Enjoyed your video. I love my SCX10. I have the links and relocated my battery to the front. Relocating the battery made a world of difference in the performance. Keep up the good work.
Awesome! Im glad you liked the video! And i was going to re locate my battery up front as well. But i do have a plan on installing a second battery in the front end to power all of my lights and the new winch that i have coming for it. So hopefully i should see some better traction up hills after that. Thanks again man!
Hey no problem. I remembered, you had asked for a parts list before. So i did my best to come up with it for yo,u and everyone else! Thanks for watching i really apricieat it!
Just a quick upgrade is to put the battery in the front. It keeps it from flipping backwards on steep hills.it is simple I did it to mine to it is in the booklet that comes with scx10.
Gear Head RC 2.2 Five Star EZ-Loc Beadlock Wheels and RC4WD Interco IROK 2.2 Super Swamper Scale Tires, running a 2400Kv Castle creations motor with a sidewinder 3 ESC. I also use the HPI Tx & Rx Low cost and plenty available on EBay!
These are great videos Matt and you're really funny too! Thank you for taking the time to help newbies like me. I truly appreciate all of your thoughtful insight, ideas and inspiration. I'd love to have a truck like yours, a few questions. What ESC do you like best? When you guys talk about waterproofing these ESC's in balloons, I'm assuming that you use tool handle rubberized coating at the end of the balloon where the wires come out? I thought they ran hot? How would you approach a build if you could do it again ? The last r/c car I had was a kyosho inferno 7.5 and I've been on the sidelines for 10 years. It looks like the streering linkages need to go right away. I looked into motors too and I find the model choices confusing. I looked up your model of motor and the pictures don't look the same.Thank you so much. Matt
Thank you so much! it really means a lot to hear people say that! now lets see if I can answer some of those questions for you.1 - "What ESC do you like best?" -Well I am still a newb myself, so unfortunately I haven't had much opportunity to test out any other ESC's other then the Stock Axial ESC that came with the truck. But so far I am really happy with the way it operates.2 - " When you guys talk about waterproofing these ESC's in balloons, I'm assuming that you use tool handle rubberized coating at the end of the balloon where the wires come out? I thought they ran hot?" -When it comes to waterproofing the ESC I actually plasti-dip the circuit board and leave the heat sink fins exposed. Plasti -dip is a liquid rubber that comes in a can, that you can get at most hardware stores. Leaving the fins exposed allows for any heat produced by the ESC to escape without any problems. I do how ever use a balloon for the receiver and Axial Simple LED Controller that I have put inside the receiver box. I then tie of the end of the balloon with 2-3 zip ties.3 - "How would you approach a build if you could do it again" - Honestly I don't know....Each build has its own unique approach. It would really depend on what the purpose for the next truck would be for. But I would probably start off with upgrading the plastic 3 way control links that come stock to the Solid 4 way control link kit made by Axial. ( In my opinion, that is the number 1 upgrade all Axial SCX-10 owners should do first!)4 - "I looked into motors too and I find the model choices confusing. I looked up your model of motor and the pictures don't look the same" - My Motor is the basic Teken 35 Turn Brushless motor. If I do remember correctly Teken I has recently released its Teken 35 Turn HD motor, witch may be what you keep seeing. I did purchase my motor from CKRCcrawler.com. You should see it right away when looking it up in the motors section.-Thanks again for watching! Hopefully I have answered your question, and if you have anymore please feel free to let me know!
+RC Overload upgraded mine as well, added axials icon shocks, aluminum links ax30550, added nvs, and led lights and axials light bar set. i also change my servo to savox SA1231 SG. and still lot of things to upgrade. it is almost a full option scx10.
+Jim Doss Haha They are a lot of fun! I my self am very much into full size jeeps and off roading. however were I live they have cracked down hard on off road trailing (1:1 sized) So for now this is a great alternative for my self!
Hey Matt I know you have updated the scx10 with your new version along with upgrades but the 90mm shocks from hot racing actually perform really well as seen in this video. You now have the king 100 mm shocks which do you prefer? I like the way the kings look but the hot racing performed well. I like a little more bounce but I want to get the king shocks 90mm what weight of oil do you prefer to get that kind of performance?
I love the look of the rig but my stock scx10 dingo with 55T motor does everything you've done and a hell of a lot more, to be honest most of those upgrades seem like a waste of money...
+Moto Tayls I have the Dingo with the 55T. Anyone who owns the Dingo knows it's shortcomings. It badly needs the four link conversion. I did it on the rear and it made a big difference, better performance and no more Y-link popping off the axle. I'm going to do the front as well. The Four link alone is well worth it.
The Rok Lox you're running. Are those the 1.9 or 2.2's? I'm about to build a Rubi which will be everything but standard. But i am in doubt about the tires. Your's look ok for size.
John Dev I have had a lot of people ask me for an upgrade list. unfortunately I don't have one right now...but im considering doing a video were I list every thing I have done
I NEED HELP WITH WATER IN TYRES!!! I am going to be getting some RC4WD Rok Lox 40 series tyres for my summit, along with some 40 series plastic bead lock rims from RC4WD. Will this keep out the water from my tyres? Do bead locks in general keep the water out of your tyres? Or just those Axial ones? Please answer i really need to know, its one of the reasons I'm buying new tyres for my summit, i don't want it to happen again. Thanks.
Bead locks have nothing to do with anything except the fact the tires are secured to the rims by bolts and not glue. To fix a water in tire problem simply drill holes in your tires (1 or 2) on the summit. Centrifugal force qill push the water to the outside and let it come out.
Lars W Gjethammer Not yet. All of my videos up till now are with the battery still in back. However im currently working on doing some changes to it and moving the battery up front it one of those changes.
+jpaugh4 They actually don't run off of pressure. they have foams in them and yes you can get different foams to change around the softness of the tires.

