What if mindfulness wasn’t simply a practice for finding inner peace, but a lifestyle that could transform every aspect of your existence? How might applying mindfulness and compassion in your everyday interactions, from work to relationships, lead to meaningful and lasting change in your life?"

I met the said cat in a bar. Helped him to some drinks and then he said "I never asked the monk for some milk. I was happy with the mice i caught. I never asked him to buy a cow, or to get a woman to take care of the cow. I definitely never asked him to sleep with the girl taking care of the cow to have a kid. WHY AM I BEING BLAMED FOR THIS?? This is all SO UNFAIR!" Poor cat....

Agreed the story doesn't make any sense & did the story teller mentioned clearly the monk renounced his wife & children to live in the cottage? So that means he was still married while he was gallivanting with another widow, "f" sake🤔

Yeah, cat is innocent in this story.
The monk probably is also innocent.
The question then goes to the story maker:
Why he doesn't blame the rat for the problem?
Why he doesn't blame the clothes for the problem?
Why he doesn't keep his clothes in a box/container, so the mouse can't even get close to it?
The story would be much more make sense if he keep his clothes away from rats, and the moral of the story would be clearer and simpler: 'keep yourself stay away from negativity'
Well I guess the vid is not as great as the title (Note: It's from my personal opinion only)

a monk has decided to renounce to the world... i'm so sorry to tell you this, but it is trully impossible to bloom spirituality in a relationship.... and yes this is the way a man trully sees marriage and having children, is like the sacrifice of the self for taking care of others... i can't tell if it is the same for women, but i can certanly tell you that women will never ever understand that sacrifice

    • @crazymetallian

@@LM-1825 the point is that, in the tail, the woman was not a monk... and yes bloom spirituality in an occidental (and capitalistic/utilitarian) way maybe....
and yes mothers will always sacrifice themselfs for their offspring, but it is a very powerful impulse that is almost impossible to stop, it is not spiritual, is a natural impulse complitely contrary to what is seek in oriental spirituality... we man do not have that impulse so the sacrifice is more aware and that is something that you as a woman will never understand, just imagine that, loving a children without that natural impulse, is just crazy (most man love the woman more than the offspring, and still they decide to sacrifice for them)

@@LM-1825 I know it’s not a real story. But the lesson is horrible!
The original comment judged the story of an example of love. But it isn’t at all, it’s an example of selfishness that left a trail of pain in others.
We have to judge for without judgment we can’t improve. Of course, you are judging me as well 😁

What I learned from the story...the man turned from the world and his life in it,and walked into the forest alone to become a monk with 2 robes.instead of meditating and finding the answers he was looking for inside of himself,he kept returning to the world and people he left behind for the answers to every little problem he faced, instead of finding the answers himself.hence,he wore one robe as a monk, and the second robe to return to the world for help.he went to live in solitude, but kept returning to the people of the world, bringing pieces of the place he left behind back with him, which led him back to where he started.

Interestingly, I was just thinking yesterday about my life and saw this very thing in myself... I remember aa a child being tempted, saying no, telling myself it's OK, just once, I only want to try (for different things, not drugs)
Then I saw other things that were similar, and eventually not even having the conversation with myself but just trying.
I realized how many of these things became habits. Now I wish I'd listened to the voice that told me not to do most of those things.
I also noticed something most people miss the context of.. poison is sweet.
Most of the things that appear to be sweet, or cool, are bad for us and our lives, including TV, social media, smoking, drinking, etc.
I have a pretty long list.
What occurred to me the most is, we (especially in America) don't teach our children correctly. We should be raising our kids to drink only water and herbal teas, to eat mostly vegetables, fruits, and nuts as close to raw as possible, to meditate, and to always listen to that inner voice that instructs you. The more you ignore it, the less you can hear it. In just only 3 instances, and you can become deaf to thar voice, that guide, and never hear it again.

