Chocolate Fudge Traybake

- This is a super simple but super delicious chocolate cake recipe.
If you love chocolate then you definitely have to try out this cake!
No electric mixers required, just some bowls and a good old balloon whisk.
You can also make a Gluten free version of this cake by replacing the plain flour in the recipe with gluten free plain flour & an addition of 2tsp of xanthan gum. No other changes are required.

Chocolate traybake
Ingredients:
For cake:
-200g plain flour
-300g sugar
-70g cocoa powder
-8g baking soda
-5g baking powder
-5g salt
-60g vegetable oil
-180g buttermilk
-3 large eggs
-200g warm water
For frosting:
- 300ml double cream
- 150g dark chocolate
- 200g milk chocolate
-Extra grated chocolate for decoration or sprinkles
Equipment:
3 mixing bowls
Whisk
Scale
10 inch rectangle baking dish - anything of similar volume

I made this today and this is the first successful chocolate cake ive ever made. Thankyou so much. I also didnt have buttermilk so curdled milk with lemon juice like recommended above.

The first time i baked it. It was amazinggg! But today i made it the second time and the centre isnt baked :/
Did you use the same size tray the second time round? You can just leave it in a little longer if the centre is still not baked

Yeah you should be able to. Although the cake might be a bit thinner

300g sugar to 200g flour..isnt that a bit too much sugar?
There is also a lot of cocoa powder in it which is quite bitter, so its to counteract that.
