As a philosophy major never once did any of my professors try to impose their beliefs on their students, despite most of them being Atheist. This movie is actually an insult to Christians. This is such a contrived and immature depiction of higher education. It makes Christians appear as if they have never been to an actual, respectful academic institution. No half-decent professor would act like that, and no well-respected university would tolerate behavior like that from a professor. My "Intro to Philosophy" professor was an Atheist and he made us read the Gospel of Matthew as part of an exposition on what it means to love.
Agreed. This is pandering to those who already have a dim view of higher education, and making a whole lot of assumptions as to what it means to either believe and not believe.
likeriver haha you had to be kidding me .... why you are here making an opinion in something you dont believe? cmon, you are more believers that many others, but you hate so much God that you dont have an idea how to be against Him.
An insult to Christians? Give me a break. I have a Christian guild in WoW. Ive been told to slit my own wrists, death for my family, and for me to burn in hell. All by angry atheists then I never spoke a word to. I just respond to their hate with God loves you. Don't tell us this movie makes us all the sudden look bad because people like you thought we were so bad before that we should all rot. GODS NOT DEAD!
Unfortunately you're only using anecdotal evidence based on just your own experience. Can you speak for every institution in the country? In the world? You can only speak for the institution that you went to, and yeah, great they are respectful but I can bet that not all are like that. I do however know a philosophy professor that is a Christian.
Actually lota of things like this happen whether you realize it or not. At the end of thw movie they had a list of all the debates like that one that was a professor versus a student. And let's just say that was a very long list.
+Miles Bockelman You don't need a straw man to make a mockery out of evolution.... how can incredibly complex creation (our own human bodies for example) NOT have a Creator / Designer ???
Wow, this movie made me change my point of view of the world! I know now that god exists and is inside all of us! I shall repend of my sins, this movie did show me the WAY! Said no atheist ever.
+Nas Maraj Jesus was a real man, there is enough evidence to show that, but he was no profit, just a man who was either delusional or just an out right liar who tricked a lot of people into believing his crazy made up story about an invisible man who lives in the sky...
joshhill212 sorry my english is bad, I'm french so I Can't understand very much, and sometimes when the text is full of negativities or is useless, I dont read or take attention of it lol sozz #prayforparis
***** If you would have watched the movie than you would have seen the part when the boy asked "Do you hate God?" and the professor replies "That is obvious" or something Then the boy asks "Why do you hate God, why, come on, it's a simple question" then the professor screams "BECAUSE HE TOOK EVERYTHING AWAY FROM ME," Then the boy replies "How can you hate something that 'doesn't' exist" Then my school was like "OOOOOOOOHHHHHHH"
I was an athiest my whole life. My life has changed forever after seeing this inspiring movie of an ordinary christian who fought for his beliefs. I am now a jesus believer! I hope all the other athiests out there are affected the same way.
Oh yes, such convincing accurate portrayals of the secular world and hateful atheists. I mean who could possibly argue with such strong watertight arguments and appeals to authority? I use to think that I simply abandoned my faith but know I know I simply backslid and this was the scare sent by god that I needed to come back to Jesus. I mean obviously I will come back to Jesus once I face my own mortality so why wait and risk not having a pop-Christian Band or priest to be there when I face my mortality to urge me to make the right choice? This was in no way biased and was thoroughly researched, I was surprised this wasn't filmed as a true life "found footage" documentary, the parallels to reality are uncanny! *aaaaand scene.* >=D
***** The entire thing was one giant propaganda production cast with nothing but strawman caricatures and ignorance on all topics discussed and loaded with quote minings. Even the name of the movie is a misunderstanding of what Nietzsche meant when he wrote it.
Ok, can someone who's seen this movie explain something to me? Does the professor get in any sort of trouble for forcing his beliefs on his students? 'Cause that's a big no-no even in college. I'm a Christian and I find this idiotic, unless there's something in the movie that they're not showing in the trailer, please to anyone who's seen this movie, please tell me there's more to it then this. Otherwise it just sounds like a film based on a threat that doesn't exist, Atheists (for the most part) aren't gonna try and talk you out of being religious, they've got better things to do.
Atheists and agnostics will try to reason with you at first. If you're not willing to challenge your own indoctrination they'll leave you to your own ignorance
This movie is the biggest evidence that religion is dying off and it's desperate. As always, the only way theists can divert the attention from the real questions that come up in a debate on whether God exists, is by creating a straw man for the atheist character, so that they can win the audience by appealing to their emotions playing the basic "good guy vs bad guy" kind of cliche, instead of having an honest logical discussion. It's sad and pathetic.
Luis Camilo GOD'S NOT DEAD doesn't represent "religion." It is simply one Protestant fundamentalist viewpoint. Not a very convincing one, but a legitimate viewpoint. The movie itself is proof of NOTHING religious, BUT is is proof that movie goers are curious about this kind of movie: it made a profit in its opening week-- $9 million to a $2 million budget. You better believe that got the attention of Hollywood execs. Now, get back to your emotional baggage ignoramus world, I have another movie to see!
William Spencer Man it's so awfully frustrating to see the way you theist guys act when you know that someone is an atheist. You, like this film, blatantly overgeneralize the entire population of atheist people under an overly presupposed stereotype, which simply tells me how little of an opportunity you give us when getting to know us. It's like in your minds, you can't tolerate the idea that it is actually possible for someone to disagree with you. Also, it find it very silly the way you oversimplify the concept of what a human being is, just for making us feel like we need to have a creator that can make sense of us. I mean, it's OK to have names for all those things that we learn with science, so that we can classify them. Categories like chemicals or electric impulses are just our ways to name certain phenomena that we observe in nature; That just doesn't make it any less complex or worthy of admiration, but sure, it is very easy to come up with a lazy minimization of the human complexity, saying that we are all just "bags of chemical and electrical impulses" when clearly that use of derogatory terms when referring to the human components, surely refutes our position.
William Spencer " Your use of the word honest presupposes morality. However, where is the basis for expecting morality from what you view as a bag of electrical and chemical impulses?" What makes you think morality is exclusive to humanity? Morality is an evolutionary survival trait developed to assist in a species being able to coexist and thrive as a pack or group setting, many animals have a sense of morality, albeit a more basic version when compared to humans since they do not possess the level of cognizance that we do. As Luis Camilo stated you are assuming that atheists dont place any value or worth in ourselves. Just because we do not accept an explanation derived from ancient personification of the cosmic forces and events doesn't mean we cannot have morals. Morality is subjective, depending upon the situation, culture, society, environment, or various other factors what one person will view as wrong another may view as right (depending upon the society there will be a general conscientious as to a core set of morals to live by, but they are flexible and vary), or do you believe in absolute morality? If so, please give me one moral that you believe in absolute.
Yes, you are right, but then again, there is the late Chris Hitchens. Have you ever read some of his writings? He took pedantic sarcasm to a new level. He was under the delusion that he could win an argument by having a higher vocabulary than the next guy. He was just as strident as Maher.
+guy tremblay "...when religions have to go to those kind of lengh to battle atheism then it means that they really are stuck against the wall." Kind of like how internet atheists must gather on the internet to air out all their rage because they are intolerant of people who disagree with them. Look up articles on internet atheism, many people, both atheist and religious, are heavily annoyed by people like that. Honestly, if they have resorted to spewing straw man arguments about religion that do not represent religion at all, who is the one stuck against a wall? When you claim religion makes people retarded, or religion is the cause of all wars, or that religion is holding society back without providing evidence (which atheists are supposed to base their way of thinking off of) to back up said statements. Atheists think they have disproven God and are 100% sure He doesn't exist. They say that without examining how illogical it really sounds. How do you disprove God? Most atheists claim that science has disproven Him, but that is an illogical statement. The laws of physics states that we cannot observe anything beyond the boundaries of the universe. God is located outside the boundaries of the universe, so science cannot tell whether He exists or not. Above that, how are you so certain God does not exist? The only way for you to logically determine that is if you know everything about the universe (including the vast knowledge we have yet to learn) and have seen what lies beyond the boundaries of the universe. Since it is a no brainer that no living person possesses such knowledge, he/she cannot logically say "I know God doesn't exist." I used to question why atheists watch videos related to Christianity, or any religion for that matter. Then I discovered what people mean by "troll." Once I discovered the definition, I understood why people like all of you comment on videos like this, and I don't find it a very pleasant reason.
+guy tremblay "since the dawn of religion" , which religion ? "all of those crusades have been made in the name of faith and god and supported by religions ", which god ? You should understand that this is not about religion, it's about God and our relationship with him. We shall neither let anybody fool himself/herself into negating God's existence, nor shall we let them believe that the earth is flat, even if we should give our lives for that. And this movie is a great step towards this goal.
When I was 9 I loved god so much I had jesus merchandise and movies I prayed every night and said "god is love, god is life" my dad would hear me and call me faggot I knew he was just jealous of my devotion to god
Way to go Jayzon! :D ppl who make comments like that u need to just shake it off & keep looking to our Heavenly Father.keep up ur deep Faith :D God bless u dude
people must understand these movies are not perfect, but the objective is to start the conversation somewhere. there are so many people who have questions about god, but dont know where to start asking, or are afraid to ask. I pray that those who are lost and see these kinds of movies open their hearts to god. The kind of relationship we can have with god is worth far more than any human relationship on this earth.
Yeah... to start conversations. With questions like "WHY DO YOU HATE GAWD!" and "YOU KNOW DA TRUF!" Nothing gets a rational conversation going like accusing the opposition of being lying hateful people. Give me a fucking break, this movie is "trying to start a conversation" like how Pol Pot was trying to teach history.
The objective is to start the conversation past the question of "Does god exist?", and straight into loaded questions about the Bible or "God's character". This is why some of us have such a problem with it, as it's yet another example of intellectual dishonesty that it seen so often in Christian books, movies, and the ideology in general.
ddurbin1986 . no maam it dosent. if it hadnt been for god allowing these people to learn to come up with this so called reason, we all would be walking around with no knowledge of anything whatsoever. your argument is not valid.
Because they thought it was just another sucky DTV/MFTV movie like all the rest that they star in. Its quality is pretty much on the same level even though it grossed $60 million at the box office!
Ana Kate Believe, nobody in the world who isn't already convinced in your dogmatic isn't going to be swayed after watching this film. This film's purpose is not to show those who do not believe in god his existence, it's to profit of those who are foolish to think the former is a possibility.
This movie is absolutely unrealistic. No philosophy teacher would open up his class by forcing students to renounce their religion. Christians are not victims. Stop pretending like we're attacking you. Clearly, this movie is an attack on Atheists and that is why Atheists are criticizing it. We haven't come to this video to insult you, we came to this video to defend ourselves.
Really now ? In my first year in university, my lecturer told us that if we were to be professionals in engineering, we need tangibility, and therefore to leave our religious beliefs outside of the classroom. So, no this is quite a realistic situation ! Oh and Atheist's are not attacking Christianity ? Have you even heard of Richard Dawkins ? Hitchens ? Four horsemen ? This movie is to simply show that there is a real reason to believe in a Creator. If anything, this movie is to defend ourselves against the atheist poison. So you don't pretend like YOU'RE a victim !