Thanx man that would help a lot of newbs like me
GMade Zero Shocks 104 mm work awesome! I have them on all my trail trucks!
Thanks for the parts list! Super helpful! Love your series.

Hey man.. more movies with you crawling!! 💪💪💪 thx for what you done. Help me alot!

You did good buddy. Very informative and clear. Thanks. Very nice jeep!!!👍
Thanks man, that was my goal. I want to help others so they can make the right choices on their own rigs anyways.

My Jeep operates like a real Jeep, too. WAIT! Mine IS a real Jeep! :-)
It does look fun, though.
+Jim Doss Haha They are a lot of fun! I my self am very much into full size jeeps and off roading. however were I live they have cracked down hard on off road trailing (1:1 sized) So for now this is a great alternative for my self!

It is pronounced 'axial' like 'axeeeaal' not axle

1967illya Those are 1.9's
RCoverload Thanks Mat!
No problem man.
Nice video. Your bumpers are the rc4wd rampage ones?
Reflective Window Cleaning Inc yes
Wheres the list of your upgrades?
I want to upgrade mine
John Dev I have had a lot of people ask me for an upgrade list. unfortunately I don't have one right now...but im considering doing a video were I list every thing I have done
where would you consider buying this at
very nice:) @channelquake24
+channelquake24 Thanks man! Btw Just Subed to your channel! Awesome Videos!!!!
What happened at the end?
Im looking at geting the front bumper for my jeep how do you like it any information would be great
Charlie Morgan Its definitely an awesome front bumper! Very simple to install, I do have a video on it within my jeep build series.
I bought a all aluminum integy winch for $50
I NEED HELP WITH WATER IN TYRES!!! I am going to be getting some RC4WD Rok Lox 40 series tyres for my summit, along with some 40 series plastic bead lock rims from RC4WD. Oh and i forgot to mention that they are internal bead locks if that makes a diference?
Bead locks have nothing to do with anything except the fact the tires are secured to the rims by bolts and not glue.
To fix a water in tire problem simply drill holes in your tires (1 or 2) on the summit.
Centrifugal force qill push the water to the outside and let it come out.
Have you replaced the battery to the front after this video?
Lars W Gjethammer Not yet. All of my videos up till now are with the battery still in back. However im currently working on doing some changes to it and moving the battery up front it one of those changes.
Nice :)
those tires look a bit stiff. can u run lower pressure in them?
+jpaugh4 They actually don't run off of pressure. they have foams in them and yes you can get different foams to change around the softness of the tires.
agreed your get way more grab with softer foams or 2 stage foams.
It's a Jeep thing...
ok cool
how long can you drive with one lipo?
Lorenz Globits Im currently running a 2s 5000MAH Lipo which gets me about 3- 3 1/2 hours of run time. Depending on what im doing with it.
Thanks for the info! Awesome videos keep going ;)
how fast can it go
5-10 MPH at the very most
How do you say it? Axle? Or Axial?
+Matthew Barnhart ITs Axial. I know i was pronouncing it wrong thier for a wile. However i have sense corrected it. Haha
Keep should be more a little bit bouncier for realism
How much did you get it for?
I got the truck for a little under 400 last year. Then put another couple hundred into it to make it look the way you see it now.
Would you upgrade my SCX-10 if I mailed it to you?
Michael Christopher Sure. But id half to charge ya labor. ;)
is it 300$
Derrick Beard The truck is closer to 400$
soory
Ax- i-al, not Axle.
Marc Poletti my point exactly
It’s not axle it’s ax-i-al
Ya i know. Kind of hard to change what i said almost 3 years ago. lol
is is 300$
you pronounce Axial weird.
U seem way to serious like I love RCs and I am in to it but don't talk about it like life or death
So, how much money do you have invested to get it to that point?
Just the base model would pay my land rent and buy my family food for a month.
it's 379 dollars for a base model
