When the logs on the summer house expand and contract (and they will) two things can happen - fixed conduit can pull apart, and water ingress. Good to use an s shape flexible conduit section to allow for expansion/contraction of the timber walls. Also be carful not to fix CUs across logs as vertical expansion will split the wood. A cabin this size can expect a 3mm per log expansion so that's 45mm contraction/expansion for the whole wall.
appreciate the input, I was always told pvc and wood expansion rates aren’t all that dissimilar, so that along with the non glued joints allows for enough movement. I have been back to a couple of jobs we done a good 2-3 years ago and all still looks good so hopefully may not have many issues. Glad you pointed out the CU tho, that’s something that’s not crossed my mind before so I’ll be cautious on that in future.
Nice job, i was thinking you may have possibly been able to drill through the corner and not use the copex your running singles so could keep the drill size down may have been able if you are good with a drill not break into the room, i worked for over 40 years installing alarms and managed it , in all fairness i only had a small telephone size cable but i think it might have been possible, nice job though thinking out of the box exactly what i would have done going around the outside nobody will see it 😀 a lot of people would have done it all on the inside and most customers would have thought thats the only way! Great job - I hate seeing conduit on the inside of the shed. Two quick questions. My log cabin has vertical battens to cover storm braces on the outside which would make it difficult to fix a run of straight conduit. Any reason not to use the Copex all the way round? Also, for 62mm log cabin walls, would you use bell connectors on both sides of the wall? Thanks for a great video.
No reason not to use copex only it’s not as pleasing to the eye, you can easily bend solid conduit over obstacles tho for a nicer look. Or even just a small section of copex over the obstacles if you’re not confident in bending the conduit, but it’s really really easy. 62mm you could probably use 2 yes. Or female adapters etc

@@Cablesmith cheers mate, very helpful. I've seen other videos and the inside of the cabins look like the inside of a submarine with all the tubing and cables. Very clean install 👍
@@TWOWHEELFIX thanks matey! I do try and keep it to a minimum or hidden as best as possible!
I’m same as yourself mate I love doing the summer houses. Was subbing for a boy and done about 20 on the bounce for him a while back.
The lads at Glasgow Rewires do some excellent work smashing them out in a day or two. The boy that owns it lives round the corner from me as well so might see if he’ll get me on a few jobs with him 👌🏻
20 on the bounce, now that’s living the dream 🙌🏻🙌🏻
33:14 you scousers never change do you.
I was waiting for your comment 😂😂😂
How much?
Too many factors at play, they’re all a different price.
Nice
Thank you
Were are you based please ?
Manchester 😊
Do you think you could come and rewire my summer house please
@@taze_ray791fn5 depending on your location, I certainly could.
First 😁
😂😂😂
👍
Thank you 😊
I need a job sir please
What's with RUclipsrs hoovering up outside 🤷
haha I take it others have done this then ?
Only when it’s on a patio like that, anything else and I’d wash it away with a hose
10mm was way over the top. 6 would have been fine.
Not on a 40A supply for the length of cable it wasn’t. Didn’t meet volt drop requirements
@@Cablesmith fair enough although 32a would have been ample for a summer house with a few sockets and a light.
Still, good work though.
@@niceguy235uk1 yea would have been fine on a 32A your right, there is a couple of heaters going in there tho, just like to leave a bit of wiggle room for expansion.
Thanks dude appreciate you watching also 👌🏼
Ai ììiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Thanks
Your video was very helpful and I did my best to adopt a similar approach in my build. Thanks Dennis ruclips.net/video/IRj0wZkEVrI/видео.htmlsi=2iLrajvSgrLCKGF5
@@IntruderFilmStudioappreciate that mate! I’ll watch your video tonight too.
Great video mate, would the cables going through the conduit not need to be wet rated? Concerned about low temperatures and condensations maybe...
No, they should be fine. I’ve been back to make adjustments and add extra sockets to one recently that I installed over 2 years ago, no signs of water anywhere.
