My story about this beautiful scene: I'm travelling home for Christmas and have stopped into a hotel for the weekend, waiting for the storm to clear. I've just finished college and am not sure what my next step is. I sit in front of the window of my hotel room, watching the storm, contemplating my future. Will I go onto graduate school or go oversees for a year or two... ? The future is wide open which kind of scares me but is also exciting. For right now, though, I feel content just to watch mother nature coating the ground with a pure white blanket, the same color as my cozy pearl comforter on the bed behind me. There is a fire in the fireplace and I've got a nice hot cup of tea from the lobby sitting on the table next to my chair. I take a few deep breaths and just let everything go and relax and listen to the storm. After a while, I pick up the book on the table and start to read, a mystery that keeps my attention for a good hour and then I settle back into my chair, pull my plush cozy blanket around me and gaze out the window, wishing I could stay here forever. The next morning I wake up nice a warm in my bed and notice that the storm has abated. I decide to walk a few blocks into town to look around for last minute Christmas gifts. I put on my winter boots, thick forest green jacket and red knit hat. When I get downtown, I find a cute little bookstore and go in and start to look around. I find a couple of good books and decide to buy them as gifts for my mom and my sister. On the way back, I stop into a coffee shop on the corner and sit down for a cup of coffee and a chocolate chip cookie. I pull out the books and start to look them over. I hear a man's voice next to me saying, "Oh, good choices. I just finished that one." He indicates the book I am holding in my hand. We strike up a conversation, wind up hitting it off and we exchange phone numbers. That night I sit in of the window again and the storm has picked up like it was the previous night. But tonight, all I can think of is about the man I met in the coffee shop. I felt like I'd known him all my life. I sit in the chair with my blanket and watch the snow fall, daydreaming about this man, Ben. Fast forward 10 years, Ben and I are married and are walking hand in hand down the street in the town with the hotel that I stayed in when I first met him. We live here now and have two children. But this time we are outside and being observed by someone else staying in the hotel, a young man, watching us from that same window. He sees how happy we look and wants the same for himself. After we walk by and out of his view he sinks back into that same chair and falls asleep and dreams of a good life where he gets the job of his dreams and finds true love. And the next day he finds out he got the job he always wanted and had recently applied for. Could be a coincidence or it could be that room and that window are magical. Well, who knows, but take a chance and spend some time here. May all your dreams come true. Merry Christmas.

I just love everything about this! It's so comforting in its elegant simplicity (though I'm sure it wasn't simple at all to actually create it!), with the single candle bravely illuminating the night and everything still and quiet besides the wind and snow ❄️
As you said, I made it while thinking about the lighting, candles, and the location of trees and grass. It was hard but I was satisfied because I was able to make a good scene :) Thank you for liking it! ☺☺
Flawless. The snow falling - so random and realistic. Beautiful, subtle interior light, and a fantastic windswept scene outside. You keep going from strength to strength, ever improving! Superb!

The Magical Window. Story II: Cheryl sat in front of the hotel window watching the snow fall and listening to the wind howl outside while she sat in the worn, burgundy chair. The chair was comfortable, but she still felt stiff. She stretched her feet and hands, hearing the click of her arthritic bones. Doctor said it was good to stretch so she did her best. He said, "at your age you're doing just fine" --her age being 82. Cherly had ordered tea and hot soup from the kitchen downstairs and was told it would be brought up "soon". "The sooner the better," she thought. She hadn't had anything to eat since she left her daughter's house that morning for her week-long stay here at the old hotel named The Timber Inn. The name came from the tall timber trees covering the surrounding mountains. Her daughter, Jill, had told her she needed a break from caregiving and there was nowhere else for her to go so here she sat waiting and wondering what the future held for her. She knew that Jill was overwhelmed with her job and her own family and that she really wasn't welcome at their house anymore. She had had to sell her own house because she couldn't afford the taxes or the upkeep and it was just too big now that her husband Jim was gone. There was a knock at the door. "Come in," she said, shifting in her seat to face the door. The door opened and a young girl walked in carrying an old-fashioned looking wooden serving platter. "No, don't get up," the girl said. I'll bring it to you. She came over and placed the serving tray next to Cheryl. "Some storm we have tonight, huh?" she said. "Yes," Cheryl agreed, noting the steaming hot soup and tea with a smile. "Thank you, dear," she added, looking up at the girl who was probably in her early 20's, fit, friendly smile with slightly buck teeth, her short brown hair held back to a few plain bobby pins. She looked tired, though. She went over to the window and leaned against the frame, looking out at the swirling snow. She sighed so deeply that the candle flicker and almost went out. "Oh, sorry, she said," turning to face Cheryl. "I'll leave you to it. Enjoy." "Would you like to stay and sit with me, dear?" Cheryl offered solicitously. It looked like the girl needed a break and Cheryl felt like some company. Loneliness hit her hard at times, like it was now and the peaceful muted sounds of the storm outside weren't quite enough to soothe her. "Yes, actually," the girl said shyly. "I've got a break coming to me about now." She pulled out the chair at the table across from Cheryl and sat down. They both gazed out the window now, observing the storm and enjoying a comfortable silence. End of Part 1 Stay tuned for Part 2 note: to relaxing town owner. hope you don't mind me riffing off your beautiful creation here. if so, please let me know. love the scene. thanks.

A year later, a new winter has come again. I hope you have a warm and happy winter this year :) And I wanted to say thank you for liking the things I made 😁😁
The visuals are awesome, but why do I hear heavy snowstorm noises while the snow is just nicely and calmly falling down in front of the window? Makes no sense. When you see snowfall like this, you will definitely not hear a stormy sound like that. A version with "more calm" sounds would be great, maybe crackling firewood or something? Still a good job, though.
I just lov the sounds of wonder winter. So relaxing , enjoyable- especially with a cozy blanket and a hot cup of tea.
It's my pleasure to drink a cup of warm coffee while watching the snow fall :)

So...this is Minnesota at this particular moment.
NGL, but whenever it does snow like this I kinda wish I was at a cabin.

@@TheRelaxingTown Sadly…it is currently RAINY and FIFTY DEGREES in Minnesota right now! What is this weirdo weather?!?
Your inside looking out at the snow falling and you have the fireplace blazing away and

Your neighbors have called to check in on you making sure that everyone is okay during

other supplies as well and you as well as your family and most of the neighbors on this block
want be doing any long traveling except maybe to the store which is just a couple of miles from
your neighborhood but no one is getting out for very long except for shoveling the snow from the
driveways and sidewalks and the city and county maintenance crews are trying to clear the roads
and highways and the weather forecast says that it will taper off within the next three days and will
eventually stop by mid week and all the kids will be ready to go back to school and you and your wife