I am a Christian but I will not be seeing this movie. It makes Atheists out to be the enemy but I think there are a lot of things that I as a Christian can learn from Atheists. I respect Atheists and their beliefs. Also I think it's good for Christians to ask tough questions about the existence of God. To all Atheists: I am sorry for how some Christians have treated you.
Joey Richard I Never want to do this, but I am questioning your faith. This movie does not make atheists to be the enemy, but to show them them, they cannot force Christians to denounce their God. I do believe though that questioning God's existence can be fruitful, if willing to accept Him with open heart. I will never believe in testing God. I am sorry for atheists, and will never try to force my beliefs on them. It is a choice to believe, and all I can do is give testimony.
Reuben Shanmugham Atheist poison. Yes, requiring the rest of the civilized world to back up their ancient superstitious claims with verifiable fact and basic logic is totally poisonous and inherently detrimental to the world. Oh woe is me for asking you to "prove it" when you baselessly claim that not only does god exist, but He is also the specific god you believe in. Pardon *me* for being arrogant in this situation.
@Big booty White girl have a look at Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22 and then how they accurately describe Christ even though they were written 600 years and a thousand years before he walked the earth. Then you've got a decision to make.
This movie trailer is flawed in so many ways. 1. Atheist are portrayed as crazy people 0:13 and all around assholes 1:44 (That gun looks so fake) 2. The teacher throws out the whole concept of Philosophy 101 if he says god is not real in the first 30 seconds of his class without even a debate. The definition of Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems, such as those connected with reality, existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. 0:55 3. 1:41 this has been done so many times in real debates and it always comes down to the believer saying the bible says so and the non-believer saying their is no evidence to support that idea. 4. 1:52 she is a bad person becuase she gives him a ultimatum and forces him to choose between two things he enjoys doing. Extremely cliche 5. 2:30 no, science does not support the existent of god. 6. 2:34 he cannot hate god if he does not believe in god. It probably has more flaws, but I'm getting bored.
If you're a Christian and you've ever engaged in any dialogue regarding Christianity with an atheist you'll find that this film will resonate with your experience in doing that. The atheist ridicule, the mocking and the condescending comments are all represented in this film. You can watch this on Netflix now. I HIGHLY recommend that you ignore the mocking ridicule below and go watch it :) very VERY enlightening.
This is NOT what college is like. This is just something that will put fear in a small number of young people who actually want to educate themselves - as if opening their minds and bettering themselves should conflict with the thought crime that they've been indoctrinated with. Free yourselves. Seriously. Don't be afraid to learn and reject previously held notions for new, better ones. I sincerely hope this movie doesn't shackle more young minds to a small loop of thought processes. Open your mind. Don't close it.
No this is exactly what college is like, and this movie will give people of faith going off to college something to watch to encourage their faith. University is a scary place for Christians and Conservatives because of the things professors want to drill into you. This movie I feel will do it's job and make people strong in their faith and encourage them. That's what is important.
David Scidmore I don't mean this as an insult, but have you gone to college? Professors don't want to "drill" anything into students. They're teachers. They don't have agendas, other than to educate their students. This comment you've just made is exactly the kind of misconception I was talking about; the one certain Christians have who HAVEN'T been to university. I assure you, you're wrong. This is exactly why people shouldn't be afraid to educate themselves.
David Scidmore "University is a scary place for Christians and Conservatives because of the things professors want to drill into you." Like how facts don't require faith and that Christianity isn't a special or unique ideology? I can see how those would be pretty scary prospects to a sheltered Christian.
Audra West No your faith is tested when you learn science and how the world really works besides what a 2000 year old, rewritten over numerous times, book tells you.
I don't understand people hating on God or just doesn't think much about him. What is it there to loose if you believe anyway? If anything, you have a lot to loose if you don't. Believers are not just a group of people who are in a cult. Believing in God is so much more than just going to church and belonging to a certain Christian religion. Because if that is the case, none of us would be wasting our time believing in a god who doesn't love us, and would only treat us like slaves.. That would be a waste of time. For those who don't believe, it's hard to see God.. And for those of us who believe, we can definitely tell that God is not dead because not only do we read His words through the gospel, but we also feel Him. He may not seem like a real thing on earth. But I know, and for those who are reading this, we will all find out how real God is when we die. He will be, has been and is the only real thing there is about our existence. Without Him, none of us would even be here.
+Walter White The atheist in the movie used the same arguments all the atheists use and they fell (fail) apart. The professor knew that they fell apart and that the only explanation could be God (an immaterial, space-timeless, conscience).
+Walter White take a look at ur fingers move them wiggle ur toes speak hearr ur voice its like the wind where it comet angoes spinch urself look from those eyes of urs u dont think there i s a designer how can an intelligent individual not be able to hear or see the w onders of this life but every knee shall bile every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord lov u prayin for ur heart
Easter Tookes It looks like the reason you don't know how eyes and toes and voices work is because you haven't got to high school yet. Am I right? Ostriches only have two toes and they can kill a lion with them or run 40 miles an hour with them. Human toes are poorly designed and pitiful, but they suit ape-like creatures like us. The small mantis shrimp has the most fantastic complicated eyes on the planet and can see in 3D separately from each eye and can see into the ultraviolet range as well as millions more colors than humans. The human eye is poorly designed and pitiful in comparison.. The human voice sounds nice to us only because we are human beings, but again it is poorly designed and not as good as the voices of many other animals who have wider ranges and more power, and greater abilities than pitiful human beings. Our evolved brain structure is what makes humans special. Did you know that the majority of Christians on the planet now accept Evolution because it has evidence from 5 separate branches of Science now? There are only a few backward places like the Bible Belt States that are lagging behind in getting educated. Life is full of wonders yes, and that is not magic no. It's all very normal. I am telling you all this because it sounds like you have failed to make any effort to learn about those wonders. What stopped you?? If you got an education you would be wiser to make better judgements on the things you are talking about and not reason like a ten year old. I assure you I know more about your Bible and its sad History than you do, and I also know how religions indoctrinate uneducated minds like yours to think that having Faith magic invisible gods are real can actually make them real. You are much like a Muslim that way. I do respect your right to have beliefs in your storybook if you want too, but you seem to forget that Christianity is only Faith-based in stories ordinary men wrote just like Islam and Hinduism are, and it is NOT Truth-based backed up with verifiable evidence. You can find the Truth of that in any encyclopedia. If you want to do your duty of 1 Peter 3:15 you will have to use your brain to come up with something better than the Bible is true because it says it's true. There is a lot in it that is completely false, and I know that because I have read it through cover to cover twice which I bet is more than you have done. There's not much point in talking with you until you go to school to learn about the things you are talking about. By the way, you quoted your Bible wrong. Don't say "every knee shall bile." Bile is the green stuff inside your gall bladder and that has nothing to do with knees. I think you really need to study Human Anatomy so you can learn about the parts of your own body. Have fun now. Wishing you Love, Truth and Peace
+Rolf Leseratz I hope that the Lord God comes into your heart opens your eyes to Him. May the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth be with you.
I couldn't help but to just smile watching this. I go through everyday watching people try their damn hardest to hate god. To prove he isn't real and to make if not force others to feel the same way. People do this like its their goal in life. It's funny because there are people who are doing that exact thing in some of these comments. It makes me sick. People filled with hate makes me sick and It makes me sad to see this world turn to such corruption so quickly. God gave us free will and a choice to believe in him. I chose him. I never once regretted that. >>>The only thing is, I can honestly say that even though I don't think what some people are doing with their life is right, I still respect them. I respect them as people and I love them. So why can't non-believers respect me for who I am and what I believe in? *It's okay if you aren't a Christian just stop hating me for being one*
You know what makes atheists so angry? Is purely the truth that Salvation story and Jesus story (Christianity) will always be one of the greatest truths to tell. That's why multimillion dollars movies have been made out of it, not for money, because people believe that amazing rock solid truth, that will live longer than any atheist here. Peace.
Also, most atheists are evolutionists correct? Well evolution tells us that there is life, but I doesn't say how it started... Therefore evolution has been debunked.
***** No my friend, sorry. Jesus story is told because is very real. They´re a lot of evidence that demostrate the existance of Jesus, one of them and very famous: The shroud of Turin. Another proves that suspport the existance of Jesus: The tomb of Caiaphas, Pontius Pilate Inscription, The house of the apostle Peter, The first Gospel and many more. Yeah it might get a lot of money out of those movies, but why do you think that is? Because faith of Christians is growing, Christians numbers are growing, thats why multimillion dollar movies are made. Religion is not Man made, God printed on men the desire of him, many wont be Christians, but some others are Islamic and other representation of God, and is OK. Atheists live on a huge lie, is impossible that watching the greatness of this world, you dont think of something greater that create it. And sorry, media and many others figures out there have tried to make you believe the Religion is going on decline and that Christianity is going down. A LIE a huge huge LIE. Christianity is above ALL religions in procentage of growth and coversions with 1.3% of the world every year. Is the Fastest Growing Religion in the world with 34.3% of the world being part of it. Do your research, is real, I cant post it here, bur search, is not that hard.
Ford2219 "They´re a lot of evidence that demostrate the existance of Jesus, one of them and very famous: The shroud of Turin. Another proves that suspport the existance of Jesus: The tomb of Caiaphas, Pontius Pilate Inscription, The house of the apostle Peter, The first Gospel and many more." What evidence do you have that a) these are authentic, and b) they demonstrate that a man was the son of a god? "Religion is not Man made, God printed on men the desire of him, many wont be Christians, but some others are Islamic and other representation of God, and is OK." I have no desire to believe something without evidence, so what does that make me? What does that make atheists in general? Perhaps rather we're pattern-seeking mammals and give agency to things which don't necessarily have it, and have developed this way in order to survive. "Atheists live on a huge lie, is impossible that watching the greatness of this world, you dont think of something greater that create it." Atheism is a lack of belief in a god, not an assertion that "greatness of this world" could not be created by "something greater". You're using vague language here, as well as constructing a straw man. Besides, if the "greatness" of this world must have been created, doesn't it follow that the "greatness" that created it also had to have been created? "Christianity is above ALL religions in procentage of growth and coversions with 1.3% of the world every year. Is the Fastest Growing Religion in the world with 34.3% of the world being part of it. Do your research, is real, I cant post it here, bur search, is not that hard." Popularity does not determine the truth of a claim.
That, and the fact that it's completely stupid. No professor would act the way that he's depicted to in the movie. It's the usual religious Lying for Jesus.
Well it isn't just a Christian movie that probably will be stupid. The arguments for the existence of a god or gods have been debunked so many times it is ridiculous. It is propaganda that makes a straw man of philosophy classes and basically attempts to make atheists look like assholes.
