It would be great to see the cats sometime. We miss them! My family adopted an 8 week-old black Maine Coon Cat kitten a few months ago from a kill shelter in rural Kentucky USA. It is a total mystery where he came from. We paid $30 (thirty) dollars for him with a free neutering done recently. What an incredible stroke of luck and a great bargain. He is gorgeous and now I understand why people love this breed so much. His fur feels like silk. I would gladly pay the thousands of dollars they go for here, now that we understand how incredibly special these gentle giants really are.
I was taking low-dose aspirin for years.. 1/2 of a baby aspirin a day. that’s 40 mg. I do physical activities and as a result ended up getting internal bleeding. Both a doctor and surgeon came to me and said you have to immediately stop taking any aspirin. I was 60.
I suggest adding ibuprofen to the list of drugs to avoid while on aspirin, since many people don't realize that ibuprofen, Advil, and Motrin are all the same medication. Thanks for a clear explanation of risks and benefits.
Thanks for this doc! There is a history of heart disease and diabetes on both sides of my family. I'm in my early 50's so I decided to take 81 mg/day for about 2 year now. I intend to talk to my doc about aspirin next visit.
@@JoshBenware the people that were injured or the family of the dead may be. The experiment is still running and should be spoken about and people should be held accountable
I’m 52 and have been taking 80 mg per night for 30 years. I also take vitamin c , Hydrolyzed collagen, probiotics and DGL to negate the negative sides effects from stomach bleeds
When I was 62, it was discovered that I have Essential Thrombocythemia (without the JAK2 component), so I have since been under the care of a hematologist and, with his help, have successfully maintained my platelet count in the normal range. Included in my treatment, which centers upon the use of Hydroxyurea, is the inclusion of a daily aspirin. I was doing this, anyway, from my forties. At some point, I decided to use 325mg aspirin and have been doing so for years. But, after watching your video, I am now thinking I should reduce the dosage to 81mg to be safe. My hematologist agrees with that decision. I carry a small supply of aspirin in my pocket when I am away from home, just in case of any chest pains, and there have been occasions when this was needed. I have no history of heart problems and have never had a heart attack or stroke. Given that I recently turned 70 (October 2022), I'm now wondering whether or not I should continue the aspirin at all. I'm relatively fit and weigh 154 lbs (at 5'-11") and get plenty of walking exercise.
Gary, the video was for the general population who do not have increased risk of thrombosis (clots). I can't give specific medical advice to you but patients with essential thrombocytosis can be at increased risk for both arterial and venous thrombosis and hematologists would look at the International prognostic score of thrombosis (IPSET) to make a decision on how best to manage a person's risk of thrombosis which may include anticoagulation or EC ASA 81 mg daily. Best regards.
Thank you so much on this topic,I am 51 and have high blood pressure but never get stroke, heart attack etc,I was on aspirin everyday but cannot take it everyday cause of bleeding now I does take it once every week can you advise me what I should do best 🙏
Hey doc, missed you and good to see you back. I was seeing one of the top cardiologists in San Antonio about 5 years ago (I was then 65) and he had me start taking low dose aspirin as some of my risk factors were higher than he liked. From these new studies I assume you would recommend reviewing this treatment regimen again. (Would have to see a new heart specialist as I moved.)

Hi Dr Moran and thanks for all your info and videos. I Just wanted to ask in all seriousness if you don't mind?, clearing up some confusion, In regards to the cardiovascular side of things? Whats the difference on the body/heart between Paracetamol and Aspirin? I ask because we generally tend to use Paracetamol/Ibuprofen (headache/general pain/ailments/hangovers etc...) over Aspirin this side of the pond here in Ireland/EU (its generally discouraged/not mentioned with regards to the Paracetamol/Ibuprofen combo). This aside, Aspirin is nothing like a vitamin, so daily/regular intake obviously seems nuts (effects on liver etc...) aside being prescribed for a "limited" period of time by your doc for some condition or other of course. But would doing the exercise, eating healthy and/or taking the the odd Aspirin/Alka-Seltzer dose once/twice a week/bi-weekly or whatever be in anyway advantageous/disadvantageous? or is it only beneficial maybe say where hereditary/congenital disease is concerned?
Wouldn’t taken aspirin for stroke increase the risk of dislodging and making the obstruction go deeper in the brain making it more difficult and dangerous to do surgery?
Just if you're interested. I was sick with Delta Covid in Jan 2021,almost died. Last month September 26th I got sick again with Covid. My voice completely disappeared for 3 weeks, still talking raspy. I didn't do the vaccine though. My husband and son did 3 vaccines each, and both got Covid together with me. All of us were treated with bebtelovimab.
Hi Dr Moran, can you do a video about the virus they released in Boston? I been having anxiety about it, I hope it doesn't leak out, what do you think about that experiment? Me personally find it risky or playing with fire, maybe you might have a better understanding about this than I have.
I bruise so easily when taking low dose aspirin! I had a TIA ten years ago and have been diagnosed with fibromuscular dysplasia and thus, take the low dose aspirin. Could I still get the benefits of aspirin by taking it every other day and would help the bruising?

i’ve read the opposite. that in many males age 50-60 aspirin a day may have caused instances of heart attacks at the very least may cause excessive bleeding.
Yes it's possible to cause bleeding in males, but we're talking statistics here. It's more common for males to have Hemophilia because the responsible gene is located on the X chromosome which they have only one copy of. If it's defective then it causes the problem. I believe in thorought testing of blood parameters and genetics, then everyone should assess the risks and decide themselves.
BTW. In my country it's assumed that after a certain age there's a risk of hemmorage and the use of Aspirin is discouraged "if not absolutely necessary". I personally (33f) take low dose Aspirin for a 2-3 weeks only when the "👑 is in the town"
