Great video on the Kellison, I had a relative back in the 80's and 90's that owned a Kellison street car, sbc power but don't remember what chassis it had.
Love the fact they left the paint original so much personality. Those old school graphics are amazing. Great video, my friend, and as always, awesome job.💪👌
At Niagara Falls drag strip I KNOW I’ve seen one of these. Strip not there now but wow. Big names went there. Great memories ! ❤ Thanks for the video !
Shot several photos of this, in action, during the 2012 NHRA Hot Rod Reunion (Beech Bend Raceway, Ky.). Knew it when I first saw it that it was different. Awesome story and really enjoy your videos.
That's cool! I couldn't believe it when I first saw the car, and then I was even more astonished when I saw him race it for the first time. A wild machine for sure!
Pretty cool there ..I'm in Germany now and all this stuff is verboten which totally sucks. The u.s. car culture is awesome & I miss it. DL here is 3k$ in Bavaria
@@HotRodHoarder hey, great channel glad I stumbled onto it! I subscribed!! Another thing that is very cool is the rigs guys used to bring their cars to the track during this era… I think that would be a pretty cool video
Cool story and car for sure but......Im kinda tired of this patina craze. I mean it does have its place on certain vehicles but that car deservers to repainted in its original color and that includes lettering and correct decals if any.....patina to me is metal exposed to the elements not paint on a fiberglass body that has just deteriorated over the years....not trying to offend anyone just my opinion
A lot of those details about funny cars were still being ironed out in the late '60s. If he had a competitive combination, he could've entered one of the 16-car funny car races at Riverside (a nearby track) because those races were often unsanctioned. It was definitely in a more appropriate home in the C/Altered class. The flip top body sure looks cool though, and causes most people to refer to it as a funny car.
Since Zorn used it as his personal silver-spoon in the mouth playpen toy with no racing pedigree, there is no harm or foul in giving it a Pro Street 1.500 hp engine with transbrake powerglide and Gear Vendor overdrive unit hooked up to a shortened aluminum 10 inch Ford style rear end supported by free-floating axles, would then deserve a modern day Pro Street paint job. Give it a real interior and seating with a modern day front suspension and some real C-3 Vette tail lights would bring bidding of over one million dollars at Barrett- Jackson in Scottsdale. Go figure !
WoW I ran Corvette,s in Nashville back in the 1960.s there was a guy named Larry at Union Hill drag strip that I raced in A/ S it wasn't this car but I had seen it later, Larry's car was almost the same type of setup he was quick 👍😲 Dam some fun years. I worked for.. Capital Chevrolet, I was the Vette technician 🤔😁😁
That's really cool! Love those graphics and the lettering. Being an optometrist, I bet people didn't have to tell Dr. Zorn to keep an EYE on the road. 😁 🚦 Thanks for sharing!
I remember seeing my first Kellison at Bristol Dragway in the early 90's. In 2014, my dad and I drove from Tennessee to Michigan to buy an unbuilt Kellison J6 Panther body. I still have it. I've got 60 El Camino I'm building and then I've got a 34 Chevy I plan on finishing. Maybe the Kellison will see the light of day before I die.
Not sure the original tranny was a turbo 400, but I have seen them set up old school with a clutch. They were referred to as"the poor man's Lenco" 🙂 Used to have an old muscle car mag that had pics of one...pretty cool. Oh, turbo 400 will shift by itself out of first gear if you pull it down and just nail it. Nice little chirp into second. 😉
What a cool car. Love how he left the paint original. I’ve said it many times, your research of drag racing history is much appreciated. I never miss your videos.
Wow that is all I can say you knocked it out of the park again keep them coming thanks for the video
Thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you liked it!
A very interesting car and history. Thank you for sharing!
💯👍👊
Thanks for watching!

Talk about a unicorn. What a find.
It's a wild one! Crazy that it survived all those years!
That chassis is a work of art
Absolutely. A wild piece for the 1960's for sure.
Love the fact they left the paint original so much personality. Those old school graphics are amazing. Great video, my friend, and as always, awesome job.💪👌
I'm so glad they didn't do anything with the body and paint. It's perfect as is!
It’s PERFECT! 😎
Super cool drag car and it's history champion. Thanks. 👌🇦🇺
Pre-1990 drag cars are my favorite; the sixties and seventies are the best!
Agreed!
Without a doubt!
That's not an opinion, that's facts... the older the better. Love those gassers, fx, altered... all of the above.
Also like anything oval track
Cool story and sweet car! I met my wife in Murfreesboro. Beautiful area.
At Niagara Falls drag strip I KNOW I’ve seen one of these. Strip not there now but wow. Big names went there. Great memories ! ❤
Thanks for the video !
US ens old drag car nuts need more videos of this cool car shit!

Knew it when I first saw it that it was different. Awesome story and really enjoy your videos.
Altered's and Gassers, what a great era of drag racing!
The time of cars run by Stone, Woods and Cook and Big John Mazmanian. They were rockstars!
I saw that car run at Knoxville Tenn late 60s.
So Koool you do these stories on on all those race cars
Congratulations on 100k
I saw this car run at Brainard raceway in 2020. Very interesting. I took a lot of pics at the time.
That's cool! I couldn't believe it when I first saw the car, and then I was even more astonished when I saw him race it for the first time. A wild machine for sure!
Incredible!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you for watching!
Wow! Many old drag cars get restored but they don't race again like this one does.
That's my favorite part...he not only made it run again, but really gets out there and races it!
That car looks a lot like a 1963 Chevy cheetah😊
Sooooo cooooool❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!
Does anybody remember 23 T roadster blown Olds.. cas name was. Wild Mouse ran Bristol TN national,s in late 50 s or 60 s The Kelly ran also that day!
Next level
I'm not really a fan of the of the look of most kit cars but thats sexy.
Kellison had a pretty cool look and I especially like them as drag cars. The proportions are PERFECT for a flip top setup like this.
Pretty cool there ..I'm in Germany now and all this stuff is verboten which totally sucks.
The u.s. car culture is awesome & I miss it.

❤thanks man
If anybody was wondering what “freaking awesome“ looks like… There you go!
Agreed...this car always gets a lot of attention and for good reason!

hope anyone can tell me how to put doors on a shell like this. any info would be appreciated
I'd almost like to see you paint your Kellison like Dr. Zorn, did so Robert can leave his body "ORIGINAL,!
Why does it have headlights?
Sorry (not sorry), but patina is a french word meaning "needs a paint job"
Lol, there's no way in the world I could remove that 50-something year old paint. I just couldn't do it.
@@HotRodHoarder I concur.
Tool cool..
Awesome History .

Funny cars are flip top and center steer. The lack of center steering is why it's not a funny car.

Sorry but the wrong guy owns it.
What's this "next" shit RUclips ?!!

Haha, I think Robert Walker has the right idea with the small block and Powerglide. Ready to rock and easy to work on! I wouldn't change a thing!
Or putting a paint job on it
@@HotRodHoarder I wouldn't touch it. it's a Time Machine as is.
Fantastic job 👍👍

I have memories of Larry Stewart's Kelson. It had teeth in the front and was painted orange. It was very fast for that time.

I like everything about the car. Yet, my favorite part about it is the engine. That Chevy DZ 302 is top notch.
It's a cool piece, for sure!
Been a fan of this car for a long time. Killer lines!
Cragar S/S rule!!!!!
I can't imagine this car with any other wheel combination than Cragars. Perfection!
