- Check out the action-packed first trailer for upcoming open-world action game, Project: The Perceiver. Developed and published by Papergames, Project: The Perceiver is based on the Chinese Lao Zhuang canon. Here's your first look at the game's story as well as some combat in action. Meet some of the characters and watch part of an intense boss fight, showing off the game's Chinese martial arts-inspired combat system.
In Project: The Perceiver, the old dynasty has fallen and the nation has been left in chaos. After being captured, the game's protagonist makes a bloody escape and manages to invoke a mysterious power before encountering his fated nemesis. Explore several ancient cities in a beautiful fantasy world, engage in exciting battles, and get to know a variety of characters as the Master of Varietas.

Right?? Like the first half of the trailer, looked merely okay, pretty standard looking action game, run around slice people up. But then it shifted to this other-worldly type aesthetic and level design and the choreography just got cranked up to 12!!

This game is a Wuxia (Chinese novel) , China has an amazing folklore and full of potential for videogames. Japan is not the only Asian country with amazing aesthetic.

I'm surprised a lot of these games weren't used in the Summer of Gaming. Instead we got lots of subpar AA and indies shown off. Most of the biggest game announcements this year were shown outside game shows.

Jesus christ this is just an announcement trailer? Usually we get nothing but CGI cutscenes for announcements. This studio said "Nah you're getting 6 minutes of full gameplay" we need more of this.
That was phenomenal. The trailer just kept getting better and better, all the way up until the last second. Such smooth and fluid looking combat.

I'm happy to see China and Korea stepping up in terms of game development. It's always nice to see games come from nonwestern companies as they tend to have a much different perspective of the world, but mostly we just see those from Japan.

There are already many wuxia Games in China .All we know that Wuxia originated in China and China can grasp its concept well . Like Wuxia novel, drama , movie and so on.

Those animations are literally everything; that was honestly flames 🔥. Hope there's a playable demo in the coming years
It's the dynamic camera too, works so well and so much better than those games where you're effectively driving a character around.

The way Fromsoft and Santa Monica makes their animation fluid is the best in the business. And if this game is what the trailer shows us, Then we are in for a treat.

The protagonist seems to be a Chinese dramatist, so it will change into many different characters. There is a special show in Sichuan Province in China, where you can change your face or clothes in an instant. You can watch it when you are eating hot pot in [Haidilao] to such a performance.
Anyone else notice the Sekiro-like gameplay? Very reminiscent of it, though a little lighter in terms of enemy reaction when they are hit.
Of course this is more Chinese Wuxia instead of Japanese Fable, but the feeling is still there.
The first few minutes definitely feel like it. I'm all on-board for more sekiro-like games. Has to be one of my favorite games ever.

This looks like the love child of final fantasy+ghost of Tsushima (and a bit of sekiro) and I'm all for it. Legit got goosebumps when the guy pulled out a greatsword and smashed it against the ground
How? it looks like 90% Sekiro, even down to the boss fight. The atmosphere does seem different though.

So this looks amazing, but when the guy he was fighting at the end started with the pink flower petal tricks my Marluxia PTSD kicked in SO SO hard 😂

Tenchu vibe is strong with this one
hope it's an amalgamation akin to the RPG Openworld genre, utilized by how points of interest had landmarks that piques player's interest filled by thriving wildlife and interactive the environment w/ environmental storytelling that had visual language for it's visual direction, and interconnecting side quest with players choice that affects the world surrounding the player thanks to dynamic writing, that exploration rewards player's curiosity, and all aforementioned aspects correlated to world building/lore.

This person seems to be the famous [Li Cunxu] in Chinese history, the originator of [Later Tang Dynasty], and the idea of [Mask] probably comes from [Li Cunxu likes to perform drama].
