The best time I ever had on my Amstrad CPC spent flying and shooting was playing "ATF - Advanced Tactical Fighter" it's an excellent game that is still very playable to this day.
@@ClassicReplay Well once you'ce got to grips with all of the controls the aim is to help your side take over the whole map so strategically selecting which areas to sweep for targets combined with successful and efficient bombing missions are key
Wonderful stuff once again, Sir! It sure was brilliant to grow up owning an Amstrad. I am now even happier not growing up owning an Amstrad. Lol. Always will be that child who gets mesmerised by the genius of those programmers back in the glory days.
@@ClassicReplay for sure buddy, maybe the stars will align one day. Do you ever go to any retro events? I've not been for years. Went to a castle type place years ago in Blackpool for a brilliant event.
I see Ikari as more of a run and gun, so deserves its own category. Same with Turrican 2 although there are hybrid moments where it crosses both genres. Galaxia and 1942 haven’t stood the test of time very well.
My first PC was Sinclair ZX Spectrum back in '82. and Commodore C64C second but I always liked to go to my neighbour Mishel that brought CPC 464 from France that was pretty rare on Balkan... ;-)
I’m the same as you, we had access to all 8bits and consoles growing up. Big family and lots of friends with different computers/consoles. I never owned an Amiga growing up, but I guarantee I played more games than most, even people who owned the hardware, on the Amiga 500, same with C64, Speccy, MSX as always knew someone with different systems/games.
Loved the video, but loved the 'T'ra a bit' at the end more: proper accent! Did you ever play a shooter called simply 'Z'? That had the speediest scrolling I can remember. Not a bad little game for a budget title, either.
Flying Shark a Speccy port and slow, but yes, still good. Slap Fight was colourful, but the screen was too tiny and the game a bit slow. Alcon 2020 is awesome though
I would not have had UN squadron anywhere the top ten I’m afraid. To use a Blackadder similie it was slower than an arthritic snail with heavy shopping. Looked great in stills but that’s about it.
I was going more for the nostalgia factor. If there’s enough interest I suppose I could do it, but people don’t seem too bothered. See here I cover new Amstrad games - Best New Amstrad CPC Games ruclips.net/video/GHXtmm5bV64/видео.html
@@ClassicReplay ok no problem, the only thing I see not talking about the new games is that people who don't know the machine might think that there is no better. But otherwise the video is very nice. I am very nostalgic for the CPC era, so it's always a pleasure to see games from the commercial era again.
Completely understandable. You’ve convinced me to focus on doing a shoot em up vid for new Amstrad games. Just waiting on a few titles to be released and will begin 😉
I really like your videos - your love and nostalgia for the games and machines we were lucky enough to have in the 80s is infectious :D
Thanks for the kind words, already working on my next vid
@@ClassicReplay - look forward to it! have a good night
Thanks. Another superb video. The only thing missing being modern shmups such as Relentless and Red Sunset.
Good call! Modern shoot em ups I feel needs its own dedicated video. Plus I’m waiting on a few new games to be released before I attempt such a thing,

I’ve tried to love it, but I can’t get anywhere fast. What am I doing wrong 😑

Yeah, I don’t know why, but I struggle with this one. To put things into perspective three of my favourite games are Elite, Gunship and Tomahawk.

Great video, thank you. Excellent selection.
Thanks 😊
Chucking out a few I remember that I enjoyed: Galaxia; Ikari Warrior; 1942; Turrican 2.

@@ClassicReplay agree with all of that tbh

Yes, played ‘Z’ far from boring as critics of the day eluded to. Quite challenging later on. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment
If you can take out the inlay for Silkworm, and read the story. It is the best for an Arcade/action game. Grand video.
Thank you ☺️
No thank you for these fantastic videos. Really -Rad, Keep it up!😊

@@ClassicReplay I didn't own an Amstrad back in the day, so I'll be 'sipping' a few of these later via emulation, looks to be some good ones here...
I’ve just started working on my next video, the best new Amstrad Shoot em ups 😅
where is Flying Shark, Slap Fight...? :(

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion 😉 Let’s agree to disagree on that one
Guardian 2? Why did I know it as Defender?
These were arcade clones
Hello. Nice shmups 🙂There will be a "X-Out remaster" soon.
Really? On Amstrad?
@@ClassicReplay Not on Amstrad. Check "X-Out Resurfaced".
Hello. Why only old games ? What About récent games like Relentless, Red Sunset, Super Edge Grinder...
Some of récent games used hardware scrolling.

I always thought Zynaps was pronounced like synapse.
Oh well, you know what I mean 😊
those are the historical ones, but a good bunch of shooters were released recently during current hobby-homebrew era and are even more stunning.
That's a future video I'm planning...