Eric Dustin We all observe the same evidence. The conclusion we come to varies. Atheists assume that the Big Bang 'singularity' can explode to create everything, from nothing, for no reason, with no cause. Those who believe in God understand that somebody external to the creation must exist to create it. As for the claims that God/gods have been disproven 'so many times' is false. The assumptions in those theories tend to exclude anything that can disprove it. I know. I've researched many.
bendsomemetal Ford my comment wasnt even that hateful, but in this movie they portray atheists like they're the devil, or that they are evil ppl who want to eradicate religion, which is not the case
Wow… I've chosen academia as a career, and I've never heard a professor push atheism onto a student, or insist that everyone beyond Freshman year knows God is dead. A professor would be dismissed from their chair if they did that. You don't have to reject God to pass a philosophy class. As a person involved in academia, I can tell you, all your professors want you to learn how to do is to think critically and to think for yourself. Beyond that, they are concerned with publishing their work and keeping their jobs.
Tell that to Dr. Rice Broocks, who wrote the book this movie is based on. Apparently, his stated reason for writing the book is because he felt secular colleges have an agenda of actively trying to turn Christians into atheists, though I suppose that's probably obvious enough from this trailer.
A lot of people believe that about colleges and universities, precisely because movies like this depict teachers this way. Within my group of colleagues, I know a history professor who practices Islam, a professor of law who is both gay and a devoted, practicing catholic, and a retired colonel who just got done with his month-long lent fast of Popyes chicken (which he apparently loves). So I'm not sure where Dr. Rice was looking, but teachers have a set of ethics they are supposed to uphold. Attacking someone because of their faith (or, failing them because of their faith) goes against those ethics and is actually against the law.
This is the funniest thing I have seen in my entire life. But it took a while for me to realize that this is not satire mockery of the discrimination of atheists and people of other beliefs but a real movie about someone being discriminated by an atheist teacher. First thing everybody should know about atheists is that we don't care what other people believe we just don't share the belief in a god and want to be left out of it.
Yeah thats not true. Atheist did not want to be forced to participate in prayer thats what they proposed. Which are the atheists controlling schools? Most politicians are Christians whom try to force anti-atheist legislation. Atheist are often discriminated against by teachers but an equivalent is very rare.
michael C You people are insane. I used to be very involved in my local church and even volunteered at a monastery in France for a while. But I have never felt the "presence" of God, I made the conclusion by the evidence that was presented to me that the idea of a higher power creating everything is ridicules. But I thank you for your concern in my soul.
michael C you're an idiot. i grew up in the church and heard the whole "there's no such thing as people who don't believe in god, deep down everybody knows, they just actively choose to deny it because they're running" rhetoric. it's very tired and out of touch. it just goes to show you don't know anybody who is a non-christian very intimately...
michael C Also, you are very uneducated about everything, learn where the "X" derived from when abbreviating Christmas and Christian. This is why many, many people feel Christians are generally uneducated...
rhulani Mashila Not to mention dishonest, in the case of this dumpster fire of a film. "God exists because there are things that science cannot explain and my opponent secretly hates him". _eye roll_
TheTrueBlueSonicFan Sure, and then he used arguments that all effectively said "here's something I/we don't have an explanation for, therefore God exists and he did it". It's laughable reasoning.
I believe in Jesus and stuff like that but this movie isn't making the professor look like an atheist it's trying to make him look like an anti-Christ. And atheists don't think god is dead, they just think god does not exist.
Izzy Taylor Anyone who knows what an atheist is should know that. The premise of the movie isn't that God is dead, though. It's that people should be able to decide for themselves whether he exists or not. By the way, since you're an atheist, let me ask you: what is your response to the question, "What caused the universe to come into existence?"?
@Anthony R. Because the Christians of Instagram keep quoting random stupid lines from this movie and keep telling me to watch it because apparently it's what all atheists should watch and it'll magicay change my mind.
Izzy Taylor I thought think one day like you. I didnt believe in God and a lot of the people talking me me about him ... I lost everything I had and what I loved, I speak so ugly to him, everything that happened to me, I blame everything to him ... i said to him, if it was true that you are real, send me a car and take my head off, when the time past. nine months my wife finally returned to me. I almost lost my head ... all the things I've asked the between pray. Him has given me everything I ask. My life change, my family restore. No more fight... everything I have right now is thanks to him.... If you dont like it, block it
I'm a Christian. And I can't prove that God exists I just know that he does exist. And to all those who say that God does not exist the only thing that i can say is one day we will all find out the truth. For we walk by Faith not by sight.
"And I can't prove that God exists I just know that he does exist." Can you name any other thing that you "know" exists, yet cannot prove? Or anything else in which you think faith alone is a proper justification to claim knowledge of?
Mystery singer girl He is existence. We have to make a beginning and an end of everything because our beeing on earth has a beginning and an end, so time is all what we know of. God has always been, and will always be :) amen!
***** Haven't you ever possibly considered the fact, that God could possibly just fix everything himself rather than having our primitive species do it for him? I mean, he/she/it is omnipotent after all.
***** I'm well aware that your question wasn't directed to me, but I would just like to state something. A core tenet of Christianity is free will. If God really did create everything, and free will did not exist, this world would be a perfect utopia, as God would be dictating every event that ever takes place. There would be no problems to fix. However, the God of Christianity is not a dictator. He created the universe and mankind and saw that it was good. He created them with free will because He did not want them to love Him and believe in Him simply because He had programmed them to behave that way. He wanted them to choose Him for themselves. And, the Bible is full of examples of the Israelites, God's own people, not choosing Him and, in fact, choosing other gods over Him. In these situations, God did punish them because they were breaking the first commandment that He ever gave them: "You shall have no other gods before me." (Exodus 20:3). However, He also had mercy because they were His people, and He loved them. He never struck down all of them. He struck down those who had done wrong, but, even so, only in cases of extreme wrongdoing. Coming back to your point, He does not expect us, a primitive species as you correctly labeled us, to fix everything for Him because He doesn't need for us to do that, and He knows that we are incapable of doing that. Evil and the problems of this world are an unfortunate necessity and the price we pay in order that free will might exist. If you analyze all the major problems of this world, you will see that we ourselves are responsible for them. I will admit that natural disasters and the like are not caused by us. However, they are perfectly logical scientific explanations behind them. Regardless of what some people may think, denying all science is not a prerequisite for being a Christian. For example, I am a Christian, and I believe in Creationism, but I also believe that some form of evolution must have taken place over the years, considering the incredible age of the Earth that has been put forth by scientists. After all, no rational person can argue with the existence of fossils. I am able to hold this belief and still maintain by belief in Christ because I don't believe that every second of time has been accounted for in the Bible. I know this was quite long. If you actually read it, thank you for taking the time to do so. I am in no way trying to convert you to Christianity, nor do I hope that you will be won over by my argument. I simply wanted to express my position on the question that you put forth. Have a good day.
Erin L finally someone who gets it. It would at least be nice if they CONSULT their script with atheist debaters such as Matt Dillahunty, for example (whom I'm sure would have loved to be a consultant for free without charge). What's the point of having a mock atheist-vs-Christian debate if the entire debate is clearly written by one side for one side?
SikMisfits Did you even watch the film? The film has characters who are supposed to represent atheists but clearly do not speak nor act what a typical atheist would do. How would you like it if i make a film about Christians, but my characters representing Christianity do not reflect Christian community?
SikMisfits there are plenty of asshole atheists, tons of them. There are plenty of dumb, discriminatory Christians too, but the movie doesn't how them. And how is my logic backward? What did I say that you thought was inaccurate?
Erin L Dude, the problem is that when people make a movie it is to get a moral or point across not to be non biased. Of course it is biased. And your backward logic is being insulted by a God you don't believe exists.
SikMisfits biased I expected, and I get what you're saying in that sense. However, depicting all atheists as hateful people who should convert before they die adds nothing to the message.
My friend had a professor like this, he sure was crazy. At the end of the course he told the class they would all receive B’s no matter how hard they worked for A’s, and those who should’ve gotten lower than a B would still receive a B. He told them, if you want an A, you must trade your grade with someone else and the one who receives an A will get the A while the other would receive a C, C+, or B- if they were lucky.
2:29 - "Science supports his existence" Uhh...I think they are gonna need to provide some references for that one. Why is it so hard to show some proof? That's all I am asking for.
***** Can I suggest to you to read the book 'The Case of Christ' by Lee Strobel? It was written by a man who was an atheist and tried to disprove the bible to his christian wife... but he quickly discovered that logically, when looking at the evidence, the Christian faith was true and so then turned into a Christian himself. It's well worth a read.. for someone who was 'heavily Christian' you may find it interesting.. and may realise just how much evidence is actually right in front of you. :)
Grace Ellero I shouldn't have to prove the Bible is untrue. Others should have to prove that the Bible is true. If I said that I saw a pink and purple unicorn people should expect me to prove something that isn't common rather than have faith that what I said is true even if no one else can verify. For the people that would accept what I say out of faith there is no more need for discussion because they are not thinking rationally.
Lerkero But the bible is such a life changing, radical book. You can't just immediately discount it as untrue. Surely, seeing the bible's implications would make you wan't to find out if it is true.
DropD10 "Quran" is such a life changing, radical book. You can't just immediately discount it as untrue. Surely, seeing the quran's implications would make you want to find out if it is true.
Because loosing my faith might be seen as I loose an important positive thing in my life, and overcoming my faith means that i leave behind something that was harmfull for me and affected my critical thinking skills.
So having faith in Jesus Christ affects your critical thinking skills in a negative way? Maybe that makes sense to you, but it doesn't to me. I'd think that having faith in him would improve my critical thinking skills because I could ask for his help in a situation where I'd need it and he would help me. :)
Well I consider that asking to your imaginary friend for help indeed shows that your critical thinking skills are failing. Don't you ever ask your self if God is listening to you or if it's indeed a fake god, or that the God you're praying is just in your head? Or that the real God isn't the one you worship? If you never stop to reconsider what the evidence support because it could contradict your beliefs, then your critical skills are way flawled and it is because of your faith.
There's so much persecution against us Santa Claus Followers by those damned Easter Bunny Cultists. I want my child to learn the truth! Not that a magical bunny gives them chocolate every April/March!
Yes, God is good. You must have faith and believe in Him. Believe it or not, He made you and living being upon this earth, but mankind He made in His image and in His likeness as it is written. He made the heavens and the earth. It all, and we all come from Him. He loves you.
