      there used to be a "legit" way to play the game since souls games used to require you to roll with good timing in order to avoid most attacks, but elden ring introduced an obnoxious roll delay and input queuing system that was meant to make designing roll catches for enemies easier (since you can't reaction roll things nearly as well as in DS3). also the damage in the late game and DLC is insanely tuned up even as enemies get crazier combos. I remember going to the jar prison in gravesite plains to fight the demihuman swordmaster on scadutree lvl 1 and he kept 2 shotting me with his straight from sekiro triple slash magic sword move that was literally too fast to roll out of. Spent an hour and a half parrying him to death, my only takeaway from that was "I should really be playing sekiro instead"

      @dianheart2243 funny and sad story, I got to consort radahn on NG+7 and got stuck on him for a couple days.

      I got him down to 1 more hit and completely flubbed a dodge roll and ended up getting grabbed a second time....
      i forgot to use Miquellas great rune so I ended up getting my heart stolen and died.😭
      He was so close to death that I could barley see the pixels of his health bar.
      A part of me wishes I summoned mimic so he could have killed him while I was still in my death animation.😅

I literally just steamrolled the early-game with a Zweihander, steamrolled the mid-game with the Greatsword and then finished steamrolling the endgame with the Ruins Greatsword. Exactly, spamming blue shit or bleed weapon art #25 is just a boring and non-interactive way to play. Same with summons/phantoms. People cry about this mentality as "gatekeeping" but its to get people over the mental hurdle of just following IGN guides or "TOP 10 most BROKEN BUILDS!" videos. You feel like you actually played and mastered the game instead of just blindly optimizing following some guide or letting others play half the game for you.

    • @thex6992
      @thex6992 3 месяца назад +1

      @@dislikebutton9571 just keep your build interesting and switch things up, tty out new tactics for areas and bosses. Combine stuff. The npc summons can make some bosses much harder because some of them die very early and then the boss still has twice the health. And beating a hard boss together with your friends is insanely fun imo. You should do one playthrough alone to master it and do whatever you want on the next, because limiting yourself to one weapon/playstyle only will make you miss out so much. I tend to go for dex/faitg a lot but I forced to do a str pyro build this time (6th playthrough of elden ring with a friend who never played it), I usually hate slow weapons so I'm using the iron balls and they're extremely fun, also wanna try the grave scythe and greatspears/heavy rapiers. Don't listen to the people who say you can only play it with a str build. They don't get what these games are about, also They're very simple and also very easy to use mostly. If you wanna do one because it's actually fun to you, go for it, but if you realize that you might wanna try out the other 90% of items the game has to offer do it, these games have so much replay ability because of the infinite ways you can do your own build. Half of the fun comes frok experimenting, summoning your friends and beating a boss together and then celebrating after you made it is also insanely fun, even if you use summons. The game can be extremely frustrating for new players and you shouldn't just give uo because some crazy people wanna force you to play the way they like to

      To build off of what @thex6992 said, you’re really better off doing a dual stat build, like Str/Faith or Str/Int than just a pure Str build. ER is probably the game with the most magic + physical stat weapons in the series. Also, the spells in ER as a whole are way stronger than previous entries, so you’d probably have more fun experimenting with spells and weapons.

      @nono-lz9qr 3 месяца назад

      @@dodokuz9301 That’s wonderful to hear. O Flame may end up being your bread and butter since it’s a very reliable melee spell.
      My advice is to keep leveling vigor. The scaling is weird in ER for some reason, so you won’t get good returns until you hit vigor levels between 30 and 40. Also, take your time and enjoy the game. If you speed run open areas and only focus legacy dungeons, you’ll at times feel underleveled, or that mobs don’t give good returns. Clearing minor dungeons, camps, and doing fields bosses will all help you get levels faster so you can truly get to a more “comfortable” and safe level.
      Also, don’t feel ashamed to use a guide for questlines. Fromsoft games have always had oblique questlines, but that was fine since the games were linear and you’d usually bump into the characters later on just by progressing. With ER, characters may end up in previous areas with no indication that they were going there (ex Alexander).
      With all that said, Happy Hunting!

