- Siquijor, a small island in the Philippines known for its pristine beaches, waterfalls, and mystical traditions. But today, we're not here to explore its tourist attractions. Instead, we are desperate for a haircut and are going to try a local barber shop.
Upon arriving at the barber shop, we were immediately surprised at how simple the setup was. It was a small, open-air space with a single barber chair. But what truly shocked us was the price of a haircut - only 50 PHP, which is less than 1 USD!
We couldn't believe how affordable it was, but we were also a bit skeptical about the quality of the cut. However, our worries were put to rest as the barber skillfully and efficiently went to work, giving us a precise and clean haircut.
We highly recommend checking out local barbershops during your travels, and if you happen to be in Siquijor, make sure to stop by this particular one and get a great haircut at an unbeatable price.

Watching this video MAKES ME SO PROUD really proud, i just can't hold my tears 🥹.. THAT'S MY FATHER sir 🫡. Thank you for recognizing him and appreciating his barber skills ❤. I miss him so much 💔. Thank you for tusting my father with your hair, it was an honor . Godbless you always on your journey, enjoy Philippines 🫶.
Ahhh your comment has made me day. Meeting your father was lovely and when I am back in Siquijor I will definitely go back to see hom. He's lovely. ;-)
@@AlwaysonaJourney Thank you so much, he'll be happy to see you again soon 😊. My Father is really a good man and very humble. I remember him telling me when you featured him that day, he was very happy and excited. He called me right away over the phone and told me about your youtube chanel.
By the way I am his eldest daughter 😊.
@@joydeguinon2884 I could tellt by speaking to him that he is a good man. I'll be back in Siquijor in June for one month and will pop in to say hello. and of course another haricut.;-)
@@AlwaysonaJourney yeah, for sure 😊 Thank you so much, and I'm happy that you like our country. Stay safe, Godbless.
@@joydeguinon2884your dad is a celebrity now. Hopefully, foreign people get to watch this video so they can come to your dad for a haircut!!🙌🏽
Just found this channel! As a Filipino, we are so happy you are happy in our country! Welcome guys!
Thank you so much. We love it here and need to explore and see and do a lot more. ;-)
That’s a great cut and so cheap!!! In 3-4 weeks we will be hitting the Philippines so excited because of these videos!!
Ohh exciting. We are going back at the end of May. How long are you staying in the Philippines?
@@AlwaysonaJourney awesome!! We are staying 3 weeks, also going to Cebu city, bohol and maybe siquijor!
You two are so generous …!!!
Thanks. Jan did a good job and deserved a tip. ;-)
We are going to spend a few months in Philippines. We love it here. Please share any tips here about where to go and what to do. Much appreciated. ;-)
I advise travelers to explore the country's less traveled areas, such as Northern Samar, which has a beach with pink sand and beautiful water, a surfing region, enormous caves, and imposing waterfalls. If you ride a motorcycle around the island, stop by the locals and ask them about a white sand beach in (Ka-go-soo-an)Kagusuan Beach in Maria, Siquijor, that not many people are aware of. Naturally, the island's Barracuda free dive is a must-do as well.
Would love to see you to visit Enchanted river and Batanes.
You guys just missed Holy week in Puerto Galera ..its the gay beach where it is most gay during holy week…Drag Race is held during Holy Thursday 🙏🏽
Thank you for loving my hometown
Our pleasure!
I'm glad you went to the budget barbershop in town. The upscale barbershops, such as those in the malls, are pricey, but they are still accessible and somewhat less expensive for visitors from other countries. I sincerely hope the results of the haircut pleased you. Our official language is Tagalog, however, people from Mindanao and the Visayas region also speak other languages and dialects that make up the Bisaya group. From Central Visayas to Mindanao, Cebuano is the primary language used. English is also the official language but not the sole official language.
Thanks Eric. We were very happy with our haircyts and will go again when we are back in Siquijor in June. Are you based in Philippines or Thailand?
Great vlog, am well impressed....can't believe its only cost £1.....wow....the barber, was fantastic at the fade work.....respect bro 👏 👍 😀
Unbelievable price, decent cut and he's a really nice guy.
Awesome 👏
Thanks 🤗
I'm happy to see Jerry in Philippines...He looks so Filipino despite he is Thai..(◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
Anyway, as a Filipino, i really love Thais.❤️💚🇵🇭🇹🇭
Aww thank you. I think Thai and Filipino people have warm hearts.