Antonov BlackString 2 years ago, on July, I was hit by a truck when I rode my bike to the store about to get some food. I got knocked off my bike and blacked out. The only thing I saw when I blacked out was a white light. I couldn't go because I was scared. That was when I heard "now is not your time to leave." That's when I woke up in a hospital bed with my mom and my brother holding my hand. I can still move my legs so that's something I 'm grateful to god about for letting me live.
based on the trailer this is the smuggest piece of shit film to ever be produced. The war on professors is absolutely ridiculous. If a philosophy professor ever gets in front of the class and says "In order to pass my class you have to admit that god does not exist" then he's the shittiest philosophy professor in all of history. This is probably an exaggeration of something that really does happen, where students have to acknowledge that evolution is how all species originated, and this is completely understandable because in many aspects of science if you don't accept evolution than almost nothing makes sense. No professor is going to tell you that god does or doesn't exist. He may share his opinion on the matter, and he may explain why he holds that opinion, but no professor will do what this professor did in the movie.
yo are right but actually this happened to me with philosophy you must to agree with him yes or yes not only on religion, but in every single topic he have his position you couldnt even suggest another perspective... so yes this happen that professors are like this (some of them not every single professor) PD: sorry for my english,, isnt my main language D:
You are so wrong. I'm sure there are many professors that would express their beliefs to a class.. how do I know? Because I've had multiple teachers/professors that have done so. Especially in a college environment students should be mature enough to have multiple opinions and views being expressed in a classroom environment whilst maintaining their own. Evolution is what helps make sense of science?? LOL. No, evolution is science and is the only logical answer with physical evidence to why we're here. Religion is not, and at best is very loosely based on misinterpreted history. It seems more like you just didn't agree with what this movie was trying to express and therefor decided you'd spout some "educated" bullshit on youtube.
I'm 53 years old. In the fall of 1979, first year of college, first day of class, my Western Civ professor: " You can take the narrow-minded, stupid view of Christianity, and tell me that God exists, Jesus loves me, etc. , or you can take my view, that there is no God, there never was a God, and pass my class. Your choice." At which point myself, and about a dozen others got up and walked out. And this was at a major university, not some little community college. So, especially since you admit you haven't seen the movie, don't say this is an exaggeration.....
TheDapperSwindler after the movie during the credits they gave numerous list of similar accounts of court cases on students vs Universities. I was surprised to see so many. I hope this helps. God bless
I am looking forward to watching this movie...and I don't care about what negative things u say about this movie, because guess what! God is real...did u ever think how was this world created?...it of course was not made because of some big bang theory spff...really how do people and animals just all of a sudden come to life...come on God gave u a brain, so use it.
This trailer just shows how ignorant Christians are about atheists.I am a atheist, and I never in my life said I hate God or ever heard a fellow atheist say they hate God.
Curt Flaten He couldn't lose his faith AND be angry at God, that doesn't make any sense. If he is angry at God, he's not an atheist. So what is the movie about?
Tim Newton Okay, the professor's mother died, despite his prayers. This caused the professor to denounce his belief in God out of anger. You are correct in saying that he isn't an atheist technically, but I never said he was either. Just think about the professor's perspective, if he is angry at God, then a solution would be to say there is no God.
I read some of these comments and I can't help but point out that most of the atheists on here are stating that the atheist professor is portrayed as a stereotypical bully. Yet I read their comments on here and 90% of their comments that try to denounce the existence of God are pretty much the same comments made by the stereotypical atheist bully in this movie. Coincidence? I think not.
I can understand that, however do you think that means people who say irreverent things about the god you believe in are also bullying you by saying that?
I don't feel bullied. When people say those things or are disrespectful of my religion, I try my best to just blow it off (though sometimes it is hard I admit)
Even if what you say is true there still is no such thing as a God other than a made up imaginary figure. They aren't real.no matter how anyone acts or doesn't act.
TDI CharlieBrown That's good, so maybe we can agree that there is a difference between what the professor in this movie does and what some people in the comments section are doing. I think most everyone is deserving of respect, but some people (myself included, to be honest) don't feel that the Christian belief itself is deserving of respect.
Much like all religions this movie is nothing but propaganda with no substance. I cannot disprove that which has yet to be proven. The onus is on those who claim god exists to prove he actually does.
I don;t have to prove something that does not exist. As I said previously the onus is on those who make the claim of god to do so. I believe unicorns exist. Now prove me wrong. It is a common misconception to assume Hitler was atheist. In actual fact he was a Catholic and believed he was carrying out god's will. Also the Bible condones slavery, the right to treat wives as property, killing your children if they disrespect you. There are no morals in the bible. *You don't need a god to be good.*
MrRager711 "It goes both ways can u disprove God?" Nope, and I also cannot disprove Bigfoot, fairies, leprechauns, most conspiracy theories, or any other gods either. "Whats the point of a moral conscience if everything means nothing," "Meaning" is a subjective term. There may very well be no "meaning" to the universe, but that does not necessarily mean everything means nothing. Meaning is something one applies to things themselves. "by that logic it was right for Americans to own slaves, Hitler to kill jews, men's right to beat their wives. If this is the only life you believe in then whatever you want is right." You must not be familiar with what morality actually is. "Good or bad only comes into play if u believe in morals, morals are a sign of God. " Morality is a process of the mind. You engage in this process to evaluate the consequences of your actions with respect to others. It is not completely objective, nor is it completely subjective, rather it is situational (although this definition may vary depending on how a person defines these terms). There is no god necessary anywhere in this definition, let alone one no evidence has been provided for.
...Obviously you only know the Old Testament. In the New Testament they believed in SERVANTS. Those are not slaves. Slaves are ones you treat like crap, and refuse help and food for them. Servants are treated like friends. While I respect your beliefs I just wanted to share my knowledge on the 'slavery' in the bible.
I swear this movie touches me so bad! I've watched it so many times and everytime i watch it it's like the first time! My God's not dead, He's surely alive!!!!!
Funny how all these people come hate on God, If you don't believe on him thats your business, but if someone believes in him it's their business not yours, so do us a favor and don't insult our God thinking your a funny troll.Unless of you wanna start a useless argument over the internet with people you don't know.
+Raptor Jesus What I mean't was Beliefs not what people that have those beliefs do, People shouldn't be insulting other people and their beliefs. That is what I meant.
It becomes our business when all the various iterations of this so called God are responsible for almost every war on this planet. It becomes a humanitarian crisis.
Starlight Shine i guess you slept through most of the last decade then... or maybe i should have talked about how women are beaten bloody for showing their ankles in public or disrespecting their husband, or how atheism is seen as a crime worthy of death. its far too easy to point at the horrendously immoral practices of islam because there are so many of them.
you think you have the right to tell people what is acceptable to criticize in a democratic country? go take your oppressive theocratic bullshit back to the Dark Ages nutbag, don't let the door hit you on the way out
***** I hate to tell you this, but we can see his brain. We can physically take it out of his head and hold it. We can even see yours, whether you choose to use it or not...
***** During daytime, look up. There's something blue above you. That's air. Ever felt the wind? That's air. Ever talked to anyone? That's air carrying the sound. Ever had a balloon? That's air inside. Ever smelt something? That's molecules floating in air. You cannot see, hear, touch, smell, taste or measure god or anything that indicates he/she/it exists by any means, though.
To everyone whose reading this, I just want you to know that God loves you. Whether you consider yourself an atheist, a skeptic, or an agnostic, God loves you so much. For you He might be dead but in our hearts, He will always be alive. You don't deserve to be feeling that hatred, bitterness in your hearts. You just need to know that God give us trials because He wants to shape you and eliminate things that should no longer be part of our lives. The problem with us humans is that we tend to pursue our own will, plans and dreams and if all these things don't happen, we will tend to drift to away from God. But why can't you see that the fact that you are here in this world someone has created you. You are not something that pops up out instantly without a maker, a Creator because even that something is made by God. Why can't you see that the fact that you breathe, Someone up there is giving you oxygen to live. No one can make oxygen, only the plants He made, but even those plants are made by God. Can you tell me why there is Earth? Why has God made us all? Can you tell me the beginning and the end? Can you see it? Not! Because you have been blinded by the bitterness inside your hearts. You have chosen to pave your own paths, not even seeing that someone died for you 2,000 years ago. If all these things, this life is just pure random experiment for you then God should not have made us all after all. He could just have been living alone. But, why can't you see that the reason that He made us all is because He wants someone to be with Him; even exceedingly great amount of people to be with Him; because that's who God is. He cannot do anything apart from loving us. God will come again and gather everyone who accepted Him, I am telling you He will COME AGAIN. He came down for you 2,000 years ago, and He gave you the chance to accept Him. Why is it too hard for you to see this? :'( My heart is really breaking right now seeing you all in pain. You don't deserve to feel this way. You have a GOD, a FATHER up there who loves you so much. Come to Jesus once again, and accept Him in your life. He loves you too much to let you go, He will never let you go. He won't even convict me to write this long message for you if He wants to let you go. He is pursuing you, giving you the chance again to come home to Him. Please come back. It is never too late. There is always hope for you. Please, please do come back. He wants to be with you in Heaven. God bless you all and I love you all my brothers and sisters. You don't deserve to be feeling that way. Please let go of all those disbelief.
Emilyn Wood All love is perfect - love of creations of fantasy, love of the people you can hold and touch. The question is, which one can change your physical world whether you ask them to or not?
Question to Atheists. Big bang is essentially an explosion, and as science will tell you, an explosion does not "create" anything, it essentially just sends debris into different directions. It doesn't tell us anything about how "matter itself, atoms, the needed materials and laws of physics needed to initiate an explosion to begin with" It doesn't explain where any of that came from nor how any of that came into existence to begin with, not to mention things like "gravitational fields, things like "hot" "cold", oxygen, solar energy, etc" The things needed to create life in the first place, none of these things are tackled or explained how they came into existence either. Even natural selection itself is an implication that our universe is making decisions based on the best appropriate path for a life form, denoting intelligence, but scientifically, our universe possesses no intelligence, awareness, or the ability to weight out the pros and cons and make an educated choice of any kind. Nor "problem solve". Even in science, nothing can invent itself, nor is there any sign a dead, lifeless, universe, has any sort of mentality to invent anything, so are we supposed to believe these things just popped into existence magically?
David Goldberg "Back then, scientists knew to agree with Einstein" Sources? Because I tend to doubt that is true,or entirely true. Science is not dogmatic, and no one is meant to be taken at their word simply for their reputation. As I understand it, the steady state and Big Bang theory were in competition, but it wasn't until CMB was observed that one of them was confirmed over the other. "The priest said "the universe coming into existence in a trillionth of a trillionth of a second is exactly how I would expect it to happen if God had said "let there be light'". " So since he was correct about the Big Bang, that means he's also correct about a god?
anonynaw My friend. Science is wrong ALL the time. You have to remember at one time everyone on earth thought the world was flat....that you could simply..fall off. That was the science then. It WAS wrong. Science once said Mt.Everest was the tallest mountain in the world. That was proven wrong. EVERYTHING in science is always going to be wrong no matter how sure you are you will be proven wrong. Now god wasn't created from science that's indeed why no one has been able to say that he doesn't exist for a 100% fact. Can you say. In your head that when you die. There will be no God? I really think atheists are actually scared to believe. Because if they do believe they know there is a set or rules to follow by and they're scared of what happens if you break those rules and they wouldn't know exactly how to deal with it. I think deep inside every atheist does believe. I mean come on guys.
Not a bad movie. No movie can explain faith. This movie was showing someone's life and a situation they went through. It takes something to happen in each person's life to believe when they are non believers. We are human, if it didn't happen to us....we tend not to believe it didn't happen at all.
