Need to reconcile compromises with perfectionism: "If we only published our art when we thought it was perfect, we would never publish anything at all." from your video "Getting over perfectionism"

Can you do another video that blends this thought with your other video about "make it raw not perfect"? I feel like these two ideas are at odds with each other and I would like to see your reconciliation between the two ideas.

This resonates so much. I work in cybersecurity and it is so so true there: strip away technology, standards, regulation, process, etc, and hidden in the middle is the place where judgement, understanding, and feel - akin to art - comes into play. And Evan’s observation about that knife-edge balance point is spot on: don’t accept compromises, but also don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

We were just talking with an investor about Patreon last week-and how it’s drifted in ways that seem fundamentally opposed to the original mission. He said every single founder/CEO in his portfolio is having this problem right now. And it’s their biggest problem (which is saying a lot) and he’s never seen it like this in 25 years of investing
Even if it takes 3 years to turn it back around-the mission is worth it.

Someday I want to make an illustrated story of 'THE LAND OF *JUST*" ...(Where Amazing Projects go to die)
...where people in control say "ooooh...i know it could be like thAt but...JuST do it like this and JuST do that instead and that'll be ok" ...pretty soon the project that could've been Above and BeyonD ALL OTHERS...is now only good enough to be forgotten with all the others.

True! But what CAN you do....when you're stuck in a toxic work relationship you can't get out of? :-/

When you say “can’t get out” why do you think that? Is interviewing elsewhere not an option?

Perfectionism is the death of me. I don’t agree with this. Compromise helps me actually get something done. But then I am a massive underachiever compared to this guy so what the hell do I know.
