When he faked the heart attack on the outside....I legit thought it was a shoot and I guarantee Taker, Foley and Brett on the outside thought so as well. You could see Taker having anxiety through the whole thing. He wasn't even looking at the match, he was just looking at the floor, wide-eyed and tense.

This should be a strong lesson for Taker in if you know your body cannot do what it used to, don't tempt fate and end up like Ric.. Oh wait, there was the Saudi Arabia debacle and the Roman Reigns match. Take the hint Taker, please don't go back because you were most likely looking at a harsh reality about yourself. For those of us who grew up on 80's wrestling and the Horsemen era, this match - while it was fun for what it was intended to be - was a sobering reminder of the fact that father time and mother nature are undefeated. His hands started shaking earlier than the superplex. There's a point you can see from the fancam footage about 15 minutes in. he's on the apron and starts looking at his hands in a really disturbing manner completely ignoring the double down in the ring. The ref has to go over to him and remind him he needs to come in to interfere and he takes forever going under the middle rope to do so then Jay Lethal bounces through a dozen flips and spots while Flair hits the weakest chops ever seen.

For this to be Ric's last match, and more importantly the end of the 24/7 "Nature Boy" kayfabing, he needs people around him to care about the man, not the nostalgia act. Poor guy needs help. He takes no pleasure or happiness in anything else, and has no self worth outside the ring. 40 years of doing the same habitual behavior needs to be broken, but too many leeches and enablers get caught up in the facade.

I can imagine Mick Foley wanting to do a last match at 80 with Taker throwing him off the top of the cage except this time instead of falling on the announce table he gets thrown into a casket and they bury him live in front of the audience. Mick's last match/ funeral. Two birds with one stone.

Your imagination is faulty. Foley has been retired since 2012.

Foley would then go on Twitter and bury WWE.

And then Vince McMahon will have a last match where Lesnar gives him an F5 into the Grand Canyon.

It was kind of sad to watch. Flair was one of the greatest of all time and his last match was... bad. Bad and scary to watch. But, at least he did it. He would have been better off leaving his career on the Michaels match, but after he went to TNA he didn't want to have his last match be that one against Sting (appropriate as that would have been for a final opponent) on a random episode of Impact. So even if the match was not what he would have hoped, at least he put a full stop at the end of his career. I'm constantly sad that Mick Foley never got a proper retirement match (his last in-ring appearance was his participation in Royal Rumble 2012 before doctors wouldn't clear him any more), and it's a disappointment that Triple H never got one either before his heart betrayed him, when every wrestling legend should have a proper retirement match, so at least Ric got to wrestle 'Ric Flair's Last Match'.

Flair got his retirement match and then couldnt stick to it, like nearly every wrestler in history. They always keep going too long, only Steamboat knows how to stay retired.

Literally everyone you mentioned stayed for too long for selfish reasons. That's why their ending was bad. Leave when you're ahead don't wait to go down. Look at Rock/Stone Cold/Cena/Batista/Michaels. They all left before the wheels went out and it helped them have a better legacy

Its not about career. Its about money. Flair will always spend any money he gets and always need more money. And if he needs money, he is going to figure out some wrestling way to get it.
This isn't going to be the last of these retirement matches. He will keep doing them as long as he can get money from them.