For all of those saying that this movie's premises is unrealistic (Write 'God is dead' on a piece of paper or I'll fail your freshman asses) - I humbly beg to differ. What this film is doing in turning the atheistic undertones of the post-secondary system into overtones in order to shed light on an issue that is so quietly tolerated and easily glazed over because it is so subtle. I went through most of university in a pissed off haze and couldn't figure out why until later. It was because I was being alienated in the most passive-aggressive, understated ways possible. I could FEEL how quickly I would be struck down by those around me, including professors, if I dared to stand up and poke a hole in the veil of wish-washy, all-assuming secular 'sameness' that curtained the majority of my classes (I was in the arts, by the way. Aka one of the most 'liberal' minded fields of study there is, apparently.) It wasn't always what professors said-though I DID have one prof who made us buy a course pack that was 80% his opinion and 20% hand-picked historical fact bent to his arguments; no, I am NOT exaggerating-but what they didn't say, the course materials they chose or didn't choose, the directions in which they led discussions, which student opinions they praised and which ones they barely addressed, etc. University claims to be a place of free-thinking and dialogue, but I dare you to speak up as a Christian feminist in a Women's Studies class discussion. I usually didn't mention God or Jesus-I find that as soon as you do, in those classes, everyone's brains shut down and the claws come out. So, instead, I attempted to come from a more socially 'neutral'/ 'rational' / 'scientific' avenue while still expressing the same ethical/moral views-but even if you don't mention God directly, it's still like asking to be open-fired on. I couldn't stand it. It got so bad that I dropped two Women's Studies classes and ended up finally taking the third one online. This enabled me to voice my perspective without getting cut off...and to swear loudly at the screen at some of the more ignorant responses I'd get-and, as an added bonus, I could do it all from the comfort of home :) Point is though, I shouldn't have had to do that. No one should ever have to go into a class-especially a class like that where it's ALL theory, philosophy and discussion-and have to worry about getting verbally impaled. University (and the professors operating at the core of it) seems to forget that it is a PUBLIC institution, not an ATHEIST institution. ALL opinions-whether Christian, agnostic, Muslim, atheist, Hindu, Jewish, whathaveyou-are to be treated equally, with dignity and respect. I truly hope this film will help us all to promote and protect that ideal.
Thank you for sharing your story. It's hard to comment on the specifics of your dispute with classmates and professors without knowing theirs or your position in the debate. I have to ask you though, does really *every* opinion deserve to be treated with respect? Holocaust deniers? People who claim Elvis is alive? Creationists? Flat earth society? Shouldn't we ridicule beliefs that are unfounded? Giving them the air of respect might be dangerous as gullible people might believe these ideas hold som merit. Just my two cents.
Thanks! Unfortunately, that is what free speech and true tolerance actually means: allowing everyone to voice an opinion, even if you don't like it. It's not your job, or mine, or any one else's--including profs--to decide what is valid or worthy of respect. If we start doing that, we're not really all for 'free speech', are we? We're censoring. We're being 'narrow-minded'. Free-speech is a double edged sword that way. It can work in our favour or against it. Either speech is free or it's not. There shouldn't be certain individuals or factions picking out opinions like topics out of a hat and then throwing out the rest. Who gives them the right? You might say creationism is nothing but a dinosaur's wet dream. I might say it's cold, hard fact. We both have our reasons and our arguments and we can shout them at each other until we're blue in the face. Either way, our voices should be heard. Both of them. It's not up to the prof to pick one over the other. Discussion is discussion and as far as I'm concerned, especially in the classroom setting, anything goes so long as you can/are willing to back it up.
Shelly Roosevelt It's kinda happening now: ShadeVlog is talking about her experience, and FatalCroissant begin using strawman and well-poisoning tactics to essentially say "well, go ahead and talk all you like... we'll still think your opinion is not worthy of respect. We still will not listen to you, and giving you respect is dangerous. Shouldn't we be ridiculing you now?" Only a person with AS will not see the very clear message: "Shut up. I wish you just keep quiet." As for the unrealistic professor in this movie: it's a movie. Movies are usually modified for dramatic license. It's what happens. "Realistic" sword fights don't look like "real" sword fights. Nobody would normally fake an orgasm in the middle of a crowded cafe, and anyone who got beat up like Bond won't have the strength to keep running. In this case, what happens in a much more subtle way is presented in a fashion that can be fit within 2 hours. That was ShadeVlog's point.
ShadeVlog I'm not saying that people with controversial opinions shouldn't be allowed to voice them. All I'm saying is that they shouldn't necessarily be treated with respect. If you think free speech guarantees that your statements will be met with respect or that it exempts you from reprisal, you are sorely mistaken. Hal Guerrero What are you talking about? What strawman? For whose position? Of course I, personally, don't think that every opinion is worth defending but people's right to voice them certainly is. Unrealistic sword-fighting would be a problem in a movie that claims to depict it realistically or that's trying to make a statement on real-life swordfighting. That's the flaw in your analogy. This movie (judging from the trailers and comments of the makers) wants to talk about religion vs. atheism in a realistic setting. The entire plot is a setup for a debate. It's trying to get a message across but is willing to be disingenuous to make its point.
I can't wait 2 see this movie!! This is going to be great! I love movies like this. Every christian should go and support it, so Hollywood knows we're not going anywhere.
why should a christian go see it? Kinda like preaching to the choir? Or advertising for newsboys. As a christian I am sad on so many levels that movies like these are made.. talk about putting people off!
Liana Mack Isn't Christ supposed to be, like, "God on Earth" or something? Doesn't that imply omnipotence? Why would he *ever* need anyone to stand up for him? A God who requires human protection or support doesn't doesn't seem like much of a god to me. Just sayin.
Got to that point in my night where I watch bullshit movies just so I have something to do. 1. The professor would not be allowed to force his beliefs on his students. 2. An atheist can be a genuine atheist rather than someone angry at God. 3. Why is a Christian taking philosophy if he cannot at least entertain the idea that God might not exist or at least might be flawed?
I wrote a zombie book where the zombie is the main character and he's the good guy. But my editor called me today and said that the book already existed, it's called The Bible. I don't blame her though, I can't compete with the book that is in every single hotel drawer.
Personally I am an atheist but why all the hate damn. Religion may not always be right but it helps some people from there own problems. At the same time stop shoving religion down our throats.
I agree they need to stop shoving it down peoples throats... but the whole "I have a problem so lets look to God" Shit needs to stop... what ever happened to looking into yourself nd making a promise to yourself to change? You help yourself through problems... it's never God... it's always you... people need to stop looking for help with themselves through God nd get professional help or fix it themselves... there is no need for God... ever....
See you can't say that just like you don't like it they don't as well your shoving atheism down their throats and you cannot disprove god with science just like god can't disprove science with god its like trying to explain colors to a blind person
Religion can help people with their problems, but it can also hurt them, and make them feel horrible for things that are completely natural and healthy (eg masturbation). There's alternatives to having a religion to help you through some crisis, like being around friends and family, or another loving environment. So in my opinion, sure, religion can be a helpful tool for some people, but in the big picture, it's more harmful than helpful, but I totally get your point of view Devon Gomes
Just to make it clear what I am saying DONT claim to be all that you have all the answers without taking a step back to see their perspective. No matter where you fall, god or the lack of one. People have constitutional right to believe or not to. No one has all the answers, a lair will tell one otherwise.
I think the fact that this movie exists is quite telling...Creatards are starting to realise science isn't on their side, so they resort to fiction instead.
this was so hilarious,... well at least until I realized it actually exists, and is not a parody... I mean no offense to christians, if I were a christian, I would be offended by this film as well.
It's a symbolic phrase that's actually about Western civilization's widespread belief/disbelief, coined by Nietzsche in the 1800s, predicting that that time period was the beginning of the end of Christianity's cultural domination.
Sielle Neal I thought he died on the cross. Oh wait he sacrificed himself for our sins only to resurrect himself later so I guess what I'm saying is that it isn't much of a sacrifice to die for our sins if you are immortal
William Uptgraft That's kind of a silly path to go down, man. That kind of comment just makes us atheists look disrespectful and ignorant. For one thing, Jesus =/= God, exactly. While Jesus does die in the Bible (as you trivially point out), God does not, as I'm sure you know. And as the Bible tells it, it IS a big sacrifice, because Jesus is, although divine, also a human, and experiences things as a human. He's afraid of suffering and dying - he spends the entire night before it happens praying that there will be some way it WON'T have to happen -, but he does it anyway, and it's a long, terrible, painful, humiliating, disheartening dragged out process that brings him low enough to, in one account, shout to the sky, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?" As a story, it's pretty powerful. But, of course, it's just a story, and one that has a lot in common with many of mankind's oldest and most powerful stories.
Not necessarily... there is lots of information online regarding the world and its aspects on a scientific, historical basis that can be said to be substantial support for the existence of God and the disproof of other secular theories (e.g. The Big Bang). For example: Planets should rotate away from each other as caused from the bang naturally, but do not to the surprise of many scientists. However; there is limited, physical evidence for God on earth for non-believers because the way most Christians see the evidence for God is not the same for how Atheists perceive that evidence, using it instead to support their contrasting beliefs. So I guess at the end of the day, all of our biased views affect how we interpret science and what it really proves. We can't all agree that science proves or disproves God. (I apologize it I just bombarded you with to much info he he.)
***** You know those planets didn't form right away after the big bang... And a whole era of stars have already exploded...So the only people who interrupt it wrong are the ones who don't get their science from scientists but creationists pretended to do science.
Shrap Nelface Yeah you seem to know your facts better, I'm really bad when it comes to science! But then again, we can't say that it's a definite fact that the planets didn't form right away because it's dependent on your belief in the theory or in God.
+Fer Visser Did David and Goliath have to show aggression toward's each other? Yes-because God authorized it guy. When God wants someone who's out of control out of the picture..He gives the means. Think about the present times. The news reports of the wars lately.
Wow, I like how he looked in the Bible in order to prove that God exists. I can't wit to see what scientific proof he's got to prove that God is real. I can't wait to see this movie; I was looking for a good comedy.
I'm guessing the producers of this movie didn't see the Bill Nye v. Ken Ham debate. I haven't seen this movie, but let me break down what's going to happen. - Christian kid goes to college. - In a defiant stance, he enrolls in the one professors class that is going to challenge his faith. - Professor is an atheist and gives all his student's an ultimatum. Say there's no god or prove that there isn't. Fail to prove your case and you fail. - Professor is an atheist because he probably lost his child or wife and "god wasn't there" (sad I know) - This "battle" between him and the professor starts affecting his personal life i.e. girlfriend, friends, health, etc. But he sees this as a challenge that god has placed before him. - At the end of the movie, the kid changes the heart of the professor, making him believe in god once again. (awww) Blah... Blah... Blah...