    I'm just happy that you got to experience the fun that is the guts greatsword strength playthrough! Next time powerstance with a grafted or get someone to give you another guts. You'll find it even easier. That's the funny thing about the 'git gud' crew which I admit to being a part of. In many ways once you learn to stop being scared of being close to bosses this playstyle is actually easier than others.

    This was dope. I did a strength only run for my second (although not with level caps) and came to the same conclusion. First playthrough was a dex/faith build with dual katanas that i had no idea how to build around. Like a chicken without a head. Summons and everything still took 120 hours. Second just did strength with the greatsword and while it was "easier" because of the experience, it was definitely challenging in a fun way. Sweet editing btw, and props for not spamming lions claw lmao (no hate to anyone that does, I abuse that one when i cant take it anymore haha) Thanks for a good watch dude

      @dislikebutton9571 5 месяцев назад

      Right or wrong is the dumb way to put it, some are more fulfilling than others. I feel like people must be intentionally misunderstanding the point it's so obvious. Some play methods are more fulfilling than others since you actually have to learn the enemy move sets playing up close with slower weapons through a trial and error instead of spamming blue stuff from 30ft away or spamming (insert bleed weapon art/jump attack) until health bar is gone. Str/Dex/Quality builds (that dont just stack status effects or stagger) actually have to learn through trial and error. Not over-levelling is also a good thing since it means you are always experiencing a fair challenge instead of just bulldozing through zones that should be hard. It's also more fulfilling to create and play your own janky build instead of following IGN game guides or "TOP 10 MOST BROKEN BUILDS IN ELDEN RING" videos, its more fullfilling to beat bosses solo instead of letting over-levelled phantoms or spirit ashes do everything for you. If you just play super optimally all the time it takes the fun out of the game, and you will feel like you didn't really do much by the end of the game because the truth is... you really didn't do much.

      Heavy dual jump attack or use lions claw to break her poise quickly. When you lower her health enough to where she will use waterfowl attack, keep your distance and use throwing knives or an equivalent to trigger the attack while you’re far enough away to where she’ll miss all her attacks and you’ll only have to dodge maybe one of them.

    The build types are basically the same difficulty IMO. *I don't use buffs like spells and consumables
    Dex: you are nearly one shot with each attack + low poise = killed by most combos. You have to hit bosses multiple times to get the same amount of damage. Staggering is harder but you can proc statuses quicker.
    Strength: slower so you get hit more but you're tankier so it's basically the same. You can stagger bosses easier and get bigger repost damage to make up for the harder stat procs.
    For every pro for one build there's a downside and the pro/cons are reversed for the other build.

    I love the way affinities work in this game, I started out as STR only with heavy infusion and 2 handing until I completed the base game. I got to about level 212 or so using the bow method to farm from the infamous ledge. Despite the guides claiming 131k per minute I never approached that even with lots of practice, RL210ish took me I would guess 4 hours total with my best hour netting about 3.7m runes. Coming back after completing the base game with the Sacred Relic Sword and farming the Ablinaurics I also did not quite hit the claimed runes/m or runes/h but I came much closer and got to level 300 without too much trouble. Anyway, I liked that once I had 80 in STR and DEX I could just switch to Quality and do even more damage. I don't really see a use for Keen, at least not with any weapons I've tried (Greatswords and Colossal Swords) since it always loses to Heavy with the same stat investments and even usually loses to "normal" affinity. You get a nice reward for eventually moving up a secondary stat. Gonna grind to 350 now and call it good, that'll let me have 99/99 (vs 80/80) with the usual stuff that I already have and need (25 MND for FP, 30 END for stamina, 25 faith for Golden Vow and Flame, Grant me Strength, nothing in anything else).
