Done it I'm over 50 my hair was going grey though I would take a radical change and dyed my hair platinum blonde the transformation was incredible made me feel wonderful. Age is not a barrier you can do anything you want my mantra is " do it go for it"
Alright, so a few things. 1) never go roots first- the heat from your head will act as an accelerator for the chemical reaction, and will make the lift Uneven (as you can kinda tell at the end. the roots are quite a bit lighter. to avoid this, you can use foil or just do the roots at the end)
2) a toner has no lift. if it has lift, it's not a toner.
3) none permanent color, doesn't need to be washed out with shampoo.

Why did you start with the roots first? Wouldn't the roots process faster than the ends cause of the body heat?

He has short hair ... Would only get a few milliseconds difference coz he apply pretty fast... So it doesn't matter if you start from the roots or not
It does. And on top of that, he started from the back of the head.
Some people start in the back as it can take longer to lift than the finer hairs in front. Some people start in front cus they say that’s where they want the lightest (where the client sees.) both are “correct”
@@ninjasummerwush859 that is incorrect. That's only the case if the hair is basically a buzz cut. If it's under an inch perhaps but anything over that you absolutely would not apply to the roots until later. Only the first half inch or inch of hair is directly affected by the heat of the scalp and his hair in the back is easily a couple inches long and even longer in the front.

Platinum? Nope! Sorry mate, it's yellow blonde, caused by insufficient pre-lightening. You should have left roots and application to mid lengths and ends first. He'd probably have needed a second application to take it to a pale yellow, then the toner you used would have produced a beautiful, pale and icy blonde colour. There's no shortcuts to bleaching and toning hair I'm afraid!

Starting at root. Going to make it lift quicker than the end. Leaving a yellow cast. Start end first and then roots. Development is key when lifting 👍

The bleach should have been applied to mid length and ends first, then to root area, as the natural heat from the scalp accelerates the lightening process at the root area, Also, the hair was not lightened sufficiently enough to take the chosen toner, so a second bleach application was required. Had that been done, then the toner would have taken beautifully, totally eradicating the unwanted yellow tones.

Just had this done. I have a darker complexion and it still looks great. Would recommend if you want a radical change.
A virgin colour/bleach application is applied MID lengths to ends FIRST. You then go back in and apply to the roots as this takes quicker due to the heat from the scalp. This produces a more even colour. It could also do with being a little lighter then you need to tone the hair to remove any unwanted warmth to achieve platinum blonde. I would update your education before passing on incorrect information to others learning.

It's true, they guy is not much professional at all, 1st the roots are lighter then the rest, bleaching process must be done first in length and tips and after a few minutes apply to the root, so the hairdresser is noob or he just wanted to make it faster... Also it's not toned correctly, it's too much yellowish.

Issue with taking the sides that short when bleaching is maintenance. Either it's a one-off look, or good luck bleaching the roots when the very short sides regrow.

I'm no one to criticise another stylist's job, but that colour is the level bleaching needs to achieve in order to be toned with an ash toner in order to then turn Platinum blond, virgin hair application cardinal rule is mid length to ends and root application last as it processes quicker due to scalp heat and prevents the client from getting too much chemical exposure that can irritate, blister or burn the scalp, which a scalp protector should be applied prior to the bleaching process. But great work all and all!
