    Larenz Tate is shamefully underrated as an actor. He's kind of like the black Gary Oldman. He has an incredible range and can literally play any part. Ironically, if this movie had come out within the last few years he probably would've garnered a Best Actor Oscar nomination.

    In real life this happened the exact opposite Frankie did leave Emira to go make a comeback but they did give him a chance to record a new song and that’s when he decided to celebrate by doing drugs so basically the movie made it look like he killed his self on purpose but in real life he overdosed on an accident

    This is a dramatized version of what really happened. If you research Frankie Lymon, he had just got a deal to record again and that's what lead to him overdosing.

      Not just this scene Juan but pretty much this entire film was dramatized. After watching it someone might get the impression that Frankie was a wasted talent who was not strong enough and independent enough to stand on his own and make it in the world. What the film conveniently left out was how Frankie was taken advantage of and raped by a grown woman when he was still just a boy which basically scarred him for life. Sure he made mistakes on his own along the way but the people in his life who were supposed to be there for him and protect him ultimately failed him in every conceivable way.

      I don't believe that. At all, I do think they denied him and the owner of the label was once asked about it. He tried covering it up. He was rejected I just know he was, but this movie is horrible representation of him, and it doesn;t look like him at all. I think the end was the only thing that was right. I know he didnt party that night, I know it. I just feel it, he died saddly and I know it. Performing was the air he breathed, being rejected would have crushed him completely, and him being clean for two years going back on the same dose he left off on would have caused an overdose. I know several herion addicts and this is very common with them, they typically overdose after being clean for a long time. One guy in my area a super nice guy, overdosed after struggling for a few years with herion samething. He got clean for a little while and slipped , overdosed and died. So anyone who says anything is I know is not true. I just know it, if I was anyone in my past life even tho i dont believe in past lives I think I would have been Frankie Lymon, idk why. I just do, I know he was rejected I know something bad happened. I sense it, I feel it. And they're were several people who had hinted to the label guy about it, . Anyone who knows the music business at all would have denied him. The music industry was changing, the music business is expensive, they don't have money to take chances on everyone. What he should have done while clean was try to revive his imagine to a changing music era and a good manager would have encouraged him to do that. He wasn't selling as many records in the songs he did before we went clean and into the army along with his new wife he met. He not only was struggling with drugs during that time but his sells were dropping because he was doing alot of cover songs, which is what they do when you are not making enough money, and eventually you are dropped, this happened to Leona Lewis. When her sells dropped she started getting more cover songs and eventually was going to be dropped until she decided to end the contract herself. So taking a chance on him with as prejudice of a time as it was, yah right. I know something bad happened. I just sense it in my gut...

      @@xyPERSON Of the movie left out a ton of important things. There was a script written about him with the intention of making of movie but this script was never used and someone else made the film. I was really soo upset by the film. It doesn't look like him at all, I wish I could just remake the movie myself.

    • @brittanyritenour4695
      @brittanyritenour4695 2 года назад +2

      @@xyPERSON I think the only right part of the film was the end and how he died. Obviously they hit some basic facts, but he looked like he was lip sycing the actor. He didn't act or talk like frankie lymon at all, which was the worst part of the whole movie is they didn't even try to find a "Good Actor for Frankie Lymon", he swears every five seconds which I doubt frankie lymon did, Frankie was very charming, very smart, and intelligent for his age. it is good to note that he was not chosen to be the lead singer because the lead was sick, the producer heard him in the background and tried him out for lead because he was a great singer. So they tried him out and it stuck. No one knows that part. Also a lot of things you are not allowed to say in a label, so there was a lot that frankie lymon was most likely not allowed to say. So like how the label slowly removed the teenagers from the covers. Frankie Lymon didn't have a good hand or good management when he went solo. He went solo because it would have happened anyways, he was the strongest potiental artist. He had the biggest career so it would only make sense for the music company to eventually move him out. However managers in labels at that time were very crooked unfortunately. One thing that has really been improved in labels today is helping young artists transition into adult success in the changing markets, a good manager would, but a lot of the managers didn't have very artist friendly arrangements. As soon, this is with any mainstream label, as soon as you sign to record under a label, you sign your rights to the label, so the label all owns it, they have owned it ever since they started recording since why do fools fall in love, so the anger about the end where the "Wives were stiffed", this was very common under labels and still is today just not as bad as it was, where in order to record in a label at all whether its sony or gee record frankie was once under, as soon as you sign it they now have all the rights and royalties to your songs and i'd be thousands of dollars to get that back. So if you leave the label unless you have the money to fight it, you agreed to it, even tho most managers in those days failed to address this.

    This is why I don't like movies that are "Fictionlized Versions" of someone's life, which are supposedly based on the real life story. I like to see a movie that's either a true story and as accurate as humanly possible, or a movie that's just purely fictional. I hate when they present something as the "True story" when it's actually just a bunch of crap that somebody made up. This scene shown here is NOT how it actually happened. Frankie Lymon was actually given opportunities to make a comeback but he didn't capitalize on them. Instead he went down a dark path. This scene was very well acted, but since it's actually completely inaccurate that sorta ruins it.
