For some ships there's no real discernable theme, sure, but with most you can at least match colors or whatever. For ships with some iconic theme though, using the right gear skins is PARAMOUNT. For example, Laffey gets the carrot torps, Enty gets the eagle planes, Neptune gets planets revolving around her, Roon gets murder axe torps, etc
Yeah, agree with you. I usually bring a gear skin set for any ship girls then they have to bring the same set, for example Cyber Era set on Laffey II, i equip on her with auxiliary gear skin, dd gun gear skin and torpedoes gear skin as the same set cuz it really fit with her theme

Soyuz is clearly ice character so ice skins, Alsace is clearly fire character so fire skins and Musashi is clearly lightning character so lightning skins. I just wish they would introduce more aux skins. Also so true about the psyche of mind telling better skin = better damage. lol
Finally someone says it! Gear skins are FUNDAMENTAL GAMEPLAY! My Javelin can tank a lot more with her hero shield aux gear skin, trust. Also agree plane skins need to be redone. Not only from the fact sometimes a plane is cool but the bomb/torp sucks, but also the Fighter/Bomber/Torp bomber slot u mentioned. It sucks to want to give a set to a CV only to not have 2 Torp bombers...

i only really care about skins for shelling, and one of my top ones is for vanguard guns with the shooting cards. they spin midair and just look really sick, especially on harbin/bayard

Not gonna lie, I Do use the missile torp skins for my US DDs and Jets for my US CVs, as well as missle skins for my US BBs. This way I Always now when freedom strikes. Essex stoped asking for jets because now she have them, and seen her happy makes me happy.

Colour and theme sets are very important, especially if they can be done fleet wide. We have enough fire tondo that now thankfully.
Nothing beats the "FAKKYU!!" shell skin, or the mini Kizuna AI bombers with FAKKYU bombs, literally dropping the F bombs on the enemies.
