- Shift faster, shift easier and check out the killer aesthetic of the CAE Racing Ultra-Shifter, available for most makes and models but shown on our in-house Porsche 997.1 GT3 here!
What exactly is a CAE Racing Ultra-Shifter and what is the difference between it and conventional "short shift" kits? Easy. Conventional "short shift" kits only reduce the forward and back movement, whereas the CAE Racing Ultra-Shifter reduces the forward, back, left and right movements. Making the shift pattern much smaller overall.
Additional features include a reverse "lockout" collar which uses a pull-up mechanism with a hard spring to pretty much eliminate incorrect reverse selection.
A higher shift nob as well allows the driver to have more control thanks to the nob position being much closer to the wheel and hands. More time for the driver's hands on the steering wheel results in improved control.
Lastly, the look is nothing short of incredible.

That GT3 sounds incredible!
Thank you! It does sound WILD. Probably our best sounding car!
Nice video! I just got a CAE Shifter for my 997 Carrera 4(Upgraded 3.8L). I love the shifter so much!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it, nice Porsche too! These shifters completely transform the driving experience!
the is easily the shortest throw on a shifter I’ve seen, seems extremely notchy. #racecar
Yup! That's because it's shorter in every direction, not just up and down. It feels absolutely incredible and a true joy to drive.
Nice. What is the shifter cover you are using? They only seem to have the carbon fiber one. Is it the stock one removed from the boot and recovered with alcantara? I want to install one but that frame around the shifter is the only thing holding me back for now.
Not sure, this was a while ago now and we no longer supply these parts.
Hi, would you mind telling me what exhaust set up you have on this car? It sounds unreal and I want something similar for my 997 GT3
Thanks for the message, this is the EVOMS headers, stock side mufflers and centre muffle bypass. We can provide this whole setup for you if you like? If you would like to, contact us below:

This device appears to have completely removed the joy of just being able to palm the shifter over?? The slight give in a stock shifter just allows you to slam it across the gate. If you watch countless gt3 ring videos you never see the driver think twice about the shift. They just waft it through seamlessly. I bit like learning to drive in a clapped out Bedford Rascal, you just mashed the lever across in a split second and the compliance just allowed it to find its way. The worst car I had was the early R8 gated shift. Just annoyingly over complex. Enough to make me go STronic🤣.
Only one way to find out, drive one. In our opinion it's much more satisfying and fun to drive with this shifter
Total gimmick! Look how long your hand is off the steering wheel - pretty sure you can change just as quickly with a standard lever.
Thanks for the input! Have you experienced said gimmick?
@@RegalAutosport No, but I've changed gears plenty of times. To me it looks like it is just imitating a sequential gearbox shifter
I’d recommend using one before passing comment based on an observation on the internet, it makes a big difference to the driving experience.
To bad it makes you look like a boy racer wannabe... I this there was a stock looking solution like this.
The heart wants what the heart wants