***** Excellent point but do you really think any of the idiots making these propaganda films have ever met a philosophy professor or even possess common sense? You give them more credit than I do.
you can't prove that the speghetti monster isn't real, so he most be, right? you can't disprove that the speghetti monster ate god and now has all his powers, so he must have, right? your argument is backwards and convoluted
***** If I had a nickle for everyone who thought that that was a South Park reference, I'd have a nickle. Of course, what Bryan doesn't realize is that he's headed to the manure pile to have his kneecaps nibbled on forever by dwarves because he rejects the Invisible Pink Unicorn (May Her Hooves Never Be Shod) in favor of his starchy demon. As for thinking for yourself, I bet you don't, and simply believe ancient writings by people who were ignorant of the world and invented a god to explain what they couldn't.
Bryan Bugallo you can simply disapprove Spephetti monster just by saying i dont believe but to disapproving the God you have to explain the creation of God... from where this has came from...You seems to be a rational person therefore dont tell me by chance because such a complicated and intelligently designed life and DNA structure speaking very loud its not by chance.. an other way dont try to tell us science has already explained for example sperm structure is this and how is works be remember science is saying how it works not from where it came from..
So do you believe that man created Earth? The sky? The land? Animals? The sun? The moon? Morning? Afternoon? Evening? Night? Who do you think made the human body? Who do you think keeps you safe in the hospital rooms, it's not the doctors. It's God. God is an amazing God, I'm talking about my Heavenly Father, who I'm so thankful to know. The one who sent his only son to the cross were he died for our sins, and came back to life 3 days later, the one who puts food on our plates, the one who puts clothes on our back. The one who protects us during danger. He is the only one who we can put 100% faith in and he won't leave us or forsake us. I hoped this changed your opinion on God, and may God keep you in his care!
Atheists, shrekists, pokemonists, new age, Spagetthi monsters Buddhists, Scientologists, Satanists, and thousands of occultists and shamans do not believe in God. Who is right? In my opinion every 7 billion people (Muslims Buddhists, atheists, Hindus etc.). Lives only in the subjective truth I'm Very Proud Christian. I am proud on christian ancestors, culture and history. In Christians circulating blood royal and christians are knights and defenders western identity and values. cross is a symbol royal and also symbol helping others. I am proud christian because most , scientists, artists pacifists, writers of the world are also Christians, Kepler, Maxwell, Faraday, Newton, Planck, Tesla, Volta, Pasteur, Mendel, Lemeitre, Copernicus, the Wright brothers, Fleming etc. .. .... Warhol, Michelangelo, Vincent van Gogh Gaudi etc .... Jesus Christ, MLK, Nelson Mandela, William Wilberforce, David Livingston, Robert Schuman father Eu Union, Leo Tolstoy, Albert Schweitzer etc .... Julius Verne, Tolkien, CS Lewis , Dumas, Dovstojevsky. etc ... But well, also atheistic belief in nothing is a belief. Christians do not believe in man on the cloud, but That in the beginning was the Word = consciousness, sense = god. At the beginning sense, because from nonsense can not arise sense or the world is nonsense? in my opinion, is the capital and the true meaning of Christian faith in Love your God with all your heart mind and soul and your neighbor as yourself. Open your heart, mind and soul That is the true meaning of human existence. True love is when you sacrifice for other people. sorry im not good english.
This looks like an awesome movie. GOD is making Himself real in so many venues these days. He is so merciful, He wants all who will come to come. I love you JESUS.
And will torture everyone who refuses to come! How loving! I also love the idea of him torturing for eternity anyone I disagree with. I bet a few thousand years of burning alive will teach those Atheists how merciful and loving Jesus is.
***** You are assuming a god to exist in the premise of your question. Instead of putting yourself in the shoes of a skeptic, you're thinking from just your own side. The question to an atheist is generally not "do I accept or reject this god?", it's "do I have a reason to believe the claims of this particular religion?". What you call "rejecting god" is no different than me rejecting every other god, and for the same exact reason: lack of sufficient evidence. By not believing these claims to be true I'm making no statement of rebellion, or any declaration that I would like to suffer eternally. If this god presumes that those who don't believe in or worship him choose that, that's the furthest thing from a loving parent that many believers seem to think it is.
***** "Would you force your 18 year old teenager, who hated you and couldn't stand you to come live in your house?" - I wouldn't torture them though! And if I did threaten them with torture, I wouldn't expect them to hate me and not stand me.
***** Even if I reject God etc, that doesn't mean that I've chosen to be tortured. If I tell you to worship me and you don't and then I torture you as a result, does that mean that you've chosen to be tortured? You are ridiculously evil to think that torturing people just for their beliefs is okay.
Looks like a decent comedy! A little exaggerated like the Scary Movie series, but for a night when I'm looking for some light silly comedy, it should be good :)
Shelly Roosevelt Great hollywood movies can make you believe the impossible possible. Typical Christian movies make you realize how impossible the impossible is.
Well, the thing is the movie does not really show that Christians are the most perfect and flawless people walking on earth but you see that there are some cast in the movie that shows that Christians really are not perfect but it is in the faith and how you believe in how God works in different aspects of life (for Christians). For you guys, it doesn't matter what you say or think about the movie- it just shows that God works in mysterious ways and that's how we believe it and the movie shows practical true to life stories. Just come to think of it, please. Peace be with you!
Caryl Vim Cerna Yep. When the atheists come into the room dramatic, evil music plays. When the clean cut christan comes into the room, happy cheery guitar music plays. Atheists can be nice people too. You christans just think we want to destroy God and whatnot.
Really? For the sake of those music playing you're offended? Hmm. Don't put the blame on us Christians, I did not even say that you guys are evil. What do we have here? I respect your belief and I cannot do anything about that. Are you lost here? I can find you a map. I'm pretty sure that you're not the professor in the movie or anyone else in the movie, right? Stop making it as a big deal. Please put a bridge and get over it. :) God bless you!
I think it's funny how people think that one person in the whole movie represents a whole group. That the teacher in the movie is an atheist who hates God does not immediately imply that all atheists hate God. That the student is feeling opressed and offended by the teacher does not mean all Christians are that way... It is a damn movie.. Saying that those people represents the whole group is like saying that if an Asian in a movie is a nerd and a hacker, all Asians are hackers... I think it's unreasonable (from both parties involved in this completely useless argument) to just make assumations and statements based on just one person from a movie...
Those who claim that there is no God are, in all truthfulness, admitting to being intellectually lazy. See, when you honestly look at the mountains of evidence for the existence of God - specifically the God who authored the bible - you will eventually discover that it takes far more faith to believe in the religion of atheism than it does to be a Christian.
Numbers 14:11 The LORD said to Moses, "How long will this people spurn Me? And how long will they not believe in Me, despite all the signs which I have performed in their midst?
+Antonov BlackString These stories are written a veeery long time ago. Also the science uses, for the calculation of how long the earth exist, information from a very long time ago they use the carbon, but the science can't prove that it is true. They expect that, but now, it is proven that the carbon theory just not good.
+Frederick Lourens oh shit. a book that can lie vs carbon dating, you said carbon dating could be wrong. wow, you are thick. I have said this far too many times, you can't rely on the complete honesty of the bible as no evidence has ever been found. AND carbon-dating has been proven to work over and over again. they test it on new stuff, old stuff, and really old stuff. The number of witnesses that use carbon dating is in the hundreds compared to the 0 witnesses that can say the bible is telling the truth
Sarfaraz Hussein Ok lets go back a little further, big bang era (assuming thats how we got here.) They say that a particle imploded and bam, the universe. I am fine with that except, how did that particle get there? Was it always there infinitely? Do you have a theory?
Brian Farnsworth There are several theories out there, but the Big Bang, as with Evolution, does not seek to explain the Origin of things, rather the process once it began that brought forth the diversity you see today. And its more of an explosion rather than implosion, and when you take into account that most of matter is comprised of "empty space," its not inconceivable to imagine that if you remove all that space you could shrink it down to a tiny point, however it is much more complex then that (matter, anti-mater, and many other processes and elements). I would suggest "A universe from nothing" by Lawrence Krauss for some interesting theories into the subject matter. That being said it is still currently an unknown, however replacing one unknown with another (deities) for convenience and warm fuzzies isn't really what I would consider an answer.
I watched this movie to fulfill my own curiosity and... It truly seemed like the wet fantasy of a christian young adult in which he stood up by himself to change the faith of a grumpy old atheist. I'll try not to spoil the movie for anybody but the entire plot revolves around the persisting bullying from atheists to Christians in which the goal is to force their beliefs down this young man's throat.(isn't it the other way around in real life?). If you are a Christian (this movie is obviously targeted towards you), I can see how you will appeal to this film and find it to be a cute story of self belief and perseverance, maybe after watching this you will increase your own faith but most importantly, for the sake of the entire world and yourselves, also teach you about tolerance since this movie (almost hypocritical) does not tell tales about Christians discriminating homosexual or persistently trying to convert others into Christianity. Live and let be, that's the message I got from this movie (and it's a stretch).
I don't consider myself religious, but I'm not an atheist. I can't define myself to someone else's beliefs and find that there are much more important things in life to argue about. That being said I do feel like you like to fill people into stereotypes and groups and that is your main problem. You don't see people you see people as groups and not as individuals. You should work on that.
and didn't you who just saw it to fulfill your own curiosity just do what your saying we do? Here you are on a Christians page filling us up with your opinion and trying to force your own lack of belief on us? Why? Why bother with coming here or going to see something you are set to hate and not agree with? Then people like you tell us we are forcing this down your throat? what a stinking joke that is, and all of you do not even see the redundancy of your own actions. Then you all come and act like us Christians were the instigators when it is you who are here to incite arguments you began this thing no one made you do anything and we certainly are not forcing our beliefs down your throat. you all say your all so intelligent then you do asinine things like this go see a movie your going to hate and ridicule, just so you can come and make fun of people and their beliefs when you clearly do not understand anything you even saw. That's all good though at least you saw something as you stand before the so called fake God, and are trembling because hell is your final destination, you will remember everything you ever said against him and well too late sorry ticket punched one way straight to hell for you, when you could have avoided it instead of your vain shallow incomprehensible beliefs that this all happened by one happy accident one day nothing hit nothing and turned into everything!! Coincidentally every argument presented in this movie is actual, and has been going on for only about not even 300 years. And of all people to accept the Lord on their death bed, yeah there is a whole book about the inventor of the theory of evolution, Darwin, reading his bible day and night and repenting of his disbelief.
I nearly got a headache watching this trailer. Pretty sad that religion has to go to such lengths to grasp on to their followers who are dwindling. This actually happened to me when I had my philosophy class. I challenged myself to prove the existence of god. But the only difference is that I was intellectually honest and accepted my failure of doing so. Since then I've lived a very similar life I had since before I became atheist and dare I say even better! Sure I may have lost god. But all in all I lost something that was never there in the first place. Much like the one million dollars I never had in the bank that got stolen. I have so many things to pick against this trailer. 1. Atheism is the neutral position of not believe in the claims of Gods. Everyone holds this position before believing the antithesis of religion. It's religion that needs to prove it's validity. Not the other way around. 2. One cannot hate god or think god is dead if he believes he doesn't exist. 3. Science does not support god. If it did then there would be no question that a god exists. Just like there is no question that gravity exists. 4. This movie paints such a bad picture of what true critical thinking is. It is a wonderful art that unfortunately so few succeed in practicing it. And much of the reason is because of religion and how it collapses upon itself when you apply it's logic.
