588
    @glanphear588 15 дней назад +2

    That big bolt on the bottom of the transmission pan is there to know when you add enough fluid, (it's not a drain the transmission plug.) Basically, you use it know when the transmission is full as the vehicle is running You unscrew that and it should just be a little dribble coming out. That indicates the transmission needs fluid or drain until it a very light fluid coming out, if it's rushing out, you let it drain until it's a dribble. As i previously described, then you screw it back tight, and that lets you know. The transmission is full. Or you continue to add until you see a little bit coming out. A light and constant dribble. Indicate it's full. That's how CVT transmission are designed So you don't overfill or underfill the transmission.

Your basically washing out the transmission of film n built up deposits that will make the unit fail quicker. Cvt transmissions in cars usually don't work out good. It uses a power split device. There is a planetary gear set. Engine is on the planetary carrier, motor 1 is on the sun gear and motor 2 with the wheels are connected the the ring gear.
      Motor 1 is used to start the engine, generate electricity, and set engine rpm.

Robins typically lay varius shades of blue eggs but can sometimes lay green eggs. Those green eggs looked larger than robin eggs, though. Green herons have a longer beak than robins, and their chests are closer to brown, but with a slightly orange tint. They kind of look like they have a black Mohawk with a greenish tint, with the green tint more noticeable toward the back of their head.

    Forward planning !!!!!!!!!!

    Yeah the GM dealer told me the same thing " Trans is sealed no need to change the fluid" had GM not given dog crap advice on these they would probably last a lot longer with regular fluid changes every 30k miles.

    I had a 76 Dodge Colt that had the transmission from hell. This brought back memories. It died so many times I got to know the AAMCO guys in 3 cities. Thank God for lifetime warranty. When I traded it in they called me a few weeks later and said the transmission blew up. I freaked when my 85 Toyota had black metal fluid and shifted into N on R hand turns. I had transmission prob with my explorer and my Ford Ranger. I really feel for you. I still freq check the fluid. I hate that sploosh sound the pink fluid does when it blows. I said a little.prayer for you. Take care.

    Found this online:
    Originally 2014 Sparks came with transmission software that was always shifting to the low gear, causing shocks, resulting in premature belt and pulley metal wear. An update was issued for CVT firmware to prefer staying in high gear on deceleration (PI1309). 2015+ Sparks are coming with this update preinstalled.

    These horrors were sold as Dihatsu and even Chery, the joke car of the 21st Century. But this from Wiki shows us why you are so happy to buy it....anything modified by Roush and only 2 grand has to be a bargain!.:
    "...Domino's DXP
    The Domino's DXP (short for "Delivery eXPert") is a version 2015 Spark marketed in the U.S., which was customized by Roush Performance for Domino's Pizza where it was converted to a revival of a canopy express vehicle which was popular from the 1930s to the 1950s. Based on the mid-level 1LT trim of the Spark, the front and rear passenger seats are removed and replaced with storage compartments that can carry 80 pizzas, two 2-liter bottles of soda, and dipping sauces. The left rear passenger door is converted into a warming oven that can only be unlocked with the key fob or a button within the driver's door frame. The Spark's Chevrolet front grille is replaced with a custom-made black front grille with the "Domino's" logo, as well as a custom lower body kit, and all DXP cars have a custom Domino's-themed vinyl wrap with a lighted Domino's roof topper.
    Production is limited to less than 200 units and once each car reaches 100,000 miles, it will be retired and returned to Roush, where it will be restored to stock form and sold as a used Spark (all four factory seatbelts and airbags are left fully intact, and covered by plastic panels).[55][56][57] Despite the intentions of Domino's to eventually retire the DXP and leave none remaining, several wrecked DXPs have been salvaged by private individuals with the intention of retaining them as rare cars when the rest of the fleet is retired. The situation has resulted in threatened legal action by a Domino's franchisee...."

    CVT transmissions are the biggest mistake in car manufacturing since plastic valve retainers. Pure junk, likely on purpose for planned obsolescence. Most transmission shops don’t even touch them and will only replace with a new one if they do it at all. That usually results in a repair bill more than the car is worth.
    Best thing to do at this point is junkyard hop for one and hope you can get one with some life left in it and swap it. A crashed car “usually” means it was drivable when crashed. If it’s sitting there not crashed, it may be the same problem you’re facing now.

    Its either a dirty fiter, or the pressure switch/bypass has failed and is bypassing causing low pressure. Which would cause the surge and lack of gears.
    Restarting the engine resets the pressure bypass

    Install an inline filter between the transmission and the cooler to catch transient contamination that can cause solenoids and valves to stick
