How about, a champion of great beauty, art, literature, and wisdom that the Anglo culture/civilization has given to the world? Our ancestors kept struggling, building upon past successes, insights, knowledge, and gifts given to us. By far never perfect, and flawed as humans, and life are, but true, the good is worth honouring, and preserving.

    Cheers Gentlemen ,
Britain is a very unique Nation , one thing Britain can be profoundly proud of is evolving a form of society that defeats tyranny , that’s worth conserving !
The invention of every man is under the Law , and every man enjoys exactly the same rights is very liberating .
The ‘Rights of the Englishman’ was adopted by the USA and ultimately the World , today touted as ‘human rights’ .obviously the Englishman got it Right !
Carry on Men , hold fast and sail on ,

In my attempt to spread what I think are important perspectives around, I gave Scrutons name to an Architecture student, and suggested he watch, "Why Beauty Matters."

Wilhelm Reich , father of Sex Revolution , was there , and if memory serves me right , in 1913 , Trotsky , Stalin , Freud , Hitler , and Tito all lived in Vienna within walking distance of each other . Think of what those men launched ... thank God , evil is not omnipotent

@@dedosdigital true. I have a love-hate relationship with Vienna. please keep me in your prayers; this year was extreme for me healthwise. I hope you are well in these times. I should travel away somehow I fear. I studied philosophy starting age 18 at University of Vienna, also Christian philosophy with Günther Pöltner, but could only make my BAphil because of my health (Lyme disease! , severe episodes since 2016- and Lyme is common in Austria; Hitler and Stalin were surely surely syphilitics - which is cousin to Lyme), also many big ups and downs and strange happenings . I am sad now that I did not travel to Oxford after making my A levels in Vienna /AT; was a gifted student (I am native Ukrainian woman/girl; parents are opera singers); now 32; somehow hoping for a miracle to heal and travel away to find a husband and real Christian people.

@@DariaRock1 Thanks for sharing a bit of your story. I know someone who suffers from Lyme, and intensely searched to find specific testing, and some 'alternative' doctors who specialize in this.
Wondering if you know of Dennis Prager? (U.S.). You can listen to him on online radio. He is a religious Jew that supports conservative values, marriage, family, and religion. He does quite a good show, and sometimes has relationship topics. He let's people know every day how much he hates leftism. : )
I suspect he would tell you to start 'shopping' around for that husband. Online, and everywhere until you find the right conservative, Christian guy.
Vienna is also where the most concentration of spies like to roam around, and congregate.

I did not have a sickness that doctors could find . But had severe pains , and getting worse . I could not sleep for pain . Sometimes IZ could not walk . I chanced to find an article about pathogen attenuation by electric pulse ( Doctors.William Lyman and Steven Kaali, , Albert Einstein Medical College in Brooklyn New York ) , and then I found the ' Bob Beck Protocol ' . I thought the claims were too good to be true , but decided to test on myself , and I purchased a device called Silver Pulser from SOTA company in Canada , and used the protocol . . ( I used only two parts ; Blood electrification and Silver Colloid ) , also I drank two liters of spring water every day . On the third day I felt awful , and my body smelled bad . On the fourth day some improvement , but on the fifth day all pains gone and I had tremendous energy . I also had problems with my teeth and those problems stopped too . Perhaps it is something you could investigate . In any case it is harmless . I think if you discuss with a doctor , you will be told , this is all garbage .. But for me it was not garbage . Both gentle, caring, non vindictive and incredibly intelligent people who in every way are shining examples to counter the madness of the 'evil' called Woke and PC we are now very much in fear of turning our country and other western countries into 1984 nightmare. What gives me hope that in many way both Roger and Douglas talk and act as Ghandi did and I expect they both would agree with my favourite quote from Ghandi "Remember that all through history, there have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time they seemed invincible, but in the end they always fall. Always." It is the that hope, as we saw with Hitler, Stalin, PoiPot and similar that eventually goodness, decency, fairness and respect for other's views always wins. Roger in his way referred to that we are like the Christians secretly hidden in the catacombs of Rome with just one light between us, Roger Scruton a great man sadly missed. Douglas and as the lovie Laurance Fox (who has broken ranks with his fellow actors) don't talking or stop producing books like the Death of Europe and the Madness of Crowds, because there are 'millions' of us who need champions like you to stand up to what is happening, enable us and encourage to be brave, speak up and put 'The bitch that bore the beast’s on heat again' - Bertolt Brecht back in it's box again.

I like the fact you mention attention span. They say on things like RUclips it’s 1.5 minutes as a maximum. Being an older person and a conservative I like to listen to the whole conversation. It must be very stressful to be frantically listening for 1.5 minutes to things, and then finding the next thing to listen to. That’s probably why the woke era Is malcontented because they don’t listen, they just want the bullet points.

Bravo! It IS encouraging seeing such a positive response to an evening meeting that embraces ideas (instead of slogans), conservatism, antidotes to wokism, with a nice balance hit between the past cultural treasures & future means of celebrating those, and also a balance between looking critically at left vs. right, at Europe vs. the nation, and also at what the 'university' might become.
This is a dismal period in America largely b/c of how dominant the Left is there now (the Democrats & the media), and frankly at how lawless and corrupt the Left is becoming. Excellent discussion.

    Definition of Love~
Firstly, it's a Choice or Decision
    Accompanied by emotion, which means
    it's not led nor
    void of emotion.
That leads to action on behalf of it's object.

I’ve always wondered, am I a conservative if I’m not attached to the preservation of the Christian culture in Europe? Not that I want it replaced with another religion. But it seems that in some countries, you need to be a christian to be a conservative.

As an aside, who picked those Panton chairs for this talk? No one looks comfortable and especially given who the guest is...but anyhoooooo...I really enjoyed this. Some good humour.

34:00 Real meaning being in our relationship with others: Sir Roger on harmlessness and the self-conscious advertisement of it, the relationship between the "I and You" being corrupted: "Opposition isn't a negative thing, it's the positive thing from which understanding grows" is a balm, focusing precisely upon the element that's been missing in our attitudes toward one another: respect.
Funny, but the idea has the inconvenient truth of validating the opposition narcissists engage in as much as it does ours; understanding between us could not occur, did they not also adopt a position.
Could be the intent of all opposition, of every position, is a narcissistic one, that to reach for understanding not only requires a bit of it, but also a little humility.
(Edit: Misheard "opposition" as "a position," corrected for the error)

Can you imagine Rayner debating rationally with a Conservative? That photograph of her and Starmer taking the knee needs to be brought out at every opportunity in the run-up to the next general election - do not neglect that gift.

Douglas Murray may not be a physically harmless person. But his mind of clear rational thinking and sharp wit is a weapon few can defend against. Also. Truth waits for those whose eyes are without longing- Ram Dass😊

Scruton didnt say that Douglas Murray is harmless, he said he is harmless TO HIM! From there on the answer to the question why he said this should be quite clear.

Two great minds wrestling with the fact that the world has turned its back on the divine, on truth, on the God of heaven. Neither seems capable of stating the painfully obvious. It is as if we are willing to consign civilization to the ash heap of history if it will spare us from admitting that we have no better answers, no wiser words than those of Christ.
