Brilliant video. I worked at US Gold's distribution centre, CentreSoft, back in the day. It's true that Turbo OutRun is leagues ahead of the original, but I am surprised you didn't mention Forgotten Worlds...for a US Gold / Capcom conversion, it was good then, and still is now. Super Cycle...ahh, I love that game! Never played Bruce Lee on the CPC, or Kung Fu Master (which is odd, seeing as I loooove Wing Chun for so many years now!).
I bet you could tell some stories ☺️ I’d love to know what happened with Street Fighter 2 on the Amstrad. Amstrad Action milked its arrival for what felt like forever. This is why I need to do a part 2 as Forgotten Worlds was a really good conversation and featured what I can only describe as widescreen 😊 you seriously need to fire up Bruce Lee, still plays a blinder.
I bought U.N. SQUADRON (CiB) for my Commodore 64 as a tape version from a local retro game store in Tikkurila, Vantaa (Finland 🇫🇮) in October 2022. It cost 7€, and it's actually an excellent Arcade conversion 😺👍🕹️. Also, i still have GAUNTLET (loose) for my Commodore 64 as a disk version from a compilation called ARCADE FORCE FOUR 😺👍🕹️. Some Arcade conversions are good 😺👍🕹️, and some Arcade conversions are bad 😹.
Another wonderful video. The CPC brings back so many incredible memories for me. I must whack out my 464 again at some point. I use emulation these days primarily, for ease of use.
What a great video. I didn't have any experience of playing Amstrad games when I was young, it was just Spectrum and C64 so it's great to see videos like these. Interested to see the quality of some of the arcade ports when compared to other systems. A great watch!
Another good 'un! Also a WW2 fan here. You added a little history about 1943, a great game! Yeah, Turbo Outrun was not as fast. But you and I know, Amstrad was prettier, colour-wise, compared to the C64.
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. No other 8bit comes close to the Amstrad when it comes to colour or graphics. The PC-Engine brigade will be all over me for that comment, but they’re cheating and not using 8bit parts 😉
Where I have the original game I use original hardware plugged into a HDS60 via HDMI. For new games and a few hard to get I use Java CPC or Retro Virtual Machine. But so easy to use real hardware in 2024.
Although Bruce Carver and Access Software developed the original version of _Beach-Head_ for the Commodore 64 and Atari 8-bits, you should also be thanking Choice for programming the CPC version. 😉 As for your list, _Trantor_ really should have been somewhere in the top 10 in my opinion. I also think _Psycho Pigs UXB_ is brilliant, albeit short and silly - and no sign of _Italy 1990_ anywhere? Shame! Also, should _Skweek_ count as a US Gold game, given that they published it in the UK (under licence from Loriciels)? It's one of my all-time favourites on the CPC.
Good shout on thanking Choice, if anyone is still out there, say hello back 👍🏻 Trantor imho is carried by its graphics, there’s not that much gameplay lurking underneath, but I still love it. The intro still amazes me with its silky smooth decent. UXB is alright, I had fun with it, it seems to have its fans, I wouldn’t say I’m that in bed with it, but definitely appreciate what they were trying to do. Italy 1990 was good, it would definitely feature in a top 20. The first release was bugged, winners edition sorted things from memory. Never liked Skweek, graphics were brilliant, even played the Amiga version, but it didn’t hook me beyond the first few levels. But I can definitely see how people would find it addictive. It would definitely make a top twenty though, just because I know how well it’s put together and I’d be shut down if it didn’t feature 😉 all in all I think I got a good balance and featured a decent list for honourable mentions. If there’s more interest I might do a part 2, but Amstrad vids never generate the numbers. But I will still do them out of loyalty 😅
The historical story of desert fox is a little scatchy but as a german I couldn't pass that by not noticing and mentioning this fact. But today everything can be offensive(with right or wrong context)with a little context!
If people have issues with facts then they have the issue ;-) It's not about being right or wrong, it's about being accurate. However; I find it easier if we stick strictly to computer and video game related content :-)
Oh the Amstrad conversation of Gauntlet 2 is outstanding.
It’s great on all formats to be fair, especially on the ST and Amiga. But yes Gauntlet got the proper Amstrad treatment.

Turbo Outrun was immense on the C64

The 6128 or 6128 Plus is a great piece of kit to own. That 128k really helps especially with new games.
@@ClassicReplay I own a 6128 too 😊

Forgot desert fox. Thanks for the reminder!
Any time! Thanks for watching my friend 👍🏻

The audio for Rygar is so good.
Gets you pumped up! I wish more developers would have considered music in pretty much all games.
Bruce Lee is not only one of my absolute heroes, the game is still incredible.
Shocking how the gameplay still holds up. Despite the minimal graphics and sound.
Love your videos mate! Do you make your videos using real CPC hardware or are these from emulators? Either way these vids are great

Shadow Dancer, The game about a Ninja taking his dog for a walk.
I'd be happy with anyone taking my dog for a walk, he needs three a day. A ninja taking a dog for a walk sounds like a good business model 🤣