Waited a whole year for an answer. 4 years later... I'm still waiting. I'm honesty and willing to change my mind of quantifiable and verifiable evidence presents itself
Not only is the professor a blatant straw man, what he's doing is flat out illegal and would get his ass fired in an ordinary college.
+Miles Bockelman Have you seen Whiplash?
+Kurt Sudheim The professor got sacked in whiplash...
there are many cases like this one that actually happened.
***** I know, that's what Miles said
+Miles Bockelman You don't need a straw man to make a mockery out of evolution.... how can incredibly complex creation (our own human bodies for example) NOT have a Creator / Designer ???
Wow, this movie made me change my point of view of the world! I know now that god exists and is inside all of us! I shall repend of my sins, this movie did show me the WAY!
Said no atheist ever.
what's the goal of your speech? is that really what your life is made for? find jesus find peace brother.
+ruma triolet
That this movie is pure propaganada and can't do anything better to present than strawmen.
+Nas Maraj Jesus was a real man, there is enough evidence to show that, but he was no profit, just a man who was either delusional or just an out right liar who tricked a lot of people into believing his crazy made up story about an invisible man who lives in the sky...
+Riksy gr8 b8 m8
joshhill212 sorry my english is bad, I'm french so I Can't understand very much, and sometimes when the text is full of negativities or is useless, I dont read or take attention of it lol sozz
#prayforparis
That professor is not atheist. He is a hypocrite. You can't have a personal hate on something you don't believe in. Gosh, this movie is laughable.
***** If you would have watched the movie than you would have seen the part when the boy asked
"Do you hate God?"
and the professor replies
"That is obvious" or something
Then the boy asks
"Why do you hate God, why, come on, it's a simple question"
then the professor screams
"BECAUSE HE TOOK EVERYTHING AWAY FROM ME,"
Then the boy replies
"How can you hate something that 'doesn't' exist"
Then my school was like "OOOOOOOOHHHHHHH"
TheTrueBlueSonicFan That's is exactly what I said. What is your point? O.o
***** They acknowledge that in the movie
+TheTrueBlueSonicFan I know that's retarded
***** Experience exactly what?
***** ^_^ It really is so blatant what the movie is promoting, its hard to not be sarcastic as in my first response.
I never thought the bible was very faith promoting, personally I got more out of the Bhagavad-Gita
Amen!!!
Luis Camilo Look at Bill Maher, he thinks that being a smart ass is going to prove his point. In that sense, it's not "overgeneralizing."
If god wasn't already dead, this movie surely finished him off.
That made me laugh. LOL.
Since it is a no brainer that no living person possesses such knowledge, he/she cannot logically say "I know God doesn't exist."
I used to question why atheists watch videos related to Christianity, or any religion for that matter. Then I discovered what people mean by "troll." Once I discovered the definition, I understood why people like all of you comment on videos like this, and I don't find it a very pleasant reason.
+Andrej Đukić Please don't. Just stop.
Lol the won 😭 God is dead, the year is 6 bwhaha
When I was 9 I loved god so much I had jesus merchandise and movies I prayed every night and said "god is love, god is life" my dad would hear me and call me faggot I knew he was just jealous of my devotion to god
That flew WAAAAAAAAAYYYY over your head
Way to go Jayzon! :D ppl who make comments like that u need to just shake it off & keep looking to our Heavenly Father.keep up ur deep Faith :D God bless u dude
I love that no one seemed to get the reference hahahahahah
This guy above me is the only one to point it out yet ^
ahahahhahhahahahhhahahha
This was one of the funniest things I've seen all week. When the music at 2:14 started to play I almost died laughing.
I was posting a comment and suddenly that crap started playing. I keeled over in my chair....
and which music do u listen to?
7mightyace Music that's actually good.
Adam X That's not what I meant, which genre? and which songs
people must understand these movies are not perfect, but the objective is to start the conversation somewhere. there are so many people who have questions about god, but dont know where to start asking, or are afraid to ask.
God doesn't exist that is why there are so many that who question your religion! Reason has trumped faith and it always will. God is dead!
ddurbin1986 . no maam it dosent. if it hadnt been for god allowing these people to learn to come up with this so called reason, we all would be walking around with no knowledge of anything whatsoever. your argument is not valid.
DearNurse Nicole
God allowed people to have reason? Is that why he punished Adam and eve for craving knowledge?
How did you get 90s Hercules & 90s Superman in one movie?
hahaha
It's just one more piece of evidence that God is not dead!
I know right! I love it though lol
they have both superman and hercules n this movie and you dun have them team up or beat the shit out of each other ?! missed oppurtunity !
Because they thought it was just another sucky DTV/MFTV movie like all the rest that they star in. Its quality is pretty much on the same level even though it grossed $60 million at the box office!
If a god existed, movies like this would not.
It's a way of showing the world that God really does exist.
And a movie in the middle east about Islam is a way of showing the world that Allah really does exist.
Ana Kate
Believe, nobody in the world who isn't already convinced in your dogmatic isn't going to be swayed after watching this film. This film's purpose is not to show those who do not believe in god his existence, it's to profit of those who are foolish to think the former is a possibility.
They built one hell of a straw man with this movie..
my thoughts exactly
Reuben Shanmugham
It is one thing to tell you to leave it out of the class room and another to denounce it all together.
So pumped for the sequel.

This movie trailer is flawed in so many ways.
1. Atheist are portrayed as crazy people 0:13 and all around assholes 1:44 (That gun looks so fake)
2. The teacher throws out the whole concept of Philosophy 101 if he says god is not real in the first 30 seconds of his class without even a debate. The definition of Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems, such as those connected with reality, existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. 0:55
3. 1:41 this has been done so many times in real debates and it always comes down to the believer saying the bible says so and the non-believer saying their is no evidence to support that idea.
4. 1:52 she is a bad person becuase she gives him a ultimatum and forces him to choose between two things he enjoys doing. Extremely cliche
5. 2:30 no, science does not support the existent of god.
6. 2:34 he cannot hate god if he does not believe in god.
It probably has more flaws, but I'm getting bored.
This is just stoopid propaganda on par with Reefer Madness. This video will surely convert more people to atheism than christianity.
David Scidmore
"University is a scary place for Christians and Conservatives because of the things professors want to drill into you."
Like how facts don't require faith and that Christianity isn't a special or unique ideology? I can see how those would be pretty scary prospects to a sheltered Christian.
Our faith is very much tested in colleges and universities. You're ignorant if you think other wise
Me: I don't believe in leprechauns
Christian: WHY DO YOU HATE LEPRECHAUNS!?
inVINC31ble Me too! :D
Nate sent me here too :)
Why do I hate leprechauns? Because they're always after me Lucky Charms. They're magically delicious.
I have to agree that God could not be dead. But then, neither could Santa Claus as long as he has believers.
+Walter White The atheist in the movie used the same arguments all the atheists use and they fell (fail) apart. The professor knew that they fell apart and that the only explanation could be God (an immaterial, space-timeless, conscience).
+Walter White Gods cant die cuz there is no god
Don't say "every knee shall bile."
Bile is the green stuff inside your gall bladder and that has nothing to do with knees.
MELVIN HENDERSON Imaginary? No my friend is very real. He is the reason why you´re here. And I will!

No my friend, sorry.

"Religion is not Man made, God printed on men the desire of him, many wont be Christians, but some others are Islamic and other representation of God, and is OK."
I have no desire to believe something without evidence, so what does that make me? What does that make atheists in general? Perhaps rather we're pattern-seeking mammals and give agency to things which don't necessarily have it, and have developed this way in order to survive.
"Atheists live on a huge lie, is impossible that watching the greatness of this world, you dont think of something greater that create it."
Atheism is a lack of belief in a god, not an assertion that "greatness of this world" could not be created by "something greater".
Do your research, is real, I cant post it here, bur search, is not that hard."
Popularity does not determine the truth of a claim.
I think it's ridiculous that people just go around disliking this trailer for the soul reason that it is a a Christian movie :/
That, and the fact that it's completely stupid. No professor would act the way that he's depicted to in the movie.
It's the usual religious Lying for Jesus.
I'm pretty sure it has to do with the blatant demonetization and misrepresentation of atheists and secular schools.
Well it isn't just a Christian movie that probably will be stupid. The arguments for the existence of a god or gods have been debunked so many times it is ridiculous. It is propaganda that makes a straw man of philosophy classes and basically attempts to make atheists look like assholes.
Good thought eric Dustin
Eric Dustin
We all observe the same evidence.

***** You are really justifying innocent deaths because they don't have the same beliefs as you? Okay...
God is not dead, modern or not, he is unlimited.
Ye he's not. That which doesn't exist can't be alive or dead.
First thing everybody should know about atheists is that we don't care what other people believe we just don't share the belief in a god and want to be left out of it.
michael C
I am not sure if that comment is satire/ mockery of the discrimation of atheist or belief in other religions.
I'm a christian and also a pastor, but I don't like most christian films because they're cheesy and too simplistic.
rhulani Mashila Not to mention dishonest, in the case of this dumpster fire of a film. "God exists because there are things that science cannot explain and my opponent secretly hates him". _eye roll_

TheDapperSwindler No, he said you can't prove God but you can't disprove him either
TheTrueBlueSonicFan
Sure, and then he used arguments that all effectively said "here's something I/we don't have an explanation for, therefore God exists and he did it". It's laughable reasoning.
TheDapperSwindler The proof is not that strong so I wouldn't call it proving
I believe in Jesus and stuff like that but this movie isn't making the professor look like an atheist it's trying to make him look like an anti-Christ. And atheists don't think god is dead, they just think god does not exist.
THANK you. I am an atheist, and the whole premise of the movie is ridiculous- no atheist thinks God is dead, we think he isn't real.
Izzy Taylor is you not believe in god, why are you here comment and watching this video!!!????
@Anthony R. Because the Christians of Instagram keep quoting random stupid lines from this movie and keep telling me to watch it because apparently it's what all atheists should watch and it'll magicay change my mind.
Izzy Taylor
I thought think one day like you.

God is not dead.
Things that never existed can't die.

You must really have no life to come , search up the trailer, and comment something so rhetorical
Reminds me of a joke I heard once.
"Going to war for your religion is like fighting with your schoolmates about who's got the best imaginary friend."
Is He not worthy of the faith people put on Him?
Hugo Quezel Poirier So, you are claiming that you have infinite knowledge?
I'm a Christian. And I can't prove that God exists I just know that he does exist. And to all those who say that God does not exist the only thing that i can say is one day we will all find out the truth. For we walk by Faith not by sight.
"And I can't prove that God exists I just know that he does exist."
Can you name any other thing that you "know" exists, yet cannot prove?

