Uncertainty is the root of all fear...
Wander across the halls, explore each room and every corner of the house in search of an escape route. Uncertainty will keep you on toes as you explore the creeky and noisy house and each crack, each silent breath from a window and each small event will drag you closer to death.
You are not alone...
Fear is your worst enemy, dark entities are attracted to it. Remain calm and escape terror at all cost, or you will come to realize the distant moanings coming from farther in the house aren't so distant after all.
History is never forgotten...
Many terrible things happened in this house. Brutality and violence stain every room, telling stories of a dark past, unveiling the truth behind the curtain. A truth so disturbing you wish you could join the families that died there years ago, but even death won't help you leave this dreadful place.
The many faces of death...
What would you become if you couldn't even recognize yourself in the mirror? Each death has its visage. How will you face them?

Intensity of this type of horror game need to be built up with sound. P.T. had you on your edge BECAUSE of the sound and it build up intensity as you play on. Sound should be a major part of the development. On the Kickstarter page, it mentions someone working FREE for sound composing? I don't know about that, i would like them to use the money to hire high quality sound producers, someone that knows how to create haunted music. I want to hear haunted music from those of Psycho and Exorcist. Music that got you scare before you even walk around let alone explore the gaming world. Please watch some of those Japanese movies and see how they create sound in their movies. Kojima is a Japanese after all and he knows what sound to use to scare you. I really want this game to succeed.
+reptilexcq2 We do have a music composer, but we do our sounds ourselves at the moment. We are willing to add a sound designer to the team if our campaign succeed, because YES sound is a MUST and it has to be top noch in a horror game. You won't be disapointed ;)
+SadSquare Studio Reptilexcq2 is right about his/her concern, because your game is almost perfect, but sound fx are mmm not enough good, art and visuality are 9/10 but sound fx is 4/10 what I mean is the sound is not enough good for the amazing visual quality that the game has. The sound is like, generic, common, not something unique, standar I don't know how to say it in english, but I hope you understand what I tried to explain. atmosphere, buildup, good scare delivery, while being quiet at that, this is expertly crafted and the right direction for some good horror/guilt tripping. keep it up! one request, despite that one comment, do NOT show us too much of enemies, the unknown of what could be ahead is what keeps up suspense! the players imagination is the developers greatest tool
Does anyone else see the horror movie influences in this one gameplay trailer? Spooky girl=Grudge/Ring, Kid drawings of red doors and black figure=Insidious, Open door to industrial red lit area=Freddy Krueger.
This is pretty impressive for an alpha, graphically it's amazing.
Allison Road got cancelled this day, i hope this game will not cancelled also.

Scratched my headphones by accident creating a loud scraping noise in my left ear while he was following that little girl and I freaked out.

The lighting on this is phenom- really amazing talent. Hopefully whoever worked on the lighting on this game gets some other good gigs after!!!

FINALLY! A game that's actually like a horror movie! And the terrifying sounds that make the game feel more intense and eerie! Sound is THE best horror asset!

if i am not mistaken my brother know one of the guys behind this project so congrats, i am really pumped up for this game.I can't really kickstart it but i will buy it for sure.
I'm stoked. Also, SadSquare Studio, in the scene where the main character wakes up in a tub, please somehow make him more than a floating head. No one's body can fit in a corner of the tub when laying down =]
This is incredibly well done for an Alpha. I hope you guys get some more exposure and crush all those Kickstarter goals!
It looks fantastic guys!!! I can't wait to play it. I love the focus on horror atmosphere, and even the idea of the added puzzles to figure out. Looks awesome!
Great effort! I'm hoping that white noise effect in the end is not going to be in the final game as it just breaks the immersion and consistency of the world in the trailer. If I can have one wish it would be that the creators add something to motivate the player from the beginning to explore the world.. some sort of purpose for walking around and doing things (PT had the talking bag and mind bending information/puzzles and the repeating rooms which motivate the player to find a way out of the situation). Best of luck guys :)
A mixture of PT and Allison Road!
I am very tempted about the offer to let an original piece of music added in. As a composer myself this would be a very fine opportunity indeed. I actually just wrote a piece today inspired by this footage (especially at the end)
SadSquare Studio, you fellows have done a marvelous job here and your presentation is solid, I wish you all the best with your endeavor to make this one of the best horror experience for its release year. Please just one suggestion if you don't mind, don't use any voice acting for dialogue if you're considering it, for something like this it's almost always best to leave voice to the imagination and we work off using texts. But the sound design you have created is amazing, it works perfectly! All the best again to you all! :)
The game looks pretty scary. And if its an incarnation of the P.T. demo, the scary things that happne must be random and unscripted, that its what made P.T. so fantastic. I really thought that there was a ghost trapped inside my Playstation 4 because different things happend and I couldn't recreate the scenarios by will.

This looks really amazing and I'm super excited for it. Definitely going to back it.. I do agree that the audio department needs a little work but I trust you guys will get around to that.

