Mavic is good enough that it’s hard to need more, though dji probably will do something crazy like a full frame sensor on the mavic and somehow makes us buy it and improve on something that is effectively perfect

Danish A2 drone operator here. Owning the Mavic 3, and the C2 (if it gets that?) certificate/weight class is a total dealbreaker for me.
The extra 70mm equivalent and larger aperture on the 7x is not worth bumping into the C2 category. It's just worth so much to fly almost hassle-free due to the original being in the C1 concerning safety distances.

Everyone jumps on the band wagon for the pro and not all the reviews I've received is worth the upgrade from the Mavic 3. Hard to believe reviewers who use different drones as I like to hear from someone who once available will tell the truth about the experience. One day someone is saying "buy the classic it's the drone for you" now you should buy the pro. Drones are not cheap and when you have less than 100 subs you can't afford to keep buying the latest and what they call the greatest. This is my opinon not DJI lol..

I am sticking with my current Mavic 3 for a while. Already a great drone. Dont use zoom that much. I usually make multiple gigapixel 360 panoramas (up to 100.000x50.000 px) and regular videos.

Because it has a c1 label meaning you can fly in open a1 ... that is a huge benefit. Like the new mavic 3 pro he has a c2 label meaning you can fly in open a2. All drones with weight bellow 900 grams and a c1 label they can fly in open A1... and the mavic 3 is just below 900 grams ...the mavic 3 PRO is just above 900 grams due to the extra camera he will never be flying in open a1..only a2 or a3

It wouldn't limit you in app per-say, only in the geographical zones with DJI flysafe.
There isn't a licence, it's a proof of competence, so for EU the minimum to fly in a congested area (city etc) would be an A2 Certificate of competency along with their associated operator and flyer ID. This will allow flights within 30m and 5m in a low speed mode horizontally of uninvolved people but no overflight. So in reality you're gaining valuable knowledge along with a proof of competency and not too much of a huge issue with distance either. For example in the UK, we ditched all c lass ratings, so we are stuck with a 50m distance regardless and only up to 2kg, as where in the EU they have up to 4kg.

If I could afford, and saw the need of, more than one Mavic I might consider bying it. However you can under no circumstances under-communicate the importance of the weight. European A1 or A2 - it's like day and night! I would actually go so far that these are to completely different drones, with totally different usabilities.
And I'm fine with that. I've been reading some rather aggressive comments on the web, and don't understand why so aggressive.
I believe this is a really, really good drone. And I do believe the third lens can make an interesting differens. It's simply just not for me. I like to fly in the city, close to, but not above, people. No reason to be angry about that.
Therefore, in Europe, there is also no reason to feel tricked by DJI for resonantly buying an original og a classic - these "old" Mavics are far more usable drones😊😊 Be happy about it!

Thanks for the review here, it's helpful. I have two main issues with the new third camera here, the first is you are locked at f/2.8 and unless you're shooting at night or with filters the lack of a variable aperture limits its use. The other is the 1-1.3 CMOS sensor is still truly only 12 MP, just upscaled. Not bad specs overall but I think it'll be hard to squeeze the same quality you get from the Hasselblad out of it. For now, I'm sticking with the Mavic 3 but will keep watching for updates.

    • @daygeckoarthawaii1360
      @daygeckoarthawaii1360 Год назад +2

Quad Bayer is not upscaled from 12MP to 48MP. The sensor is 48MP with a grid that covers 4 pixels with each color cell. The sensor chip converts the raw data to a fake standard Bayer image. You get more detail but also artifacts.

All I'd need to do is sell my Classic with battery and controller and pickup the 3 PRO and I would be set. My watertight case awaits with four extra batteries. What's holding me off...so far, is the crappy still camera specs from the other two cameras. The 12MB still camera is useless for me. Lightroom's 'Enhanced' option for increasing the MP size might be a help. Anyway...keep em coming.

As someone who does Aerial Imagery and Videography for a living(not to sound like a douche) I wanted to put my 2 cents in this debate on whether upgrading to the Mavic 3 pro from the Mavic 3 is justifiable. In my opinion unless you’re shooting for high end clientele(TV, Commercials, Big Name publications, etc) it’s really not worth upgrade. Given the specs, the Mavic 3 Is a seriously capable drone that can produce top tier media quality that easily meets the needs for 98% of individuals in the business. The additional features on the pro and pro Cine are awesome, however, those additional features aren’t going to really set your work apart from someone using the base Mavic 3 unless it’s utilized for clientele needing those features.
Remember, people made/make a living with the Mavic Pro 2’s quality. The new bells and whistles are great but your editing abilities make the difference.

@@geo30197 Interesting! Interchangeable cameras at an affordable price is going to probably make me choose Autel over DJI. I'd love to have the Inspire 2, but it's too expensive. The Autel system alone would make it over the Mavic 3 Pro.

The United States doesn't have the weight restrictions that the Eu does. It's bad enough here as it is but not as draconian as what yall have to deal with.

It's too bad the weight limit in the EU prevents this from being a serious go-to drone for videographers and photographers there. The one huge advantage with changeable lens camera drones is obviously the ability to change the focal length. The Mavic 3 Pro is the next best thing, plus it allows a lens change while still flying on location instead of RTH to change lenses. For many, this truly is a game changer. I'll likely get one when they sell the drone only with one battery and charger.

Notworth the upgrade or money, hell,no. I would love too see dji influencers tell the truth sometimes , oh but i get it, u dont have to pay for it like we do. Its clear, nothing else need to be said. One extra lens willl never make u a better story teller stop the madness!
