COVID-19: Hunger, cold and poverty in lockdown

- Опубликовано: 21 авг 2024
- In one of England's most deprived towns, people are queuing for food as the winter lockdown bites.
As well as poverty, people in Blackpool and across the UK are struggling more with mental health issues as job losses, business closures and not being able to see family and friends take their toll.
If you've been affected by any of the issues reflected here, you're not alone.

This is a view shared quite commonly between left & right wing voters, yet Johnson & the Tories have retained and grown their support for years even when there was a genuine choice with Corbyn offering something very different since he opposed private wealth & corporate power. Right wing voters massively underestimate the power of the media which they claim to hate, a lot of their views align very strongly with the messages transmitted by the corporate media.

Utterly, utterly heartbreaking.
Our country is in such a bad state. We have to pull together help level up our country and give people a fair chance.
Cut foreign aid, pull out of the endless wars, start taxing the multi national companies their fair share and start investing in skills and jobs for young people. We have to do better than this for goodness sake 😩
@Steven Steven I can agree, but my point is we need to start putting it into action Steven
Nevermind cut foriegn aid. We should stop it completely, at least until the country is back on its feet (if we ever do recover that is). The 10 billion we are sending abroad in foreign aid could help massively towards homelessness and our own people going hungry. No one will send us any aid if we end up in the gutter (which is where we are heading).
@Steven Steven 10 billion pounds is not peanuts no matter what scheme it's part of. 10 billion pounds could almost certainly end homlesness in the UK for the forseeable future. So sending that money abroad to line the pockets of foreign politicians is disgraceful.
