No, the fact that you are not the kid's father is what's stopping you from being a father to the kid. Because you're not the kid's father your the stepdad. And honestly I think the dad in that story needs to take that insecure little man to small claims court because something tells me he's not going to pay up otherwise.

My dad is technically my stepdad, but I don't see him that way because he treated me well and raised me right. In this case, the stepdad has no right to call himself a parent because he hasn't earned that place in 'Adam's' life. As the narrator said he's just trying to establish control in a situation he has no need nor right to. Those kinds of parents and step parents really piss me off.

    • @queerdeificeeli985

In my opinion, if you're a good stepparent then (with the child's opinion) you're not a 'step' parent, you're just a parent or an extra parent because the child won't see you as just a step parent, they'll see you as *their* parent and treat you the way they treat the others (if they're good parents/still around) if you're not a good stepparent, you're not a stepparent, you're a person who's married the child's parent/the one who adopted the child and shouldn't even get the title of stepparent, that should go to good step parents that have children still not fully there on the parent-child relationship.

    • @Twisted_Happy
      @Twisted_Happy 9 дней назад

Thats so wrong. So wrong. Just because you aren't the father means nothing! My stepparent is more like a parent to me then anything. Story 2: Yeah, the stepdad's actions could and will lead to op getting full custody of his son. I can say that he is worried about his safety and well-being of his son after the display of anger that SD showed. Also, he could point out that Ex-wife is allowing it to happen. Forget them replacing the gaming console, get the boy out of the toxic environment. If he does something to an inanimate object, could do something to worst if the SD doesn't get his way from the boy. I hope op get his son out of there.

Story 1: Honestly, i dont get why good cousin and the rest of her family are even in contact with entitled cousin here. She is an awful human being, and i dont blame any of her behaviour on the rich dad here. All the rest of the family seem to be nice and humble, while it is just her who is the spoiled brat. I'm surprised the dad didn't completely cut her off, rather then just threaten it. The entitled cousin really needs to be taken down a few notches. Hopefully the good cousin had a great wedding though.
Story 2: The stepdad here is so out of line its not even funny. The stepdad should 100% pay for the damaged xbox and he really should have zero say in Adam's upbriging, regardless of whether or not Adam is staying with his mom or not, and i sling mud at Adam's mom here for not standing up for Adam, taking the side of the stepdad and blatantly lying to the extended family that the OP is preventing Adam from seeing her. I can imagine that the custody arrangements are going to get rather heated because of this whole incident. Hopefully whenever Adam turns 18, he goes zero contact with the mom and stepdad.
Story 3: I hate people/neighbours like this stupid Karen. Moves into the neighbours and just bitches about everythig and anything, and for no reason at all. At least the police didn't take her seriously and got her car towed afterwards. Dont park in other peoples places. Idiot.
Story 4: The manager her is a complete idiot, and whomever came up with those rules. I get that giving some notice for time off is common courtesy, but appointments and other things in life can come up out of nowhere. If they give you any kind of discipline or termination when you have a doctor's note, you can legally sue them for wrongful dismissal, so i would've dared them to do something about it. I wouldn't have bothered with malicious compliance here, i would've just quit over that first warning.

This happened years ago but it still stings. I got engaged in February 1993 and in March my fiance and I set the date for that December. We let my family know to save the date. My totaly spoiled cousin got engaged that October and immediately set her wedding date for the same day as our wedding. She even said "Whoops. Guess you'll just have to postpone your wedding". Of course, I didnt because 1) why should I, and 2) we had already put dow non-refundable deposits. In the end, most of my family did what they had always done. They chose my bratty cousin over me. Not only did they not attend my wedding, very few sent a gift or even a card. Maybe I'm an A-hole but I no longer participate in their family events. I don't attend and I don't send gifts.

I can’t access reddit since I’m underaged but I have a story, here it is:
The time a Karen thought my brother wasn’t manly enough to be a man.
I’m the youngest out of three, oldest being 18 and the middle being 15 at the time. I was the youngest but we had no issues around that. My oldest brother had really long hair to the point it was longer than mine (I’m a girl). A lot of times at school he was made fun of because of his long hair but he didn’t mind it since he enjoyed his life with his long hair. A lot of times he would do my hair for school because he can with his. We are going to the city with me and my two brothers. We get ready, head to the car and our dad drives us to the station. We wait at the train station for the train. 5 minutes past and we get on. It’s 11:00 (morning) so it wasn’t packed full of people but I did have to sit behind a stranger, which me not going on trains a lot felt uncomfortable about. But my brother was there the entire time I was uncomfortable and held my hand since my parent expect both of my brothers to look after me since I’m the youngest. An hour or so goes by and we get off the train. I look around in amazement when I saw all the cool shops I didn’t recognise before because they were only found at certain locations such as the city. I begged my brother to go to one of the shops I saw and they said yes since I was so excited about it. I ran in there and looked at all the cool things, LED lights, plushies/plush toys, keychains and stickers. I stared at a really cute keychain until my brother came over. He looked at the keychain then the price. “It’s 25$, do you like anything else at the store or do you really like this?” He said. I of course being a 10 year old was devastated but I saw something else and ran towards it. I pointed at it then looked at the price. It was another keychain but this one was 2$. He said ok to buying it and I was super happy. We got in line to pay when a lady behind us tapped my brother on the shoulder and said “Ma’am your clothing choice is quite manly” my brother turned around and just glared. The lady gasped and said “My oh my your hair is long for a boy! Why don’t you cut it? It’s not proper for a man!” My brother then laughed and said “ma’am I’m 18 I can make my life choices, not you, plus I don’t know you and you don’t have legal rights to tell me what to do with my personal life” and once he said that me and my other brother felt powerful. It’s that energy that makes you feel like you’re the boss. The lady started crying for no reason to my brothers response. “I can’t believe you let your siblings see you like this! You’re such a bad influence!” She whined. I look at her and said “lady we were minding our business and you came and judged my brother first and now you’re judging my brother my his looks which don’t even bother you and you think it bothers us when we’ve know him for our entire lives.” My brother closes my mouth because he knows I’m gonna cause drama with this Karen. He turns around and walks up the line. When we pay my brother puts down the keychain and pays for it. I got super excited and started thanking him for the keychain. Lady walks up, pays for her things but the cashier said her card was declined and that she was in dept for 2 weeks. Karma’s a bi*** lady 😝😈😂

