IMO, when you look back over British history the last 1000 years, what you see is that there have been a few invasions, and a few very violent civil wars, and periods with large numbers of beheadings, even genocides, large scale deportations and brutality in general. So when Elon Musk says it's going to be a civil war, I'm inclined to believe him. The government thinks it's going to crack down on the protesters and everybody will submit. Instead what's going to happen is that the protests never stop, and they get more numerous, and bigger, and more and more violent. If the government doesn't back down and reverse course then they either flee the country or get their affairs in order, same goes for the Islamists.
Successive British governments have been demoralizing the population in order to make all citizens feel isolated, alone, easy to control. As more people join the protests they will feel the strength of numbers and it's going to be the first time in their lives they feel powerful. Then even more people will join, and that feeling of empowerment will be even stronger, it's like an addiction to cocaine spiked with PCP that keeps on growing the more people join in. There will be no stopping them.

As an avid historian myself, Dr Starkey is an absolute encyclopaedia of what has happened to this Country right up until today. As for the rabid excrative repugnative Blair, Brown and cohorts, the only directive to them should be to the court in The Hague 😡😡
After many years of naivite I'm beginning to wonder if Blair and his corporate masters didn't start all the wars that they did in order to create mass movements of cheap labour.

He's wrong about parliamentary sovereignty tho. Our membership of the EU was enshrined in parliament's laws. The ECHR was incorporated through the Human Rights act ie through parliament. Parliament has overseen the delegation of it's powers through secondary legislation from so called Henry VIII powers to statutory instruments.
Through all of these hundreds of years parliament has remained sovereign.
We have been saying that for years. It’s time we put him in the dock. He needs to be tried and locked away for what he has cost our beautiful nation.
Blair has a great deal to answer for. In my candid opinion he is guilty of treason and ought to face justice.
He's a mass murderer who was recruited by the secret state while at university.

It's a system that has served us well through history. The indoctrination by left wing ideologues in our education system and the vast amount of people who did not bother to cast their vote are responsible for this government's huge majority. PR frequently ends up with parties having to do deals with other parties in order to form a government thus watering down what things they are able to achieve.

The last point made here is so important. I often try to explain to my British friends how valuable their history and all it gives them really is. As a Canadian, I have none of this. Canada is the proof that a society for everyone is a society for no one. People here trace their family history back in time to know who they are, and many refer to themselves by their ancestor's nationality, because being Canadian could mean anything, thus it means nothing. We don't know who we are and it shows in terrible, insidious ways especially since 2020. Hold onto what you have at all costs, dear Britain, and value it.

Starkey really knows his stuff! This is an amazing explanation of how the powers of Parliament have been greatly diminished since Blair onwards.
Our votes count for so little as a result.
A major restoration of Parliamentary power is necessary if our democracy is to be truly democratic.
He's wrong tho. Parliament's powers haven't diminished, it chooses to delegate powers to other bodies but it could, if it so wishes, bring them back. Parliament can make any law it wishes, this was true before we joined the EU, while we were in the EU and since we left.

Starkey is BRILLIANT. I have been watching all of these lately - Spiked, PopCon speech, this. He’s hit the nail on the head.
I was tutored and taught by him at the LSE in the early 90’s. A very interesting man, not really as people imagine him, one of the best experts on Tudor governance. A great and humorous historian. I don’t agree with all his politics but he’s a seriously intelligent man and deserves better public acknowledgment.

I totally understood what David was saying at the end of this conversation. The history he felt as he stood in Westminster cathedral and how much it mean to him. I would also recommend to anyone in
Scotland to go to the Scottish National portrait gallery in Queen Street in Edinburgh where you will see the people who made Scotland and where much of Scotland's heritage comes from. You will get the same feeling that David described here.

Even without further devolution the city halls have overreached themselves. How else can London say that Trump isn’t welcome , Glasgow say that Tommy Robinson isn’t welcome , and now Liverpool’s response to recent events is to declare that Nigel Farage is not welcome. I just hope that in two of these cases , politics will shift and confront their boastful disdain for anyone that doesn’t bow down before them. Beyond emptying our bins, lighting our streets and feeding hungry school kids they should not feature.

Mr Starkey mentions a general election about to happen in 2 weeks - so the 2 hours ago showing on your video (today is the 4.8.24) is very misleading, making it look as if this were a very recent video. Please change the time/date so it is relevant.

What a scary title: How to Save Britain! The United Kingdom is one of the greatest nations that have ever graced our planet and to hear from so many people that it needs saving is unsettling. Here is what I think has to be done to get the UK back on the track of being British. There has to be a dress code or something like it that gets everyone looking like they shop in British clothing stores. You can read between the lines. People that come to the UK must not become their version of British by not respecting the local customs. There can be nothing but law-abiding citizens in every corner of the land. First, though, Britain must return to being British. Nick Lowe had a song called 'Cruel to be Kind'. You must get everyone on the same page and then build from there. Customs can be respected from foreigners, but not to the detriment of British values.
Would it were that simple. You can put to men in a pantomime horse costume but they will never be a horse. Who we are and what we are goes deeper than how we dress or speak. Past generations of our blood builds a nation and it's people.

I am an inventor and an artist and all I do is build proto-types and all you can do is try to get one that does the job. If I were in charge of the UK as daft as that sounds, I would require a 3-year-period where all religious dress was only permitted in religious facilities. I would require that British customs would be observed in all cases. This would be a time-bomb, I know, but it would put everyone on the same page and then you go on from there.

The act of union is still valid in law, so devolution means that it should be null and void! The bill of rights and and the declaration of rights states plainly that the monarch cannot give power over to a foreign principality or entity! Which means the Queen was in breech of her oath when she assented to England going into the EU! The MPs at the time that’s why they held a referendum and left out all of the details of sovereignty, Charles de Gaul knew this and he plainly stated this fact in his speeches!

The only changes which need to be made to the UK electoral system are compulsory voting, as a duty of every Briton, and a preferential system. You may still finish up with the same Party in government, but the citizens are responsible for their choices.

I say England should vote for independence. As a scot l would move there to help you with that.
Scotland independence would work better if they said it was a Celtic nation inderpendence .
at this point I think they would end up with most of the country .
