With gm teck 2 scanner card did you need for the relearn? An did you need to hook up the Candi module with it also. Or is that just for the 2005s?

Hello Dave! Let me start by saying that i'm so glad you took the time to put these Cobalt videos together, they've been very helpful. I recently bought a 2008 Cobalt LS and shortly after i got it, it started with the symptoms that you show on your first video, the tachometer needles moving back and forth randomly and the car shakes while driving it. Unfortunately i have no knowledge about mechanics so i will have someone else doing the repairing. I wanted to ask something that i didn't quite understand in this video, i know it might be a stupid question but i'll still go for it. Those colored cables that you show at the beginning of the video are not the same that were already in the car in the first place, right? May i ask what kind of cable is it, and where can i get those? I'm about to take my car to a mechanic to replace the sensor itself, but if that does not work, would you recommend taking the car to a regular mechanic or some more specialized electrical mechanic to replace the cables and mess with the ECM conector? Again, thank you so much for your videos, i've subscribed to your channel. Greetings from México!

The cables (wires) are standard automotive wiring that you should be able to buy at an auto parts store. I had to add the correct terminals to the ends of the wires to allow me to run the test. To do that you will need a terminal crimping tool. It is important to get the correct terminal size otherwise you could damage the existing terminals on the vehicle that could make the problem worse or give you an additional problem. If you don't have the tools or the terminals I would reuse the old terminals and splice new wire between the old terminals. As far as what kind of a mechanic to use, I would make sure that he or she has experience working with automotive wiring issues. It should not require a high level of specialization to do this type of work.

    Hello!
I have a question. How did you realize that this was the problem, having first changed the crankshaft sensor and then put the connector in, how did you know that was the problem? because I have a Chevy cobalt with the same problem and I already put a new crankshaft sensor on it, a new connector too.
    Thanks!

Hi Roberto, if I understand your question correctly, I started with the sensor, and that did not work, then tried the connector, when that didn't work, then I figured the only thing left was the wiring harness. That is what it ended up being. I found it easier to run a new wire external to the harness rather than buying a new harness and running the risk of problems taking all the other connectors apart.

Hi Dave. First, thank you for answering me, as I told you in the first message, it has been a headache for me because I have already bought a lot of sensors and I have put them on,but the problem is not solved yet. One question. Did your car go to a long cranking before it started before you fixed it? because that's what mine does and also the RPM stopped working too and the traction control light appears on the dash.

Not yet, I have been diving it like that because it runs fine, only the problem when starting it takes a little longer than normal.

    Hello Dave
I'd really appreciate it if you would tell me how you figured out the problem, because I've already spent a lot buying a bunch of sensors. map, maf, cam, crank etc. It really has been a headache, I wish you could answer me to give me an idea how I can solve my problem, as I told you in the previous message it is the same problem that your Chevy cobalt had .. Thank you!

Have you tried the repair that I show in part 3? It might be the same problem I had.

I haven't tried yet because I honestly don't know much about cars, much less electric issues.

@@robertoflores1141 in my experience most electrical issues are usually bad connections or broken wires and sometimes bad sensors. The hardest part is figuring out where to look. It can be tricky sometimes figuring out how to get the connectors apart also. I usually try to include that information in my videos.
