The Everglades and the Big Cypress Swamp are distinct ecosystems and should not be used interchangeably. The Everglades is a very shallow, slow moving, very wide river while the Big Cypress is (mainly) a cypress swamp that depends on rainfall as its source of water. The Seminole call the Everglades "Pahayokee," "grassy water." It is a grassy prairie with scattered cypress domes and hardwood hammocks. It is not a swamp! Big Cypress IS a swamp with standing water. The tree canopy is more dense and "jungle-like."
@@AlafiaHiker I searched Fakahatchee Strand because I’m reading all about it in “The Orchid Thief”. Your footage makes it look even more wild than the author describes!
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing. I wish your camera would focus as well on the distant subjects as it does for the your close ups, which are totally in focus.
@@AlafiaHiker Thank you. I was back there a few weeks back and saw many panther prints. Heard some tree scratching just couldn't get my eyes on it. Great video, and impressive camera. Is it a dedicated video camera?

I'll pin your comment so everyone sees the clarification. I hope to have an Everglades National Park video up in the coming months.
Excellent footage!!! ...thank you for sharing
Thanks for tuning in!

It really was! I love that place.

@@LilyKumpe Cool idea. One of these summers I want to go back and do an orchid tour. They go off trail, straight through the swamp/water.
You make Great videos, God Bless. It’s like I’m right there, watching and listening to everything
Thanks! That's definitely the style I tend to go for.
@@AlafiaHiker sounds great
I plan on getting down there soon. I live an 1hr and 15 minutes from there. I've seen so many amazing pics and video.
Awesome! It's a special place.
Crazy how much Wildlife is out there
It's a special place. I need to get down to South Florida more often.
I am so jealous of your panther encounter!
Yeah!!! I couldn't believe it! So lucky.
Awesome stuff, can't wait to go back this December. Hopefully I can see a panther.
Best of luck! I need to plan myself another visit.
Gate 15 is my favorite spot in there.
I had to see the famous water hole.

Thanks!... and yeah, it's not "high end" by any means but maybe one day I'll upgrade.
Phenomenal panther footage.
So glad you enjoyed it. More to come this summer, I hope.
Very cool video. What time of day was this?
Thanks! I was there at sun up the day I saw the panther but I usually can't make it there that early. Gators were out around 10.

@@paulesj That's awesome. I think the FZ300 is made for photography but I use it exclusively for video.
sorry about the trail cam. thanks for sharing
I tried again with another camera and got some pretty good footage.
Again, good job with the wildlife. I'm impressed.😀🌴🌞
I was very fortunate. Thanks!
