You managed to escape the carnage of the city and travelled on foot for days to reach the secret secluded outpost. The building is secure, reinforced at all levels and stocked with provisions and weaponary. You settle down in a chair and fire up the monitors, checking for movement within the forest and listening to the emergency broadcasts playing on loop. The screens in front of you show no signs of life amongst the dense trees. Surely you're too far away from civilisation for the infected to find you here you think...For the first time in a week, you're able to relax, knowing you're safe

I like to imagine that this is an Alaskan outpost and we are there to monitor the wilderness. Supplies come in by boat in a harbor nearby. Of course, this a futuristic type of building with a substanable energy supply and waste management. I love this video, I can watch the rain for hours before I fall asleep. The radio chatter is surprisingly calming too.

If you ever come to Alaska just know that it's pretty beautiful wild life out there. Lots of trees or Christmas trees and big hill's as far the eye can see.

Excellent, part dark, part cozy outpost atmosphere... The only flaw I'd note is that the music is too loud, though the music is otherwise a perfect fit with the overall ambience. If the music had been just strong enough to complement, but not distract from or drown out, the rain and the radio chatter, then this video would have been near perfect...
I will release a version without music today, stay tuned!

This one is a bit more emotional to work while listening to or to sleep to, better suited to think about oneself, one's place in the world, relations to others etc. The other one is more about freshness and renewal. an outpost with huge glass windows, lightly furnish with a desk bed and a sofa with a 3 monitor set up with some cozy bedspread and blankets with your partner located in a forest not far away from a town with a small population with solar energy, food growing around you. what more could you ask for
Being at an abandoned place in a world where no one can come remove you is like worrying about you car breaking down every day then it finally does and youre RELIEVED and didnt realize how stressful it was. Everything bad has already happened now and passed.
I think thats why introverts are drawn to these places of rest. Maybe it comes from after a parent punishes you. You worry all day youd rather it just happen bc youre safest after youve let go if control or anticipation and you know you survived it.
But its sad when we cant wait for today to be over. Every day makes our whole lives and we were never at peace.

This world us humans have built is really strange and not good for us...

Note from the previous shift: The Outsiders can imitate human voices. If they see you they will try to trick you. If they hear your voice they can imitate you. Stay indoors. Don’t talk too loud and ignore any voices you might hear from outside. They are out there and they are watching you.

using this as background while I read The Three Body Problem for the first time
I’m just now beginning my foray into seasonal work with the Forest Service, and I’m really hoping to snag a position as a fire lookout next year. Unfortunately these lookout towers aren’t nearly as common as they used to be, and lookout jobs are much fewer as a result. But I’d like to have that experience of being surrounded by ambient wilderness, hearing the animals and sway of the wind at night, all of it.
Must be an amazing experience. Reminds me to maybe to an ambience in such a place, great vibe! Reminds me on an indie game I've once played: Firewatch. (highly recommended)

There is something so alluring about an government backed outpost set up in the middle of the woods.
I always have this idea for a story, that after the Invading Aliens conquered earth, they would set up these salvage outposts scattered throughout the world in abandoned or uninhabited locations after the war.
The primary purpose of the outposts is to give a assistance for survivors to actually find comfort and live in a fairly secure building from the harshness of the wilderness.
But the secondary purpose is to collect any survivors and take them to the population centers to get them to actually live in their territories.
Anyone else besides me hear a random cartoon spring noise ?? Im only checking otherwise this is beautiful ❤️

I want to have this view, one day..
I've worked in an simial environment for a short period of time and I can say that it feels exactly like this, for the first hour. The following hours are pure boredoom the most of the time, at least until the emergency call of a another store didn't start to ask to me to close some barricades due to alarms in certain sectors where we didn't have cameras. Is is also full of tension generally, you know that your partner (at least for me we were in two at like 100 meters of distance from each other), can't see all and you may be the one that may save his life advising him and then advising the manager or the authorities.
It wasn't that bad after all, I'm introvert, so it was fitting me well, but the hours were destroying my life circle.
