First online game I ever played. Runescape classic in 2003 on a dial up modem (earthlink ISP) with a shitty windows 1995 packard bell. Eventually turned into RS2 the next year after a beta. I was 11. I just turned 30 this year.
yo i play this and im 13 now! the only reason why is because my brother who is 26 still plays it too, and told me about it. Im only f2p and I have done every quest besides dragon slayer which is why I'm here.

For anyone who does not have access to these p2p teleports, all the teleports before the first pest control can be substituted with Varrock teleports, and all the ones after and including the pest control teleport can be substituted with Falador teleports.

I died to the dragon, went back to the ship. It had a hole. Oh no, time to go buy planks and nails again from the GE. I come back but the game wont let me. I had to go to another quick video to see how to get back. (Just talk to seaman lorris to take you to Karamja and run west to the entrance near lava). Barely made it in time to get my stuff back. It gave me a good laugh. Thanks for all the guides!

I last completed this quest in the Runescape Classic days.... The dragon was terrifying back then. I killed him in like 15 seconds this time but your fight here was nearer to what it was like for most people when the quest first came out. I remember a couple of friends helping me and bringing me around to complete the quest objectives because I couldn't just Google for help back in those days.
I love how I used to come back from school and spent nearly 3-4 hours for this quest, preparing-executing-actually killing the dragon + afterwards flexing at school about your achievement. Now I just did it in 25 minutes lmao. Gave an amazing nostalgia feeling though.

Just so everyone knows, if you are a hardcore ironman looking to get an anti fire shield so you can get a mith axe, you only need to do the quest up till 3:32, after this you may go ask the duke for a shield.
I remember doing this quest a year ago... the guide is 20 minutes, but I remember it feeling like well over an hour. It felt so great to complete the quest and finally be able to equip rune

HELPFUL TIP!!!!!! a rat can get on the exact tile where it's safe, watch out for it becuase if you don't keep an eye out you'll attack the rat, it happened to me and I ended up dying...
If you die against Elvarg, don't panic, my stuff was there for an hour when I got back to it. Pay 30gp to go to Karamja. Go to the dungeon in the centre of the same island. Elvarg will still be damaged but not by as much.
Thanks for this, really helped! I was able to watch as I did it. Slower than you of course, I had no teleports. Also if I didn't watch this, I would have died lol. I didn't have too much good food and I had to find the safe spot. Now I have full rune trim :)
If you're only doing the Dragon Slayer partly just to be able to consume antifires: you only have to talk to the guild master at the beginning of the quest!
How come im getting one shot... I have above all the recommended stats his fire is hitting me with the shield for 10 every time and hes firing like a machine gun...

I did every step but when I get to the goblin it doesn’t give me the option for the first commentary or to attack him. It says I still need to find a captain for my ship. Does anybody know why this is happening?
A little late of a reply but odds are you didn't ask the Guild Master where to find that map piece. I ran into the same problem and when i looked back through my quest guide on OSRS it said that. Hope this helps.
it wont let me in the mayner maze but i just brought the items recommended to enter or open the magic door, i just did it then "i tell my self i wont do any quests anymore.
Quick question, is there any way to complete this without getting the defence xp? I plan on staying 1def and therefore cant finish the quest, there should be an option to have it or not

Apparently the dragon has a hidden ability where he can freeze your game and do 900 damage to you while you're stuck there unable to do anything

If you have the magic requirement, make sure to bring a magic or ranged weapon. I had to run back to bank. RIP
When I talk to the oracle, I only get one option to continue convo and then I'm dismissed. I have all the items needed and the maze key!

No longer allows you to stack worm brain for 2nd map piece or give dialogue option to obtain it. Now what?

None of the ghosts at 8:40 are dropping any yellow/ orange key!!! What should I do??
Forgot to equip the shield. As soon as I got into the dragons lair I took 2 attacks for 35 before I could get to the spot
This quest was so hard back then. I played OSRS around 3 years ago and went extra high on attack, defense and so on to not get fucked by this dragon

I just needed to be at crandor for a clue scroll. Never had the intention to finish the qeust.
Same, i never did one quest then had to get 32 points a d get to crandor. All for 17 chaos runes, an addy battle axe and 4 lighters
