If you can only read one then I recommend reading Luke as the mercy, grace, and love of Jesus is documented beautifully.

The BBC used to have church services on the radio (they still do) and I wondered if by listening to these prayers you could be praying to God too. Being living in fear since 2020 as I see events taking place. And then came your video. Yes things still can be changed if we pray and convert. My young American born niece has been working in Berlin for a couple of years now. I am concerned for her safety and asked her to consider coming home to California, where my brother and his family reside. (She responded that she is "safe" in Berlin. 😓) I am German and became a Naturalized U.S. citizen as a young child, and was born in Cologne. I will add my poor prayers for my family members still living there, especially my beloved Aunt whom I last visited during the winter of 2019/2020.

Thank you Father Mark. I live maybe only one or two miles away from the river Rhein ypu mention and sometimes I cross this river several times per day (today already two times). In summer the whole town of Basel is swimming in this beautiful river. Many miles of the river are in Switzerland. I live in Basle on the right side of the river, i.e. this means the German side. Thanks God twice in the past hundred years Switzerland was saved from the wars. In WW2 many Jews wanted to cross here the border from Germany and many were let in and others were refused and sent back to Germany.
This morning in today's mass our good priest said, that the main problem are not the arms but that humanity has turned away from God. I also see it like that. That is so good to know as I am reading this book each night, a section at a time. It’s harrowing to read as I had no idea just how much Jesus suffered on His way to the Cross. There are tortures and humiliations which are unknown to the faithful, as they are not in the Scriptures. I cried out in sorrow for Him many times while reading this book, and it has made me ashamed to realise just how much I caused it personally because of my sins.
I’m reading something similar for Lent, “The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ”. I skimmed it on Mardi Gras and the descriptions of the pain Our Lord was in and the barbarity around Him . . . I wept in compassion just thinking about it.

His shoulder wound was particularly barbaric. How His broken body even made it to Calvary I don’t know, but through it all, His eyes were fixed on the Cross, even welcoming it, because He knew it was our only chance of salvation. All through His journey He kept emphasising His pure love for us. I read some more last night and wept at our sheer ingratitude.

Instead pay attention to the prophecies /predictions /promises / messages in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Two examples
1) The disciples of Jesus pointed out to him the buildings of the temple. He anwered them, "...Truly, I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another, that will not be thrown down."

(Some years later in that generation, the temple at Jerusalem was destroyed and no stone was left upon another. What was spoken by Jesus was fulfilled.)
