    The RV industry is just bad. I just had a debrief with my independent inspector I paid for, to buy a brand new unit. He found, microwave not working, on demand water heater erratic function, bubbling roof, sewer pipe missing a brace, loose electrical connections at junction block, main entrance door not shutting level or sealing, loose trim in bathroom, caulk issues around top of tub surround. We walked around and saw this as he explained it to me and the sales manager. I turn to the sales manager and ask, "didn't you guys perform a PDI". Straight faced, he says, "we did". OBVIOUSLY they did not. This is not a mom and pop dealer. Thank god i hired an independent inspector but the fact I had to is reflective of the low bar the RV industry has set.

    Five years after researching, and then buying, our TT, Josh being a huge part of our research, I am still watching his videos. His story at the start about weights is so true. We have a 1/2 ton, and I already knew we were maxed at 6400lbs behind us, and dealer claimed he could drop 10,000lbs behind it. We couldn’t leave fast enough.

    RVs are not the only homes that are in motion. I've been on a 25 year old, 28' long racing sailboat when the weather had been so poorly predicted that nearly half of an 80 boat fleet gave up before starting. We had winds gusting over 45mph and the "potholes" were six hours of eight foot tall waves. Nothing broke--because boatbuilders have learned these are the conditions they must meet. And it isn't so hard to do so.

    I live in Virginia and there’s a local Bish’s but they didn’t carry Jayco because of local dealer that did. I did get a great price from The Bish where Josh is, but shipping charges killed the deal, but loved the experience communicating with them. And one cool experience was when Josh called me to thank me during the process. Sadly, I only got the voicemail, but still a great experience, and wanted to thank Josh again, and thank you guys for this interview. Both of you are providing a priceless service, and wish ya’ll so much success, because then you’ll continue your journey and everyone benefits. I also love ROAD MODE BY JOSH. I wanted one that the bathroom could be used with the slide closed, but couldn’t get the perfect camper. We got a Jayco 263 RBS so not road mode friendly, BUT, it has the second door, so worst case, the bathroom is accessible by the second door. I’m also hoping if we could park with the slide towards the curb, we could put it out, or at least crack the slide enough to pass by at night to pee without having to go outside in the dark to get to the second door. Josh, keep doing what you do, keep refining what you do. Obviously, people love your videos. Everywhere we shopped, even nationwide over the phone, I’d mention seeing something from Josh the rv Nerd, and everyone knows who Josh is. That speaks volumes. I also appreciate Josh’s candor to admit other good dealersdo exist. I had a Jayco dealer 20 minutes from me, they used to be a family business forever, bought out by A&L RV, a family that owns several locations. That being said, my local place has better service than there other locations because the service department has the old manager and staff. That’s enough blabbing from me, thanks

    Just a thought. If you want to drive a boat, a car, a motorcycle or big rig, you have to earn that specific license. Shouldn't a person who wants to tow a small house with a vehicle have to, at the very least, be required to take and pass a basic course on towing safety? I personally, would like to see this become a thing.

    We live in Pennsylvania, I think we’re coming to Bish’s when we get to the buying stage. That is 7 years down the road. Between now & then we are heavily researching (and hearing some horror stories), going to the Hershey Pa RV show this week for 1 day. Next years will probably be 3 days. We will be renting several styles of Class C as well. We won’t be buying new. Wow, talk about buying differences from cars to RVs!!!! LOL We are very interested in Class C’s that do NOT have slides. I want to see what the loss of floor space vs the cost of maintenance/repairs of a slide. Here a lot of horror stories on just this one component of an RV. The only thing I can say for certain right now is I am glad we have the time we need to do this right. See ya in 7 Josh!! 😊

    Josh, I wish everyone would be honest and helpful on the WHAT TRUCK DO YOU HAVE TO TOW? That should be the first question to ask, not trying to sell the most expensive camper they can afford. Technically, my tundra should tow my Jayco 263 RBS with no problem, but I’m struggling with doing it comfortably. I have a top of the line Equalizer hitch, have towed cargo trailers 1,000 miles, etc. So, some honest fact finding and selling a camper that will comfortably tow, would create a great experience and a HAPPY CAMPER. To Josh’s point, we had a 1/2 ton truck with an 11’ camper, 5 people in that tiny thing, most fond memories of my entire life with my family. Keep in mind, 3 kids packed in that little bed over the cab. I wanted to rent one first to give my wife the first experience, but heard horror stories even from my friend that rented an expensive motor home, that the awning fell off during his trip, cost him like $1,500 to fix it on the road. That would have killed any future plans immediately!. As far as used, I was deathly afraid of a used rv. I’m taking a vintage rv restoration class so know how stick and tin are built, they leak after a period unless all cap rails and windows and doors are removed and resealed. And sadly, you can’t see water damage until it is too late. Many thanks to all of you

