Farnham's chemistry with his audience is just amazing.
This song is, no word of a lie Australia's 2nd national anthem. Every Aussie knows it. Also His rendition of the beetles song "Help" during the same concert is 30 out of 10.
I can see why!
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert There is so much to listen to of John Farnham Once you start its hard to stop If yoy have time he did a fundraising concert for Rwanda back in the day It shows his great talent It was put together in a week It was great
I second all the above! “Help” showcases his vocal range. Also Granada with Anthony Warlow.
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert cannot co-sign hard enough the recommendation of Help. Genuinely a better arrangement if the sing than the Beatles original, with vocals for daysssssss
I would say the list is 1. Advance Australia Fair, 2. Waltzing Matilda, 3. You're the Voice and after that its anything by ACDC, INXS, Crowded House, Kylie Minogue
I guarantee you, there’s not an Australian alive who doesn’t know and love this song.
I am so happy that you are discovering John Farnham for the first time. My generation.
This song should be sung at every rally worldwide. So apt for even 2022
when an Australian child is born I think this song is already programmed into us . I think people who have never even heard it know every word ! 🤷♂️😅
Lol. Spot on.
❤❤❤
Watch what John does at 7.42. He throws the microphone stand 30 feet into the air and then catches it without loosing a beat. He was the best of the best at utilizing his microphone stand.
This song should be the world anthem...... I remember this song coming out as a kid, holidaying on central NSW ..... good times...👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺...... mate you should do ...Redgum ... I was only 19..... another great Aussie song
I’ll add it to my list 🙌🏽
Yep. Shpuld definitely be the WORLD'S anthem. Such a people power movement song.
He is the best live performer I have ever seen!
John Farnham/Jimmy Barnes - when something is wrong with my baby.
Wow. I usually don't watch reactions to songs I don't know, but I trust you. One of the best songs I have seen in years. Didn't know him or the song. Thank you. This was stunning
John Farnham is a legend. So glad you enjoyed it.
Have you checked out his live rendition of “help” with the Melbourne symphony orchestra? It’s just as good.
@@James-lw3gi yes. I have checked out a few songs. Help was amazing. He made the melody and the tone of the song fit the lyrics. Great performer
Often referred to as the unofficial Australian national anthem. One of my all time favourite songs 😀😀😀
Amazing song and performance 🙌🏽
Does anyone else really feel like weirding this guy right out, asking him to react to Sadie and Mr Whippy? 🤣
@@JAWs313 ROFLMAO!
You want soulful, listen to him with another Aussie singer Jimmy Barnes, singing ‘When something is wrong with my baby’
yes
Yes a must especially live performance on hey hey
ruclips.net/video/vKb0jD0R6M4/видео.html
Yes on Hey Hey Its Saturday with diesel playing too
Yes! God please get him to react to that! So damn awesome!!!
As an Aussie I totally Love John Farnham - Farnsy - . He can sing anything but he’s an amazing performer as well as singer. He loves his audience and they love him right back. He always involves them in his concerts. He has a wonderful sense of humour too and can be so funny on stage.
He is a legend here in ever sense of the word and more . His live work is always better to watch than studio clips as well.
He's just incredible John Farnham!! What a voice!!!
That's why we call him The Voice!
@@rickandersen2284 👍
Farnham, rhymes with Barnum.
And just as great a showman!
Lovely reaction 2 Da one and only John Farnham. All his songs r awesome he sounds better live and is one of best ever 2 step on stage
Amazing vocalist for sure

While Steve Perry from Journey is known as "the voice" (love him) around a lot of the western world, John Farnham is know as "the voice" to all Australians...he is an Aussie icon we are all so proud of. A good song to listen to, is him performing live a cover of the Beatles song "Help" with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and also doing a duet with another Aussie icon, Jimmy Barnes LIVE singing "When Something is wrong with my Baby"
The lyrics so powerful and needed today
John is unbeatable live, his connection with his fans is wonderful
Thanks for reacting to John we call him the Voice down under, he’s 71 now and sounds as good. React to “Help” next at the same exact concert with the Melbourne symphony orchestra. This song you reacted to is called “your the voice”
Thx George,im 55 min late!
Thank you George!
