It is too fast I think, I ride a Honda Hornet CB 600 until I get the new scrambler next week, it is from the son of my neighbour and it is his first bike, but it is a rocket! Two days ago I travelled through some nice curvy roads and I could not withstand the opportunity of driving fast. So I rode like how they ride on the Isle of Man, my God, what a speed! I remember the days that Ago was riding MV together with Phil Read, but I think this Honda does accelerate much faster than Ago and Phil in 1973! I am 64 now and I prefer the Honda 500 , it is a way to protect myself from very dangerous high speed! I can behave myself very well in traffic, but when there is no one on the road than I cannot withstand the sensational feeling of high speed and fast acceleration. So the Honda Scrambler keeps me in the right speed window so to say. What I also like very much is the sound of the 180 degrees twin, when I ride easy it sound a bit like a single cilinder bike and that is a sound I like very much and give me a very relaxed feeling!

This week I hope I get one, for the green one I had to wait until week 30, so I decided to go for the orange which I can ride next week for sure! Can´t wait for it, my last bike was a Honda CB 500 X. I am curious about fuell consumption, with the 500 X I once managed 2.42 liter/100 km riding on smaller roads for farmers etc. I mostly ride smooth and easy, not fast acceleration and high speed. I like it easy and most the time I try to travel with a speed of about 70 kmh. On these smaller roads it does not feel slow and I can enjoy the landscape. In the near of my town there are some interesting parts where I sometimes drive considerably faster , a bit like Mike Hailwood haha. I like driving fast through the curves, that's my only handicap, I love twisting the bike through the curves! On the other hand I like to drive easy through the city and take care of myself and others, It is a kind of relexed feeling, a kind of Zen!

It’s a city bike. There is so little suspension travel, it will struggle with the pots holed roads in the UK, let alone a decent off-road track. Add to that the cast wheels, definitely a city bike only. It’s such a shame, there is so much potential in the 500 Twin motor borrowed from the CB500X. Just look at what Rally Raid did with the CB500X to turn it into a pocket adventure bike with true off road ability. The CL500, as a stripped down light weight CB500X promised so much, the actual end product is just a long list of disappointments for many. Not least of which is the styling, particularly the sloping shape of the tank which visually challenging. If Ducati, Triumph, Fantic, BSA and even Mash can make a decent fist of styling their Scramblers what went wrong at Honda HQ?.

That is insanely poor service from such a big company, honda parts are hugely expensive now aswell. Sat on one at a bike show but it looks lackluster in real life. Would rather have a leoncino. Honda's are also extremely boring to ride, the scram 411 whilst slower has much more charm and can actually be ridden off road, same with the Ducati scram. It's very disappointing. A single cylinder , lighter, whippier Ft500 remake would have been cooler and taken on others in that class much better. This is only really competing with the yamaha scr950 and other chubsters.
