- The radioset RF-10 was developed in between 60's-70's of last century. This set with coded name "TAKT 1" was dedicated for tactical operation in squadrons and troops patrols or headquarters company. It was taken into service in 70's and used till the end of 80's. More than 30.000 pcs was manufactured. In the beggining of 90's this radio set was replaced by RF-13 (coded name Radmila) mainly because of digital and encrypted communication needs.
The technology employed significantly outdistanced other competitors. For example USA in the 70's used PRC-77 which the RF-10 greatly surpassed in smaller size, usefulness, lower weight, etc. In those days Czech army used RF-10 mainly for communication on company level, but the utility did not end there, thanks to its adaptability they were mounted in the vehicles, served as telephone relays, also they found use in fire fighting, civil defense, flooding areas rescuing etc.

Impressive for the date of manufacture..! It looks like a much modern tactical radio. Many thanks for share it for the lovers of "those old green bugs"..!
I love the way you speak english your accent is awesome! Great video
"No raining, no training!" ❤ Great! 😂 I like the shape of the RF 10 radio. Is not so heavy like our Gernan version from the seventies, SEM 35. But the quality is outstanding and sets standards.
Thank you Michael for your great video and for your good English. I have just purchased one of these from a Czech military surplus company so looking forward to it being delivered to the UK, not sure what condition it will arrive in but will take what comes. It was good to have you explain how it works and the warning about not to have two antenna connected. Would be nice for you to do the part 2. Thanks again G6JEF.

Thanks Petr, Can't wait to see part 2.
Thank you so much :)
@@michaelscoofield Be very interested in a part two? Thank you for part one.
Very nice video, many thanks!! Robert K5TPC
Hi Mike, thanks for the interesting and informative video! I look forward to part 2. Note that the AN/PRC-77 set is a significantly older design (issued 1967, designed before that) , has a wider frequency range (30.00 - 75.95Mhz) and higher power (up to 4 Watts, ignore the Wikipedia page). They are easy to maintain and great to learn the basics of fault finding on. That said, I'd far rather carry and use a Takt 1.
Many thanks for additional information Rod. Best regards, M.
630th sub, you earned it man!
3:00 "No raining no training"...😃
Thank you for a very interesting and informative video. I may buy one of these to use in conjunction with my Icom 7300 for test and other purposes.
Would be great to see the various antenna setups that come with the kit
Wow, I'm very impressed with your English.
Kéž by takové pěkné video bylo i v češtině.
Hello Nice video
New subscriber 👍
Thank you so much. Hope you will enjoy it. MS
michaelscoofield No problem. I have a "similar" Finnish version LV-302, from the same erä, but perhaps not as nice.
Subscribed too. I am watching your vids for longer time. I do not know why I did not subed already...:)
michaelscoofield 😀
Of course you have been here ... :)
I just bought two of these and notice yours is in pristine condition. Where did you get yours? I would like to buy some in perfect condition. And your tutorial was excellent thank you sir! De W5TAH
What is the maximum voltage at the radio can handle ??? ??????
Great video! Keep going and make Part 2. I just purchased one from a US seller and I'm waiting for it to be delivered. My #1 concern is the battery pack. I'd love to see a way to modify the battery pack to accept standard D-cells or other battery types.
Brian Haren Hi try to check the battery pack replacement here : ruclips.net/video/DqAlHcuCUdM/видео.html
Great video. Thank you. Are you able to show actual comms? And accessories?

Hi Greg. Some of them are under SOP... I will see what can do legally. Cheers.
hi im peter , can you show a vedio of repacking of old battery and a web site to buy new batterys from? very good radio thank you
Thanks.
How would you go about charging the batteries in the pack?
How do you charge yours?
Hi, the charging is done using original army box D see here: rf-10.nazory.cz/d.htm but you can do it simply with 7.5V PSU with current clamp set to 0.5A and voltage clamp set to 7.2V...
Michael, I have the an issue with this radio. When in urban areas, the noise is constantly there in all modes. Is there a way of adjusting the noise limiter / squelch?
Dennis does it happen on all channels or just on specific one?
@@petrok1rp254 it is on all channels indeed
@@petorian Dennis, does it happen in all areas > everywhere you are coming and try? If the radio has still opened SQL then be noted that the RF-10 is highly sensitive. It is therefore perfectly normal that in city traffic and many times outside it has a permanently open the noise gate. If it doesn't fit to your needs then you can try to change its settings with the R401 trimmer (see schematics), but I don't recommend it !
@@michaelscoofield yeah, it is in an urban area. So probably a lot of QRM. I’ll first try how the noise is elsewhere.
I am looking at buying one of these sets. How can I get/make a charger for the battery pack? Also if the pack is bad how could I make a new one? Thanks for any help.

Edit: I bought a second one not to long ago and found a company that can rebuild them. MTO battery. They have rebuilt many RF10 packs.
Is it legal to use this?
It depends to country band allocation. In some countries army already left this band, somewhere it is still in use...