The big drums are kettle drums Psul McCartney used bagpipes in Mull of Kintyre song
@@stephenqualtrough7322 and apparently the original had bagpipes in it but the US record execs didn't like them so they weren't in the US release.
He’s amazing and that’s impressive!
John loves his audience and his musicians. He's a performer and man, he can sing. This was the last song of the evening for that concert - powerful. We love our John.
He is a larrikin all right. And an awesome singer. Great reaction 🙂
Amazing talent 👏🏽
Rad, as soon as I saw the thumbnail I couldn't click fast enough! I'm an Aussie so I'm so excited! John is an icon here. He's been singing since his teens. This song is from 1986 and his greatest hits. More please?
Touch of paradise
Help with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. This is a Beatles cover but John's version is slowed down. Thank you
Thanks Evie. I plan on checking out more 🙌🏽

I like your comments about living in parallel universes....not being exposed to artists(even great artists) from the "other" universe. In this electronic age it is amazing that this separation of the universes still exists. Long live RUclips with it's ability to bridge that gap!
Yes! RUclips is definitely A bridge. Thanks again Rick 🙏🏽🙌🏽
Thank you for your reaction, John has been around singing in Australia since the early 1960s, he could have made it big back then if he had chosen to leave Australia (We have a small population in comparison to other countries), But he loved his country and his family, so he never made that move, many did back then, like the Bee Gees, and AC/DC and others he has had a great career, and if you asked most Australians, he is the most down to earth, loved and respected entertainer in Australia :) i'm glad you enjoyed it! like George who posted below, if you get a chance to do another of Johns songs, I would suggest HELP :)
He’s amazing Sandie thanks for recommending him to me. Fun fact: growing up Australia was one of my favorite places(never been) because i was a huge cricket fan and next to the West Indies Australia was my favorite team. Shane warne was my favorite player.
ruclips.net/video/vKb0jD0R6M4/видео.html
Didn’t John tour internationally with The Little River Band, just before the resurgence of his solo career with Whispering Jack?
@@sallycook because you didn't say...I wasn't sure where this was going.
@@rickandersen2284 I was replying to Sandie who indicated that JF didn’t take his career overseas. But, apart from LRB, I think I recall JF joined a whole bunch of other Aussie entertainers who tried there luck in England. Have I got the bull by the proverbial horn maybe??
Playing bagpipes with other instruments, player's use a B flat chanter to match the same pitch as a usual bagpipe pitch is completely different, but sometimes having bagpipes inserted into a tune can give it a haunting sound.
Thats a trademark of John - the ability to provide next level entertainment- every element is covered. So much is always happening in his shows. Such a holistic approach, really.
Hey🙋🏻♀️ I’ve never heard this song but it is great song. See you on the next one😀
Glad you enjoyed Jean 🙌🏽
ruclips.net/video/vKb0jD0R6M4/видео.html
Loved your reaction. I'm Scottish by ancestry, and know that whenever an anthem-like song is performed in the UK or the Commonwealth, there will be bagpipes! I think the drum you're asking about is the big one on its side, it is simply is called a "concert bass drum". You could also check out We Will Rock You by Queen + Adam Lambert (I think it was in 2015) which has a bagpipe and drum intro.
Nice! Thanks Sharon. I’m currently on a queen journey from the 70s onward so i might not get to 2015 for a while
You can't go wrong with anything by John Farnham. If he isn't the finest popular music singer ever then he's not far off it. Next, try Burn For You, it'll blow you away. His vocal emotional range sets him above the crowd with Burn For You being a perfect vehicle to display his amazing talent.
Taking notes 📝
The Little River Band is definitely a band to review. John Farnham was one of the singers with this band, but also, check out the early years of this band - terrific material.
Love listening to John Farnham
People definitely have to listen to his other songs throughout his career
ruclips.net/video/vKb0jD0R6M4/видео.html
i have seen john farnham 6 times over 30 years and every time his performance was amazing...he is a true aussie icon and a fantastic performer..x
He’s amazing! I’ll be doing more reactions for him soon
I haven't heard this before! I love hearing new music :) thank you so much for reacting to it!
