Hi! I’m planning to do a similar itinerary this January. Wanted to ask, where did you stay when you went to ginzan onsen? All ryokans are fully booked and from my research, the transportation closes early. Any recommendations?
Yeah it's hard to book a ryokan without doing so far in advance. I stayed in Yamagata city using the bus back to Oishida then the train. I think the last bus was 18:21, for that day in early December. Hiring a car was of course the plan!
