Thanks so much for this video. This is the cutest block I've seen. I can't wait to make it for my kids and grand kids. I know they'll love it too. Again thanks so much! x
Well I finally made a glass block scarecrow. I have friends who belong to Niner Empire here in Bakersfield, CA so I took the scarecrow one step further and decked it out with San Francisco 49er embellishments so that they could use it in a raffle. I made the scarecrow just like you did but when I got it finished I realized that if the little lights go out there wasn't any way to change the bulbs because the hair and hat were glued on top of the opening. So on my second one I made the opening at the bottom so if the bulbs go out they can open the bottom and change out the lights. Well what happened than is that it rocked back and forth because it wasn't even. I bought some little clear plastic non-skid self stick pads. It worked perfectly. I love this craft.
Sharon Trent Thanks for the tip! I’ve had glass crafts before where I couldn’t change the bulbs and it’s so frustrating! The clear non slip pads are a great idea!
Hi! The scarecrow is so cute! Can you please tell me if I could use Burlap Paper instead? Would the hot glue work to glue the burlap paper to the glass block? Thank you!
Oh how cute he is!!! I was watching you make him, and thought you could of made the hair part attached to the hat, so you could get into the glass block if you needed. TFS
You're right, he's adorable! =) I don't have the supplies needed... but I just might make one, someday... I love scarecrows too. in fact, I'm considering dressing up as one, for Hallowe'en. =)
What did you use at the top where there was a big opening for the lights to go in and at the end of the video before you attached the raffia it looked like there was a glass piece with a plastic piece that the lights were coming thru?
I would warn here that using regular lights on this instead of LED would be VERY dangerous with raffia and a straw hat as they get hot when closed in...LED lights DON'T get hot, if not using LED , this could be a fire hazard!!
awesome diy the glass block scarecrow turn out cute loved it

It was the piece that came with the glass block when i purchased it :)
What a great idea! It's very cute. :)
Suzy Bernier thank you :)
I want one!
how did you secure the lights? It looks like they are inside of something
They are inside the glass block, there is one side of the block that is open :)
So cute
what do those blocks cost? thank you for the tutorial! very cute
You can get them in different sizes, so not sure of all prices. I think this one was around $7. You can get them at Walmart and craft stores. :)
Super schön. :)
i love to go shopping with you leta chad

The lights are in the glass block they do not come in contact with the hat or raffia :)
