The villagers on beta maps have very similar designs. I suspect those are the very first villagers to ever be created during the development of the game.
It's strange, I remember there being a video showing all the beta maps on The Cutting Room Floor, but apparently it never existed. It's on there now... maybe sometime later I'll delete it, have my memory wipted, and time travel backwards?

The lighthouse is actually accesible if you accept a quest from Mortimer where he goes on holidays and asks you to light the lighthouse each night. Thats what the lever is for
I think in one or all in beta maps have something in the mail,ok so if you check the houses mail,it will have mail in it saying,to iiiiiiiiiiiiii from iiiiiiiiiiiiiii and if you open the letter it will only be iiiiiiiiiiiiii’s. I got suspicious of the villagers when they kept saying iiiiiiiiiii so I did it myself and check the mail. This is just incase you wanted to know what was in the mail heh
The "iiiiiiiiiii" and corrupted names we keep seeing when talking to villagers are actually corrupted because they use Japanese hiragana and katakana characters in the original JP release but when Nintendo of America localised the game, they never bothered to translate those names. And since they cut out the Japanese symbols from the game it ended up corrupting them.
Yeah, technically you were on the island, but there was no town loaded or even in the game to go back to, so Kapp’n just kinda pushes the boat out, has an existential crisis, then the game dies

i recommend an emulator! if that’s not your thing and you have a wii with gamecube ports, you could always use that :) it’s cheaper and probably a lot easier than setting up a gamecube to a new tv
The entire game is under 20 megabytes, that's why you can remove the disc from your GameCube during most of gameplay with no issues - it all fits into memory. These unused and test maps likely take up practically no space at all, and removing them would take away from time spent on other development-related tasks.
@biancaanimations2 There's an Action Replay code somewhere out there to put a warp item in your inventory and another to change its destination. It's been years, I don't have it anymore, but you can probably find it.
I think I mainly focused on unused ones or just the ones that had things in them and not just an empty field of grass. Unless that empty field of grass uses a different texture.

MAP10 is probably a leftover from the n64 game, so its texture data probably didnt get converted.

Not really, considering the entire game fits into the GameCube's RAM, letting you take the disc out during most of gameplay without any issues.