I'm not even talking with my parents like any of my father mother sister nd i have not any frnds like not a single one bcoz now i don't trust anyone nd i feels that every frnd ís almost selfish home....Im facing a lot of problems in my life ri8 now i completed my 12th around 1 years ago nd i have taken break from everything from the last 1 year coz i told my family that i want to take break from all of things nd want to drop my study ri8 now bcoz i want to follow my passion nd i want to give all of my focus time nd energy on my passion, somehow after listening 100000 words from my parents i got permission nd even now i listens everyday something from my parents like U r wasting ur time nd all of that ...........Nd now i think it's going to be about 8-9 months that I haven't talked with my parents or with my sister but u know what sir that i loves my mom too much nd i hadn't never been without talking with mom more than 1-2 days but now it's almost as i said earlier that now it's more than half of years 💔 Sometimes i thinks that go to mom nd talk with her but then i get remember that what my family said and all of bad things 🙂( but i can also understand that it's usual in india like if someone is going in something different line nd trying to be different from others then it will happen with everyone afterall i feel that I'm very lucky that i got this kind of mom nd even my sister but can't say this about my father 💔🙂 My dad is also very much good like in terms of knowledge nd all of that , basically my father is in bank manager but u know sir my dad's knowledge is much way higher than someone expect as manager, he joined bank at that time bcoz of financial issues in his family, maybe ias ips or something bcoz his knowledge is just ⚡ anyway but 4 me according to nature or behaviour i cant say as i said about my mom ,maybe im wrong but that's what i feel nd its from my point of view........when i decided nd started to not talk to anyone then i also decided that i will not do anything or any work of my home or anything that my mom dad will say ,nd i will not response but now I'm making change in this too , definitely i will not talk but i will do everything i mean every single thing that can possible nd everything what i can do,like any work in home or any help that my family members will want from me ,so I'm trying nd I'm doing this ,i doesn't talks single word but i just listen what they are telling me nd i just do that,im trying that it will be in my nature nd lasts forever but i have still a lot of problems 🥲as i said i started meditation but I'm not able to do nd the main reason is my anger 🥲 i don't know but before 8-9 months when i used to talk with my family members then whenever i got angry sometimes i had said something that hurts my mom or my sister nd after some times i realised that what i had just done what i just said why i doesn't control my words nd why im not able to control my anger 🙂This was also one of those reason why i strt meditation so sir pls 🙏 if u are reading this then pls give me solution of my problems that i told you🙏Nd i also decided that i will not gonna buy eat anything that i used to order online like Zomato etc. Will not gonna buy any dress or or grooming things or anything from my family's money until i doesn't starts earning from myself nd for what i had taken break from everything so that i Always gets reminder that i kept almost all of my personal nd favourite things on risk 🙂 No junk food nothing from outside 🙂 Im trying hard 4 keep my mouth nd mind in control until i starts earning so that i gets Always motivated....The sandal , slipper i usually wear to go outside have also got cracked little but I'm not using new one bcoz i want that i kept getting hurt everytime when i wear so that i always getting reminder continuously nd now im telling the most difficult problem that I'm facing badly ri8 now 💔who almost breaks me like as i said that i told my parents that i want break nd want to focus on my passion so at that time me and my father started fighting (like in words) so 4 taking time i just said ok i want 1 year if I wasn't do anything from my passion nd doesn't strt earning then whatever u will say to me i will accept 🥲 so my father said ok but he wasn't satisfied neither at that time nor now🙂Nd that time will be gonna over in march 2023 🥺 everything has been changed 🥲nd if things will not come under control under 5-6 days then i have to strt again from 0🥺💔💔 Nd now i haven't enough time nd im asking to shri krishna now that what's going Caring for the cat was an act of compassion and was the right thing to do. Avoiding the world is cowardice. Seeking constant peace of mind means forgetting the suffering of others. Running away from the world for the sake of personal tranquility is not enlightened but rather dehumanizing.

I lately start to grow a slight aversion of words like control or emotion regulation. For example, I think your video is less about controlling your mind, but allowing something to be and not try to control it, so that it starts controlling you. As for emotion regulation, I think it suggests a top down mind on body dominance, whereby I believe that emotion integration, a harmonic and functional interaction of emotional and cognitive parts of our mind is more desirable.

It is quite true what Philosophy says: that Life must be understood backwards. But that makes one forget the other saying: that it must be lived-forwards. The more one ponders this, the more it comes to mean that life in the temporal existence never becomes quite intelligible, precisely because at no moment can I find complete quiet to take the backward- looking position.

A lot of the human world is superficial and shallow to a great degree, so one should understand a standpoint from which participating in it is futile.
Most of the things people strive for are meaningless, they have just been taught or programmed so from peers and society.

We can ask for advice but we ourselves can determine & decide what's the outcome gonna be! The fact that he kept asking for help from other people from a small problem, that means he was not ready to become a monk himself. He blamed the cat over his stupidity & the moral of the story was that he cheated on his wife & children (that is what the story teller said), that's absurd!!