We’re learning together Sarah 🤗
Australia's unofficial National Anthem. Even Coldplay said it. Farnsey is around 60 years old here and you can see a whole new generation knows this song. Enj😀y. ruclips.net/video/19JN50bLKjY/видео.html
Guy, for being an introvert, you are doing amazingly well talking to the camera, and giving good eye contact.
Lol only took me 60 uploads to start getting comfortable lol thanks
Rousing great voice and orchestra plus John's band and back up vocalists. Magic❤
Great reaction. John has many great songs and it's best to listen to his live concert versions as he is the consummate performer. He's a bit of a larrikin and has an awesome range and rapport with the audience. He's in his 70's now and can still belt it out. He's an icon herein Australia...He is 'The Voice'.
Two performances you really should see....."Help" (same concert) and "When Something is Wrong with my Baby" (with Aussie icon Jimmy Barnes). Such a talented singer and a really decent and likeable guy.
If you love the bagpipes then check out another Aussie group, ACDC, the video filmed in the streets of Melbourne Australia. Here you'll hear and see the older ACDC from the 70s with the then lead singer Bon Scott. Sadly, Bon Scott died in 1980
I have started my AC/DC journey 🙌🏽 there’s a reaction in my page
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert I read somewhere that John Farnham's bagpipes in this song was a tribute to ACDC. He would have been mates with them.
So glad you it. Thank you for a wonderful review.
Every performance of John’s is terrific. He’s been singing in Australia since aged18, he’ll be 72 this year. To attend his concerts are brilliant. He’s a humble, honest, funny man. Loves his audience and usually talks to them. As you can guess, we love him here. Oh, not being rude, but his surname is pronounced Farn-m. No that doesn’t look right lol maybe it’s our Aussie accent lol. RUclips Search - John Farnham interview, a short one and you’ll hear pronunciation 😊
This is really great Jarrett, first time hearing it. The singer's voice reminds me at times of the singer for Survivor Jimy Jamison. "Eye of the Tiger". God bless my friend.
Thanks Bill! Might have to look into him
MUST LISTEN! TEN YEARS AFTER, "I'M COMIN HOME" LIVE
John Farnham is the GOAT.

Yeah John Farnham is an absolute legend. The dudes voice just won’t quit. Awesome voice, awesome performer.
Welcime to "The Voice of Australia" My personal experience with John Farnham was due to his reaction from his 1987 Whispering Jack LIVE. EPIC!!
ruclips.net/video/vKb0jD0R6M4/видео.html
John Farnham has so many incredible songs! Check out Chain reaction and That's freedom.
Well done Mr Jarrett . You give very respectful reactions to music that is worthy of respect . Keep doing what you are doing my friend.
Bagpipes are also used in a song done by AC/DC back in the 60's called "Its a long way to the top" (if you want to rock and roll). Bon Scott the lead singer plays the bagpipes.
PS: There is a parody of Its a long way to the top. Its called "It’s A Long Way To The Shop If You Wanna Sausage Roll"
johns been singing hits since v 60s, fine voice!
If you like symphonies, check out the Danish orchestra and symphony doing the theme song of "the good the bad and the ugly". Lots of unique instruments and just amazing
You noticed the raspiness in his voice, you should check out his performance with Jimmy Barnes, another fabulous Aussie icon when they sing “When something is wrong with my baby”. A really soulful song!
You give our John 20 out of 10, I subscribe to you!
He is Australia The Voice Been around for 50 years singing his heart out You should listen to recent versions of this song His range hasnt changed Unfortunately
🙌🏽🙌🏽
I'm a 65 yr old from THE ERA of the BEST MUSIC EVER PLAYED OR WRITTEN...I have the line on the killer guitarists of the day. Check Hendrix, Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, SRV, Jeff Beck for starters...Johnny Lang and Quinn Sullivan some of our new young blood stars!
I see SRV who is currently the reigning king on this channel, yet to be dethroned lol
Great reaction. As others have daid, gotta check out his version of Help from the same concert- spectacular!
John is amazingly powerful and talented and versatile. Can't wait for you to react to more of his. Help live is just amazing ❤️
I love what you had to say, great reaction. Keep up the good work
This is one of my favourite Farnsy performances. We call him the voice in Australia. We love him here. ♡♡♡
His only hit in the uk(as far as I know) brilliant song no wonder the Aussies love it
Made my morning!
