    A channel that produces content that discusses Celtic history without shoehorning politics, and modern social commentary into every damn video? Praise be to Lugh I have found my home!
    Seriously though the hardest part about being a Celtic Pagan, is finding good content on RUclips. The vast majority of creators who make videos on this subject can't go five minutes without spewing off topic horse shit, when all I want to do is learn about my Irish Ancestors. Please keep up the amazing work.

      The problem with looking to Ireland for Celtic history is that there are very few genetic links between the Celtic homelands in central Europe and Ireland. There are more in the UK to be honest.
      Ireland is better for researching the pre Celtic culture than anything after the Celts arrived there from the UK.

      @Adam Defibaugh Yes. It was created the moment TVs became widely commercially available to offset the cost of setting up a national broadcaster. There also used to be a radio licence until it became too difficult to enforce.
      It made a certain amount of sense back in the day when RTE were the only thing you could watch on a TV, but that's clearly no longer the case.
      A lot of homes over here no longer have TVs as a result, they just use computers.

    • @peterhoulihan9766
      @peterhoulihan9766 4 года назад +17

      @Umbrella Corporation The administration of the TV licence was awarded to "An Post" (our equivalent of USPS). Basically they go around door to door and ask to perform inspections. It's a legal grey area whether they can demand entry or not, but if you refuse them entry they'll assume you have a TV and start sending out letters threatening legal action.
      They've tried to force me to pay for a nonexistant TV twice and I've refused. Both times they eventually backed down.
      They also had equipment which could be used to perform "Van Eck phreaking," basically snooping on the signal produced by your TV to confirm you were using it, but I think that only works with CRT displays and it was minimally used anyhow.
      Another tactic they use is demanding information from cable providers about their customers. They then correlate this to the database of licenced addresses and see which households don't match up.
      It generally boils down to intimidation and the nuisance factor. People pay because it's a relatively small amount of money to avoid getting into a legal tangle with a government corporation.

      Also Very similar in the Hindu/ Vedic theology of the sacredness of the cow.. Aditi, the mother of all gods.. often portrayed as a gleaming white cow.. all these cultures were visited by the same “gods..” that helped them complete practically impossible tasks. Building these megalithic structures is no short undertaking... there’s absolutely no way they could of precisely cut the stone, let alone drag it all the way to the building site , then hoist it up in the air and place it perfectly where it needed to go lol... a lot of our history has been lost through conflicting religious/social factions destroying everything from those they had conquered.. especially when it was viewed as “heretical,” or “pagan..” so much has been lost in India and Ireland.. and a lot of it has been even further censored in fairly modern times.

    I have been to Japan many times, if you ever have time to look into a place called Nara Japan. Japanese shinto religion remind me of Tara in Ireland with burial stones. I'm not saying they are connected but the similarities between Tara and Nara are amazing. As you said about tying objects to trees as for prayers and the phallic symbols which are also use in the Shintoism. There's a town called Tara in Japan as you travel between Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

    • @amanb8698
      @amanb8698 2 года назад +9

      I've noticed those similarities too. I think it's mainly due to the fact that the Celts were also animists like the early Japanese and many Native Americans and Siberians. They worshipped nature. They held that spirits lived in the forests and in all living things and the earth itself. This great reverance for nature and the land, was a deep part of the culture. The Japanese ironically later adopted an Indo-European origin religion Buddhism, which started in India, but they fused Shintoism to it. Later Christianity was brought by the Portuguese. Now the further irony, the Portuguese prior to their Romanization were largely Ibero-Celts. So their ancestors were probably also once animists, and they also had the Indo-European pantheon prior to their Christianization.

      @Enoch~ Historically they all played a role, aye, but I'd say both Norse and Norman played a lesser role regarding the cultrual identity of the English; especailly true, more-so in regards to our genitic make-up. The Norse being expelled for the most part and the Normans being absorbed, adopting an identity with the common English subjects, with our language, although still Germanic, borrowing a lot of French/Latin words as a result of the Norman conquest and occupation. We English though, are primarily a Celto-Germanic peoples.

    • @nutyyyy
      @nutyyyy 3 года назад +2

      @@Kopesy The English have Celtic (Brythonic) Germanic (Saxon, Angles, Jutes) Scandinavian (Danes and Norse) and then the Normans - partly Frankish who themselves were Germanic people mixed with Gallo-Roman population and culture.
      Much like Scotland has Irish, Brythonic, Anglian and then Norman influence on top of it.
      Very few modern European nations are completely formed from a single group or culture.
      France has Celtic, Germanic and Latin origins.
      Ultimately they are all indo-European. I think race certainly exist but its get over simplified and people assume it is the be all end all for national identity. For example the English are a mix much like the Scots. But obviously ethnic groups close to eachother have more in common than they do with those on different continents.

I use to be obsessed with how do we define Irish/Anglos/ Norse people etc... I take solace with knowing they are all indigenous to north Western Europe. The Early Germans WERE Celts and vis versa as is suggested in the Victorian trend of calling all Germanic people "Celts/Kelts" and the cool fact the "Germani" tribe were technically Celtic. Of course we are all related going way back blah blah, but these "relatively recent" relations are super important, as our man says links to Northern Europe in the Proto Celtic, Celtic and post Celtic (with a capital C anyway), the Slavs later (and the Scythians - more a common heritage but interesting to see commonalities). I know were are all Celtic/Germanic/Slavic whatever the fu*k depending where we live in Europe but it is fascinating to look into our history - videos like this do a great job. The family name can tell you a lot as well, your "recent" ancestry (I'm half "Norman"/Scandi and half Celtic - Scots Irish, essentially raiders all round and my father by blood was a scoundrel who robbed post offices with shotgun. Explains a lot, raid, raid, raid..). Your surname tells you much, can explain some interesting stuff. Never seen the little folk though, to see "The Gentry", that would be excellent (and most Icelanders take them for granted). Not Archaeology but I have a Jacques Vallee outlook on all that shizzle basically. Nearly drowned in a bog in Germany, spooky as fuck - barely pulled myself up from the deep, deep dark, was gagging, covered in dead ants.. I know why our ancestors saw watery places and bogs as sacred/spooky places and crossings to the other side..

    I was quite surprised to not see anything about R1b-L21 in the last Celts video.
    Maybe it’ll be in this one?
    Either way I’m sure I’ll learn something.

      No, still nothing on R1b-L21.
      But I was glad to see similarities drawn between the Gaulish and Irish art styles - we can say they are both Celtic.

      Can you believe that afew years ago archaeologists and historians said “yeah there is no such thing as celts”... I’m sure those Marxists still spread that deconstructionist nonsense.