The closet idea was genius!! man if this was only a demo and not part of the actual game, i can honestly say that you guys will be the reason players are gonna buy new pairs of pants lol :)) great job, tbh i`d play it with bugs and all just to get the living shit scared out of me :)) can`t wait for more
The best thing to come out of Konami cancelling Silent Hills is people coming out of the wood work to create stuff like this. There is a horror game resurgence happening, and it's thanks to these people that one of my favorite past times is coming back to my favorite genre. Great job, guys! I wish you nothing but the best!
This may be a bit unfair, but I'd like to mention Layers of Fear, which is another game with similar concept worth checking out.
Dude, absolutely nothing could have happened in this trailer and I still would have been terrified. I'm sitting in my busy office in the middle of the afternoon and I still had to keep pausing the video to regroup.

Great job! It was genuinely eerie experience that had me practically on the edge of my computer seat just watching it. Hollywood horror now days is nothing compared to this.
The closet bit was particularly well done in my opinion. Closets freak me out regardless and hearing the girl breathing in your ear in a small enclosed space with no where to run was genuinely freaky. I can't imagine what it would be like seeing her close in on you with VR. Just... I would die.

These visuals are stunning, great job. This is right up my alley, I like playing alone, and I like trepidation. I've read each game is randomized, and never follows the story quite like the previous, which reminds me of Diablo in that respect. If I were Konami, I'd reconsider past choices...
This looks so promising. Overtones of the great SH and PT. Unsettling music scapes and imagery, coupling it with mundane familiarity. Hinting of the stalkers appearance is a great trick, whilst maintaining that feeling of presence using camera shots and sounds is wonderful.
This would lend itself so perfectly to VR...
Now this is how you hype a product. I hope this comes out with Vive support, just imagining playing it on my Vive makes me both terrified and excited. xD
Improve the sound and you have one of the scariest games I've ever seen. Can't wait for the demo!

I'm really glad horror games are doing the atmospherically haunting first person style of things. PT started this, and after playing Layers of Fear and seeing this, I'm really cheering up for the state of horror games. I only hope it will retain the atmospheric feel and keep the sort of tense, nerve racking feel to it for its horror resorting to a lot of jump scares. Jump Scares are fine...if theres like, 5 of them in the whole game.

I for some reason got reminded of the Rick and Morty episode with Scary Terry during the boiler room scene. But jokes aside, I'm really glad to see something like this coming out. I loved the first person claustrophobic horror style of PT and this looks just as great, if not better. I can't wait to see the finished product
I would happily spend $60 on this game. PT cancellation pissed me off because I loved it so much, and there aren't many games like it. Seeing this game is an incredible refresh and gives me hope that I'll play a game like PT soon. This game looks great and I really hope you guys go through with it! Great work!

Silent hills wasnt going to be just based in a house though. They were going to have you explore a whole town. And become a a part of many peoples dark past that lived there before.

The finial product came out a masterpiece
the end with the elm street like boiler room made this less than scary. in the closet you could hear the ghost girl breathing a couple times before the reaction to, like the third breathing sound. its def inspired by Allison Road & PT. hopefully there'll be parts that will set it apart. don't disappoint, please.
Oh this looks very promising. I'm such a lover of horror games... And have been since back in the days of the original SH and RE. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one as well. (:

I would love to hear industrial music like those Silent Hill in those industrial themed areas. Like percussive metal banging, static, etc...
looks amazing, however if you are really going for the Silent Hills vibe, add more cryptic puzzle elements. This is a GAME after all, bring in the best gameplay. silent hills was amazing because of the huge puzzle hidden within. try and replicate that, and you will have my word I will buy this game and one for my friend.

The thing I really hate about horror games, is they always have these weird creepy paintings in their house. WHO HAS THESE? These paintings do not exist in peoples homes. No they do not. Just make it believable. Put a Thomas Kinkade or something like it somewhere. That's like opening a fridge and seeing a sandwich. No one makes a sandwich and just puts it in the fridge. It's immersion breaking when I have to look at something stupid and aloud say these things.

while i dont mind the painting so much because im used to these types of things happening in video games, i DO agree with you a bit! on the other hand, terrifying dark monsters dont typically appear in peoples homes (for most people :3) and so when you see the painting you know something scary is coming, but yeah if it was more plausible then yeah i think it would have a greater effect

WOAH!! (claps) this is just as intense as Silent hills P.T!!!! Can't believe P.T Silent Hills made a new trend for horror genre!!! AMAZING!!! :D I hope you make it till the release, and not hurt us like The Evil Empire (Konami) did. :(

I actually liked the silence, it contrasts the slamming doors, bumps and other sounds nicely.
Who has three copies of the same painting in their house, though? Also spoopy art on the walls of such a basic bitch house is a bit out of place, maybe make them appear later on in the game, and you could do this thing with some of them, where they are first creepy, but if you turn around, and look at them for the 2nd time, they've changed back to regular ass paintings, or the opposite.
The spoopy lady was quite spoopy, though. I'm looking forward to this one.
Visage should team up with Allison Road.