Nice haircut andrew&jery😎❤️ waiting for the next video in dumaguete 😍😊❤️
Thank you. We've got one more in Siquijor before going over to Dumaguete. How are you?
@@AlwaysonaJourney ohh im excited to watch the last one😊 and im good andrew & jerry just waiting for the sunset to break our fast im a your brother muslim living here in beautiful island of mindanao❤️😊
Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor and Negros Oriental where Dumaguete City is located is Region 7 or Central Visayas Region we speak the same language which is Bisaya or Cebuano.
Thats good to know. Thank you.
Wow, you guys look 10 years younger after the haircut... And did i hear it right, you'll be staying here for 4 months on your return in June? That's great to hear. However, June is the start of the rainy season here. So it's gonna be wet. However, there is also a forecasted el nino , so maybe it's still going to be dry in June and the months after. But i think it would still be best if you return maybe before summer ends like in May. You can also catch the Pahiyas Festival in Quezon Province where they decorate the houses with colorful rice leaves and produce. It's one of the popular festivals here which we have a lot of like Sinulog, Masskara, Panagbenga Flower Festival, etc.
Awww thank you for the complimemt. We can't wait to come back. Unfortunately we can't come back any earlier. Thanks for advising us about the weather. I think because we plan to stay longer we don't mind experiencing the rain. We are used to it in Thailand. Rainy days a re a good excuse to stay at home and read or watch TV for me. ;-)
Fresh look ❤❤❤❤
We were happy with our new haircuts.
@Always on a Journey where is the next destination my gosh I thought you were somewhere holy week festival , Andrew do you know about the Philippines culture about the Holy week 😳 😅 😂 😆 👀
I know a little about Holy week. After Siquijor we went across to Dumaguete.
❤❤❤
Thank you!
Local haircuts can be quite the experience.
Oh I agree. It was great.
❤
Thank you. ;-)
I went to the Phillipines couple years ago and my haircut was like 250php i dont remember well, i gave the barber 2000php and he was happy
Wow. That was very kind of you. :-)
YES HAIR CUT IN THE PHILIPPINES IS VERY CHEAP
The cheapest haircut I've ever had. ;--)
Tagalog is the National language in the Philippines, but bisayan language is also one of the most common dialect use in the Philippines but actually there are lots of dialects here in the country.😊
That's good to know. ;-0
Only in the Philippines sir! It is cheap but it's good.
It was very good and what a lovely man the barber is. ;-)
He used garden shears! 😝
That's funny. I was surprised by the size of the scissors. :-)
@@AlwaysonaJourney I wouldn’t go to a barber but all our haircutters/stylers are top notch if not even globally award-winning.
Your vlogs are very interesting! ❤️
$1 haircut for a clipper thats louder than a landing helicopter…mr, john barber,. Should name his business because a business with no signage is a sign of no business..I suggest he calls his shop THE CHOPPER!!!
Hail old school barbers who who still uses those giant scissors 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Loud clippers, huge scissors but hey no complaints from us. ;-)
@@AlwaysonaJourney oh i grew up getting haircut from giant scisdors.. but as i get older i think I would need earplugs frin those extra loud clippers…he’s a good barber and i love how his shop is set on a Nipa Hut.
Theres another pier in siquijor that serves serves dumaguete boats and beach there is epic..if not for the ipier that they’d set up there.
He really is a good barber and a very nice man.
The Chopper name might scare customers away..they cannot tell if it's an ear or a head that would be chopped.hehe..
The barber didnt understand hahah, the national language of PH is tagalog, if you speak tagalog evrybody understand even you go mindano or visayas. Manila people dont understand bisaya😅
Thank you. I need to learn some Tagalog.
The OFFICIAL language of the Philippines is Filipino, not tagalog🇵🇭
OK. I thought it was Tagalog as a few Filipinos told me that.
@@AlwaysonaJourney Filipino is based on Tagalog. Some use it interchangeably.
Thank you.
the only scary thing is, his barber shop is located in a dangerous side of the road, a speeding out of control vehicle can be a great danger to the people inside the shack..
I trhink speeding out of control vehicles are a danger no matter where they are.
Don't do it. They don't sanitize their tools properly. If you need an hair cut go to a fancy barber at the mall or use your own shaver.
I was happy with my haircut and will gladly go again the nest time I'm in Siquijor. ;-)
Their tools might be cleaner than your ego so fck off