    I wish there was a license requirement and/or training before you can even tow, and I have towing experience. Josh, not trying to challenge the master, but have to disagree somewhat? My Jayco has a tag right on the camper as you enter and generally says “this camper was designed for OCCASIONAL USE”, or something like that. Now, to contradict my thoughts, The companies know people probably don’t spend $150,000 on a massive 5th wheel for OCCASIONAL USE, LOL. Bottom line, they want to sell campers, but takes me back to both of you and thank you for all you do to educate us. I learn from every one of your videos. Josh, a lightbulb just went off in my head. Cars have so many years, so many miles warranty

    I know it’s a lot of trouble and some cost, but the whole inspection idea, seems like a great win for all? The dealer doesn’t have the resources to inspect one like a paid inspector so if they can find issues up front, the dealer fixes them, provides proof they were fixed, everyone benefits. Imagine they find a major plumbing issue that will destroy someone’s dream with a flood, when it could have been eliminated it up front, and no black eye on manufacturer, dealer, sales guy, and no bad consumer experience. I wish everyone would realize a business can thrive by putting the customer first. If you want to debate that, go look at Costco’s success and their historical stock price. I’ve been a Costco member for 25 years, and never been disappointed, that says it all.

    your question of slides at a truck stop.
    FIRST. NEVER park where the commercial trucks park.
    They are required by law to stop every so many miles/ hrs. then need those parking slots. you as a rver can stop anywhere drive as many hrs as you want.

    I think the manufacturer should do better education of all the do’s and don’ts. Much better to go into rv ownership with eyes wide open. Just something as simple as DON’T DRIVE WITH A FULL TANK. Not disclosed in some fine print, or not at all until something breaks, then not cover it and/or chastise the consumer after they do something you forgot to educate them on, lol

    • @2KrazyKampers
      @2KrazyKampers  5 месяцев назад

      I agree. We have talked about this before. I think issues with RVs fall on the manufacturer, the dealers and the buyers. People need to educate themselves but dealers and manufacturers should help people understand what they can and cant do in the RV. People see "4 Seasons" and think they can go camping in North Dakota in December. Then they get upset when things freeze up and they blame the manufacturer. If the dealers would tell people "Hey, these are RV's are not designed to camp in sub freezing temps" people wouldn't have as many issues. Same goes for overloading, driving with full tanks, truck to tow with

    • @jerrytalley802
      @jerrytalley802 5 месяцев назад

      Hey Krazy campers. I posted a comment on this full time subject matter. My 2023 Jayco 263 RBS says on a little plaque or sticker on the wall of the entrance door. Made for occasional camping/use/ or something like that. These were never designed for what people are trying to make them work for. I am a well informed consumer, built houses from scratch, taken an online course on vintage trailer restoration and have repaired a whole rotted out front and back of a camper. I took 4-6 months to shop, watch every Josh RUclips video on any camper we were interested in and he helped tremendously. I still want to believe Jayco strives for quality. Their frames are integrated on the trailers which common sense says is light years ahead of welded underneath designs that are failing right and left. I just wish rv companies and dealers would embrace the customer and their concerns not fight them. I wrote the largest check of my life, around $34,000 for a 263RBS. The retail was in the $44K range. For that kind of money, in theory, you should get some years of occasional use without any major problems. I’m sorry, Jayco does PDI so first if they have strict quality control, then only minor issues should show up on PDI, because humans are not perfect. I can honestly say, I think Jayco builds a quality camper, but not perfect. I saw one video and it wasn’t Jayco but maybe Forest River? $150,000 5th wheel, dream camper for this guys retirement and water poured inside when he ran the shower, etc. The poor guy had to drive it across the country to the factory and can’t remember what happened. Please WAKE UP PEOPLE. With social media spilling the beans like Grand Design frames, if these companies don’t get their act together, in a bad economy, they will all go under, and I’m not kidding. McDonalds is struggling to sell hamburgers in this environment. Wait until it gets really bad or a 50% stock correction and look out.

    • @2KrazyKampers
      @2KrazyKampers  5 месяцев назад

      I agree. I think Jayco makes a decent product and try to do things right. After touring Alliance, they are another company that is trying, which is why we decided to become brand ambassadors with them. Alliance has a lot of quality control. Are they perfect, no, but they are constantly striving to do better and their motto is relentless improvement. You will see in an upcoming video some of their quality control tests. They have now installed a rain machine that subjects their units to 10,000 gallons of water to check for leaks, they run smoke tests in the lines and tanks and now they have an Earthquake machine that shakes each unit simulating driving down a rough road for 50 miles.

    Great program but interesting difference between the on-screen hosts. The lady had a lovely smile and seemed quite excited to be doing the show. The man had a look of being constipated for a couple of years coupled with getting ready to take hostages somewhere. Josh does a great job with his channel.