John Farnham is the singers singer. He is fan girled by people like Celine Dion and Heart, toured with Icons like Tom Jones and Anthony Warlow. Was the greatest Jesus ever in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar alongside Jon Stevens and Kate Cebrano.
You so need to check out the live version of john farnham and jimmy barnes “When something is wrong with my baby” it’s an amazing live performance
John Farnham - Help (with the Melbourne symphony orchestra)
If you want to listen to soul listen to John and another great Aussie legend Jimmy Barnes singing When something is wrong with my baby. Mind blowing.
The song is a remake of and old Scottish folk song if I'm not mistaken, that's why the pipes fit.
Wow what an awesome smile you have..🙃
If you enjoyed this you might like to check out Mitch Tambo. He has a unique version. Incorporating indigenous language from his own country. Country is reference to indigenous land specific to each mob within Australia and the Torres Strait Islands.
Strait
@@rickandersen2284 Thanks.
I'm guna subscribed for the shear fact you have a Bob Marley picture.... One love from NZ. Also John Farnham is choice.
Correction to my suggestion: The band: TEN YEARS AFTER The Song: I'M GOING HOME - LIVE
Got you Mary. Adding to list 📝
Great react mate! Please check out John Farnham & Jimmy Barne's "When something is wrong with my Baby" So soulful it'll blow u away bro! Both those guys are literally Australian Royalty, no cap!
Heart did a cover of this in their double heart greatest hits disc and Nancy Wilson was amazing with her power.
The bagpipes and symphony orchestra make this song.
Awesome Australia 🇦🇺
Ayreon the day that the world breaks down ... you will be amazed !!
It's such a pity computers etc. were not around in the 70's & 80's you could have seen him like we have here in Australia for years, he is our National Treasure he was a huge hit in a few other
countries but you Yanks are only just seeing him now. via reaction's on RUclips but it's obvious you like him too, he has many more great hits, but this one is his theme song, love you John.
Bagpipes originated in Scotland
PLEASE don’t break in. Just let him sing and give an evaluation afterwards.
Nearly 2K! We're creepin up!
The bagpipes where John’s idea
Try Bruce Hornsby The way it is,. Another cracking track
📝📝
Bagpipes are traditionally a call to alms which is what this fabulous anthem is all about.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Kettle Drums 🪘
Another Aussie band with bag pipes AC/DC, its a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll
You gained an Australian sub in me, for your reactions to John Farnham. Such a talented man, who can still sing (and he is now 73). I am not 100% sure, but I believe his last public performance was for a charity to raise money for Australians who had lost their homes due to bush fires (I think they are called Wild Fires in the USA). The concert was called "Firefight Australia", and Brian May plays the guitar on this song for the live performance. John was 71 when he performed this : ruclips.net/video/lqjNWuM2z-Q/видео.html He doesn't hold the notes as long as he used to, but you can't say he doesn't give it his all, despite his age!!
This is a great version but like many others the bit at the start with the boy soloist is missing
pronounce FARN -ham with emphasid on the FARN then fade to the - ham
the Bee Gees were a very poor family. They went to the same primary school I did and lived in the same place. Cribb Island.
The big drum is called a bass drum.
Please, please also do a reaction to GUY SEBASTIAN sings for Smokey Robinson in America..it is beyond amazing.Thank You.
For me this is the gun control anthem for the world.
Did you miss the microphone stand throw after the bagpipes
The key the song was done in was changed to fit the bagpipes …
Try beetles mull of kyntire for pipes
Bag pipes were played before solders went into battle to scare the enemy before conflict...we need to see each other as sons and daughters and put down our guns, fight against poverty, domestic violence not in wars in foreign lands
You shouuld really give a listen to the live version with Queen's Brian May, Olivia Newton-John & Mitch Tambo from last years Firefight benefit concert. It's available on Queen's youtube channel and it's pretty amazing.
ruclips.net/video/lqjNWuM2z-Q/видео.html
His voice took many years to develop with no help from his early management team.
They wanted him to sing the worst POP songs in a choir boy voice.
He found musical theatre and light opera where he learnt to sing properly, and then developed better and better after the years of theatre exposure...... until he could sing the ROCK songs he always wanted to sing.
🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺👏👏👏❤🦘🦘🦘