If this takes place in the US and they dismiss the doctors notice and fire the person they’re committing a felony because in the US federal law a doctors note cannot be legally dismissed by a business of any kind that means they cannot be fired or written up if they prove that they had a doctors note so if someone got fired from that company when they provided a doctors note they should sue in federal court

(for the last story) Not a Dr. but a sleepwalker when really stressed out. There isn't much harm in waking someone when they are sleepwalking hwoever it is disorienting to wake up from it but it can be extremely helpful my now husband woke me when I had been sleepwalking keeping me from going out in the winter while just in my pjs. Knowing that I was sleepwalking to that level allowed me to get the medical help I needed to cut down the stress that was leading to the sleepwalking in turn I stopped sleepwalking. My father also sleepwalks when stressed and in his youth it almost got him killed.
it's better to be disorented when being woken up than allowed to do something that will hurt others or that we will regret after waking up.

My scheduled shift was from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 a.m. and my surgery was at 8 a.m. the following day. When I was finished with my shift and getting ready to clock out they told the entire unloading crew because we unloaded the truck we were called the unloading crew, that we just need to stay and help stock some of the products because a few of the overnight stockers were out that night. We stayed and they would not let me leave for 6 extra hours because they threatened to fire me if I left for surgery

Letting a sleepwalker do their thing is only the safest thing because people sometimes get violent when startled awake. Should be obvious but you should also wake sleepwalkers if what they're doing is going to or could harm themselves or someone else, like if they're getting behind the wheel of a car.
Though if it's Ambien sleepwalking, you may not be able to wake them up. I knew someone whose ex-girlfriend drove an hour and a half to her house, had a full conversation that led to sex, then freaked out when she woke up the next morning because the last thing she remembered was taking an Ambien and going to bed at home. It should be noted that the somnabulance side effects of Ambien, especially this extreme, are fairly rare and more prevalent in women. The biggest risk factor for most is addiction, but if used correctly (not taken every single night, only when you actually can't fall asleep) that risk is fairly minimal.

This is why you don't date or marry women with kids. Because you are always going to have the issue of different parenting styles. While I agree with the OP, and the OP should have custody, Control freak stepfather who doesn't have a pot nor window, living in his wife's house trying to make rules, need to calm his tits or just get his own house where he would be in the right for being as demanding as he is. Fact is, this is why the automatic primary custody being awarded to women has been a problem for the past 60 years.

Heres a whopper of a story for you
When i was in sixth grade, i remember having a friend group consisting of six girls and me a boy. In that group there were two girls who were dating who we will call jessica and stacy. So must of us were pretty good friends, but as the the months passed by they got more and more toxic, one day i was hanging out with two other girls in the group during reces and was looking for the couple. As a joke i said to them imagine if they were making put in the bathroom, to make sure they dont get angry at me i tell them to keep it a secret and not tell anyone. Thats when on of the girls goes up to the couple and tells them exactly what i told her not to tell anyone. She didn't even try to hide it. My draw dropped along with my best friend. The couple came up to me screaming that they weren't making out in the bathroom. I apologize they accept and continue on with our lives. Fast foward its the next day and im getting called to the principals office, the principal tells me that i allegedly started a rumor. I look at her confused and tell her, no i haven't. She gets offended and assumes im calling her a liar. Before i can explain what im trying to say, she tells me that two girls were upset because of what i said during reces. I tell her i only told two people, and that the only they found out was because one of the girls snitched on me and told them. She decides to call her in and when we i tell them that she lies and says that o never told her that. I start to get mad and repeatedly deny the fact that i spread a rumor because its not true. The principal doesnt believe me, and calls my mom. Luckily my mom was smart enough to know i was in the right. And doesn't punish me. Ever since that situation i have stopped hanging out with most of them except for two of them because they knew i was right and still wanted to be friends with me. The others have grown to be more toxic and have even tried to tell me that my friends dont actually care and are just being my friends out of pity. I tell them that if my friends have a problem they will tell me not you. Nut i still cant help feeling guilty for tearing our group apart so tell me. Am i the jerk

No, NTJ. This was a situation where you'd find out who your true friends were. The girls whom you joked to didn't do what you asked and turned your joke into a rumour. They were the jerks and the principal is a -sexist- power tripping Karen who fixated on a narrative.