It seems like the real lesson here is that life will happen regardless of how hard you try to fight against it. Renouncing the world is dumb and all it does is make you subservient to others who are living life. This is portrayed by the monk needing to beg for everything since he renounced his ability to be independent. He woke up one day and realized that he was yet again living life, but seemed to think that that was a bad thing somehow…

Seems to me that the “monk” in this story is a sinner and the source of the problem, not maya or the cat. The monk abandoned his wife and children. How terrible and selfish. He then goes off and gets a woman pregnant. We can assume he abandoned them as well to go off and continue to be a beggar monk. Instead of taking personal responsibility and repentance he blames a cat for his sinful heart and behavior. Thus he is still troubled by it on his death bed. He is the problem, not outside forces like maya.

@@premdasyesudasan5778 do we have control or are we puppets to maya? (I don’t claim expertise on maya!!!)
Why does the source of our sin need to be external? Like the cat story, his behavior follows him. I suppose we could say outside forces are everywhere, but it seems more realistic to say the problem is internal. But that would mean the bad behavior is a sign that we are not good. We are bad. Perhaps I misunderstand but an outside force like maya seems to be a way of thinking I am good despite all my repeated bad thoughts and actions.
      Thanks

    • @premdasyesudasan5778
      @premdasyesudasan5778 Год назад +1

@@jerryyoung6494 Thanks for your comment. First of all, we all are puppets to Maya till the moment we attain Moksha by transcending the cycle of birth, death and rebirth. Attaining our real self is the goal. In order to do that we have to know who we actually are in the first place. Meditation is the way to know that.
All our problems are internal, not external. Maya is not completely external. It is too close to our internal self, Atman. Jeevatma, our Atman, in its jaagrat state (wake up state in our World) is in Maya. All our thoughts, emotions etc. are part of Maya. It is only when we go further deep into our self through meditation we enter the state of Thureeya (the transcendent state) and go temporarily beyond Maya.
We aren't actually good or bad. Our real state of being is beyond such duality. Maya is the force that binds us towards such things.

I am a distant descendant of Martin Luther or one of his brothers. The
Catholic monks as Buddhists are renounce worldly things. There is some
practicality to this because in our fast paced world most people just
react without thinking often leading to discomfort. In not being a part
of the normal world, how can a monk be it Christian or Buddhist give
advice to people? Pain and suffering is a part of life but so is happiness
such as helping others like the cat and the lonely woman who became
    his wife.
I've lived alone often meditating, thinking about writing the most perfect
book about Our Common Creator of the Cosmos. Then comes a cat
who desired that I adopt her. I tell her, "I don't like cats, never had a cat
    and don't want a cat!"
She didn't listen, now I have three cats and feed some strays when I
can afford it. I no longer run my house, I just pay the rent, the power,
give them food and water and act security when they go for their
hunt. Oh, yea I also change their litter boxes. I complain but to see
them content gives me another type of peace.

What I take from the story, is that in this monks life he was meant to learn about the responsibility of family, however he shunned the responsibility when it was given to him twice. The man failed in his duty towards family, he allowed his mind to chose monkhood over fatherhood and choose avoidance of life over responsibility of life. Instead of earning a living to support his family, he turned to begging. This man failed not only being a monk, but also being a father.

    _______________________________________________________________________________________
Don't think about the way how this story is shared or the details and the words that are used, because you eventualy will miss all the point of the story. This story reveals one of the aspects in our real daily life and warns us to be careful. The point is not to think about where is the logical connection between the rats, cat and cow. The story reveals one of the principles from real life which is:
Every day we are influenced by our thoughts, words, deeds and everything/everyone around us. For example the monk had found his own path i the begining of the story, but soon he was influenced by the way how other people think and act in theyr lives. He was influenced by them and by trusting them each time he finally reached the daily life he had set out to change. This particular story may relate to you if you have set out to become a monk. But if you look at the story as advice, as if someone is offering you to apply it in your personal life, then the story will seem to you without any sense. You might ask yourself "why should it be a problem to have a family and animals in the yard?" or "where is the logic and the connection between raising a family and drug addiction"? Therefore, friends, consider the principle revealed in this story depending on the course you decide to follow in your personal life. The point of this story is that everything that is around us affects our thoughts (information enters our minds through our five senses) and as a result our reactions are formed and decisions are made, and from there our words and deeds follow. This is how our daily life is shaped and with it our character is also shaped (of course I have not forgotten the genetic predispositions for which we have neither input nor choice). If we are not careful about the course of our lives, a little influence here, a little there, we may soon find ourselves in a surprising position that we never wanted. This is the lesson of this story, and it has a universal and daily application for each of us, no matter how varied our daily lives are.
I hope (and will be happy) if someone benefits from what I wrote.
