MOUNT WAGAWN | WHAT A BLOODY GREAT HIKE! - Bushrangers Caves [Drone footage blows you away]

Mount Wagawn is located on the Gold Coast in Australia, in the Lamington National Park system and can be accessed one of two ways. Through and above Bushrangers caves hike which starts off Hayters Road (off Numinbah road) on the QLD/NSW border (just south of Natural Bridge) which is how we accessed it or by hiking down from Binna Burra along the Lamington National Park route.
This hike is quite a challenging one. Within 10 minutes the gradient gets quite steep and although there is some reprieve it carries on most of the way to Bushrangers caves.
Just when you think it gets easier, from Bushrangers caves it goes fairly well vertical for about 300 metres of elevation and a good 1.5 hours of climbing. Although the view at this stage is limited it is still a really pretty hike.
Mount Wagawn is a bit of a let down for raw mountain views, which is why we hiked further to Garragoolba and Warumblebah lookouts.
A word of caution though. This is a legitimate hike. Be prepared. Have good shoes, lots of water and food, a decent hat, take a snake bite kit and a friend. It is definitely not a place with easy rescue points.
The views from Garragoolba lookout were breathtaking and well worth it, unfortunately we encountered a snake smack bang at entry to the lookout which was not happy so we abandoned that lookout and went back to Warumblebah lookout which was not as good but still awe inspiring.
I rate this hike an 8.5 out of 10 for difficulty and a 9.5 out of 10 for the view.

Right on the border trail on the QLD/NSW border just after natural bridge. Warning though, it’s pretty much a scramble up the side of the mountain after Bushrangers 😵
