Minute 7:46 It Is not a minor contact ! Defensive foul ,observe the left arm of the player holding the antecubital elbow to don't let him jump! And also with new application of the cilinder rule ,as referee we have to calculate time and distance and act of shooting .

Both players arms are locked up. White jumps early and arms get unlocked. Nothing has happened, no one gained possession and it is a situation that does not need a whistle on. Nothing really happened. Grey reaches out of cylinder to play the ball. Arms do not contact, only the bodies are still in contact. Height and reach is not going to be penalized for making a play on the ball. You can even argue that white slightly jumps backward. Either case, this would be very minor contact that does not require an interruption of game flow to make the call.
Side note: Any new rule changes or additions still work in cooperation with the spirit of the game and advantage/disadvantage.
      Thank you for your comment!

@@refereeuniversity Both arms ? Who started the contact? Before to become a Ref I was a pro Player ,4-5 . All the time luckily Good ref called that foul,it is an old trick ,no many Refs could see it . Not allow to jump could be intercepted as intentional so UF???All is about perspective. No other images to evaluate from the other side lead position , as center it seems a defensive foul for holding and trapping the offensive . Nba Is not Fiba . Tricky fouls needs to be discriminated, it is delivering disadvantages.

@@do.mbarone759 I can appreciate your perspective on the matter. Players create contact all the time. Since you provided additional information, I will as well :) I played pro as well and I am the player in the clip. I know exactly what happened that game and on that play, I know what is called in the league and I currently referee University basketball. The lead official is a FIBA official who has reffed at the olympics and is one of the best officials in Canada. It is very possible it might have been missed or should be a foul. However, all parties must have seen it as minor contact since it was not called. Experienced players use tricks that are grey area or tip toe that line of if a foul should be called or not. If our arms get tangled off ball for 1 to 2 seconds, are you calling a double foul? It all depends, flow of game, accidental contact, minor contact. Did you address it with your voice? The rule book is to be used in accordance of spirit of the game to maintain flow and control on the game. However, it is possible these might turn into plays where we want quicker whistles on which could have been a point of emphasis over in your pro league. Just to be clear, different levels and leagues look for different things. Screens tend to have more flexibility in the NBA and pro leagues opposed to university or lower leagues. Videos are just here to illustrate what grey area looks like and some calls may be seen differently elsewhere. Thanks for the conversation! Appreciate your view!

@@refereeuniversity Me too ,I appreciate your reply . So,could I ask you which number are you in the video ? Anyone can make errors , nobody is perfect . As pivot and someone grab my hand to don't let me jump ,to don't react is difficult . That's why the offender grab the other hand , important is to pick and have clear image where the foul start and who generate it. Double foul sure ,if they react not correctly but place attention if that foul get called you will have no reactions .And more ,is the player receive the ball ,there will be 2 shoots(disadvantages for offender) . Imaginating what could happen after and anticipating the play. The mode and the way that defender acted cannot be modified. Sure in Pro League this kind of tricky(ghost) contact create also fights btw players . Probably lead referee had 4 players covering the contact as I could watch from the stop of the image .I love your video they are very supportive and useful . I would like to reflect ... In my training they always invited us to don't call the fouls that the other Referee ,they haven't never called you . I get called so many times that kind of tricky foul in Italy and in EU . So I would be helpful to let you know. And maybe we could have the big pleasure to Ref together ,maybe one day . Never say never !;)

Grey 12 :) Yes, if someone grabbed your hand that prevented you from jumping to attain the ball, it needs to be called. However, if the offensive player is holding and does not receive the ball, the contact can potentially be ignored or passed on. Which all depends on the flow of the game and what is occurring. It is funny that you mentioned that trick because I learned it as a young player playing against older players in the league and pro players. Referees tend not to call it. I believe it falls under their own understanding of advantage/disadvantage paired with the flow of the game on if they will call it. I agree that it is a trick used and I have used it to my benefit before :) However, in this play, I remember white 8 locking with my arms (we were jousting and held each other) and once it was released, I was able to tip the ball. Great point that the referee could have missed it but the reason I though he might not have is because this type of holding/jousting occurred in the game with very little penalty.
P.S. The minor contact I was referring to was on the tipping of the ball and not the arm lock. The minor contact between our bodies. I am agree with you that those holding of arms affect the game and I am guilty for doing it when I played :) Always looking for an advantage as a player and learned from the vets of the game!

7:32 looks more like an offensive foul, pushing on number 14

both players make contact on the rebound, 14 locks up the other players arm.