Mystery singer girl God is dead. I killed him. So why do you hate me? WHY, DO YOU HATE THE TRUTH ABOUT GOD?
Treemn why do you hate the truth that he is alive?
You can make a good christian movie without being biased and hateful towards atheists. This movie was propaganda, and it was horribly insulting.
Erin L
Dude, the problem is that when people make a movie it is to get a moral or point across not to be non biased.
2:29 - "Science supports his existence"
Uhh...I think they are gonna need to provide some references for that one. Why is it so hard to show some proof? That's all I am asking for.
Wait until the movie comes out, or do some research of your own. The results might surprise you.
*****
Can I suggest to you to read the book 'The Case of Christ' by Lee Strobel? It was written by a man who was an atheist and tried to disprove the bible to his christian wife... but he quickly discovered that logically, when looking at the evidence, the Christian faith was true and so then turned into a Christian himself. It's well worth a read.. for someone who was 'heavily Christian' you may find it interesting.. and may realise just how much evidence is actually right in front of you. :)
Grace Ellero
I shouldn't have to prove the Bible is untrue.
DropD10
"Quran" is such a life changing, radical book. You can't just immediately discount it as untrue. Surely, seeing the quran's implications would make you want to find out if it is true.
I didn't losed my faith, I have overcome it.
R'amen
...how does that make sense? x) Not hatin', just askin'. :)

Yes, God is good. You must have faith and believe in Him. Believe it or not, He made you and living being upon this earth, but mankind He made in His image and in His likeness as it is written. He made the heavens and the earth. It all, and we all come from Him. He loves you.
No, god's not dead, he just doesn't exist.
+Mysterious “Hooded” Figure He loves you and he wants to save you, my brother.
+Никола Григоров prove it
It's quite the shame you think that. I know God exists because he saved me from death about 2 years ago.
Israel Gonzalez prove it
Antonov BlackString 2 years ago, on July, I was hit by a truck when I rode my bike to the store about to get some food.
So, especially since you admit you haven't seen the movie, don't say this is an exaggeration.....
captainscott2 Did you go to the dean? The ACLU? Is there somewhere I can read about this story in the press?
TheDapperSwindler
after the movie during the credits they gave numerous list of similar accounts of court cases on students vs Universities.
God Bless All sentient beings! Love, Light, Laughter, Joy, & Peace to YOU ~❤~
"Did you just assume my religion?!"
- Angry Student
This trailer just shows how ignorant Christians are about atheists.I am a atheist, and I never in my life said I hate God or ever heard a fellow atheist say they hate God.
That's not what the movie is about. The professor used to be a Christian, but lost his faith and is angry at God.
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. John 15:18
I hate god when i was christian but as soon as became an atheist, I had no more hate in my heart.
TDI CharlieBrown
That's good, so maybe we can agree that there is a difference between what the professor in this movie does and what some people in the comments section are doing. I think most everyone is deserving of respect, but some people (myself included, to be honest) don't feel that the Christian belief itself is deserving of respect.
Why is that? I'm just curious.
MrRager711 "It goes both ways can u disprove God?"
Nope, and I also cannot disprove Bigfoot, fairies, leprechauns, most conspiracy theories, or any other gods either.
"Whats the point of a moral conscience if everything means nothing,"
"Meaning" is a subjective term. There may very well be no "meaning" to the universe, but that does not necessarily mean everything means nothing. Meaning is something one applies to things themselves.
"by that logic it was right for Americans to own slaves, Hitler to kill jews, men's right to beat their wives. If this is the only life you believe in then whatever you want is right."
You must not be familiar with what morality actually is.
"Good or bad only comes into play if u believe in morals, morals are a sign of God. "
Morality is a process of the mind. You engage in this process to evaluate the consequences of your actions with respect to others. It is not completely objective, nor is it completely subjective, rather it is situational (although this definition may vary depending on how a person defines these terms). There is no god necessary anywhere in this definition, let alone one no evidence has been provided for.
I don't have to. I never made the claim of his existence. I believe unicorns exist, It's true because I say so. Now prove me wrong.
...Obviously you only know the Old Testament.
In the New Testament they believed in SERVANTS.
Those are not slaves.
Slaves are ones you treat like crap, and refuse help and food for them.
Servants are treated like friends.
While I respect your beliefs I just wanted to share my knowledge on the 'slavery' in the bible.
Yes, I understand how they edited and re-edited the fallible book over time in order to suit their needs.
I swear this movie touches me so bad! I've watched it so many times and everytime i watch it it's like the first time! My God's not dead, He's surely alive!!!!!
lol
Hallelujah!

God isn't dead: True statement. In order to be dead, one must have existed first.

During daytime, look up.
Crocodoc Lastname have you ever seen love, physically? can you hold love?? can you hold hate?you can't see it, so apparently love never existed

The Big Bang is not an explosion.
Nor does it have -ANYTHING- to do with the ultimate creation of the universe.
David Goldberg "Back then, scientists knew to agree with Einstein"
Sources? Because I tend to doubt that is true,or entirely true. Science is not dogmatic, and no one is meant to be taken at their word simply for their reputation. As I understand it, the steady state and Big Bang theory were in competition, but it wasn't until CMB was observed that one of them was confirmed over the other.
"The priest said "the universe coming into existence in a trillionth of a trillionth of a second is exactly how I would expect it to happen if God had said "let there be light'". "
So since he was correct about the Big Bang, that means he's also correct about a god?
anonynaw My friend.
TysaurOfficial There is simply more evidence of a creator then isn't.
TysaurOfficial Name some?
Being a Christian myself, this movie looks like cancer.
Aka one of the most 'liberal' minded fields of study there is, apparently.)
It wasn't always what professors said-though I DID have one prof who made us buy a course pack that was 80% his opinion and 20% hand-picked historical fact bent to his arguments; no, I am NOT exaggerating-but what they didn't say, the course materials they chose or didn't choose, the directions in which they led discussions, which student opinions they praised and which ones they barely addressed, etc. This enabled me to voice my perspective without getting cut off...and to swear loudly at the screen at some of the more ignorant responses I'd get-and, as an added bonus, I could do it all from the comfort of home :)
Point is though, I shouldn't have had to do that.
Actually, yeah :/
Shelly Roosevelt It's kinda happening now: ShadeVlog is talking about her experience, and FatalCroissant begin using strawman and well-poisoning tactics to essentially say "well, go ahead and talk all you like... we'll still think your opinion is not worthy of respect. We still will not listen to you, and giving you respect is dangerous. Shouldn't we be ridiculing you now?"
Only a person with AS will not see the very clear message: "Shut up. I wish you just keep quiet."
As for the unrealistic professor in this movie: it's a movie.
As a christian I am sad on so many levels that movies like these are made.. talk about putting people off!
dontaskformyname it's a movie about standing up for Christ. I want to support it because you very rarely see movies like this.
yeah, i'm sure hollywood really gives a crap about your belief in god. now you're money, that's a different story.......
captainplanet999 ikr! Hopefully the money will make them want to make more movies like this.
Liana Mack
Isn't Christ supposed to be, like, "God on Earth" or something?
Devon Gomes
How is expressing an opinion shoving anything down anyone's throat?
God's not dead. He was never alive.
Galimatías Oximoroniano
dont lie, its not nice
brainwashing
I think the fact that this movie exists is quite telling...Creatards are starting to realise science isn't on their side, so they resort to fiction instead.
I once had a professor try to make me say Cthulhu was dead. I wouldn't do it. Praise the Dark Cthulhu. Long may he reign.
"do you hate cthulu?" "yes he wants to destroy the universe." "HOW CAN YOU HATE SOMETHING THAT DOESNT EXIST?"
this was so hilarious,... well at least until I realized it actually exists, and is not a parody...
I mean no offense to christians, if I were a christian, I would be offended by this film as well.
It's Poe's law in effect.
Gods not dead because he was never alive.
Gods not dead because he's always been alive
Well fair enough then
It's a symbolic phrase that's actually about Western civilization's widespread belief/disbelief, coined by Nietzsche in the 1800s, predicting that that time period was the beginning of the end of Christianity's cultural domination.
There is a minor problem with this trailor. When he says science proves god, that is quite the opposite of what science has done...
But then again, we can't say that it's a definite fact that the planets didn't form right away because it's dependent on your belief in the theory or in God.
damn, do all Christians turn that aggressive like the main character at the end of the trailer?
+Fer Visser Good news: No
Bad news: This movie might change that...
+Fer Visser Did David and Goliath have to show aggression toward's each other? Yes-because God authorized it guy. When God wants someone who's out of control out of the picture..He gives the means. Think about the present times. The news reports of the wars lately.
Yeah, utilizing God's name and saying what he represents with no direct authorization from Him, nice.
+Fer Visser yeah what do you care? you don't believe in him anyways Idiot.
+Jesse Reyna implying i am an idiot just because i am writing my point, nice logic.
Yeah because any teacher would ever say something like that in a classroom.
Give me a break.
- Professor is an atheist because he probably lost his child or wife and "god wasn't there" (sad I know)
- This "battle" between him and the professor starts affecting his personal life i.e. girlfriend, friends, health, etc. But he sees this as a challenge that god has placed before him.
- At the end of the movie, the kid changes the heart of the professor, making him believe in god once again. (awww)
Blah... Blah... Blah...
rraah
What they fail to point out is that a philosophy professor would see the fallacy in asking students to prove a negative.
***** Excellent point but do you really think any of the idiots making these propaganda films have ever met a philosophy professor or even possess common sense? You give them more credit than I do.
Don't feel bad about the 8% of Americans who don't believe in God. God is real and he's alive I loved your movie and your second one.
The 2nd one was so good
+The chromosome project Sorry but no it is 8%
+Ash Westbrook I truly, truly hope you're being sarcastic
You have a bad taste in movies.
+Ash Westbrook Look I could give half a shit about minorities, but your movie PORTRAYS CHRISTIANITY AS IT, and that's false.
I respect atheists, but science can't prove god exists, but it can't prove he doesn't.
you can't prove that the speghetti monster isn't real, so he most be, right? you can't disprove that the speghetti monster ate god and now has all his powers, so he must have, right?
your argument is backwards and convoluted
Lives only in the subjective truth
I'm Very Proud Christian.
At the beginning sense, because from nonsense can not arise sense or the world is nonsense?
in my opinion, is the capital and the true meaning of Christian faith in
Love your God with all your heart mind and soul and your neighbor as yourself.
*****
I doubt he would force that teenager to do that, but what he probably also wouldn't do is condemn them to an eternity of suffering.
*****
You are assuming a god to exist in the premise of your question.
***** "Would you force your 18 year old teenager, who hated you and couldn't stand you to come live in your house?"
- I wouldn't torture them though!
Rankjoo, That's pretty funny! Really made me laugh -- which made the devil laugh... then Alexa laughed.
I was definitely not brought here by SNL. Nope no way, not me.
+KAPSLOCK I couldn't believe it was real! Fuck this movie hahaha
This movie looks AMAZING! Is it me, or are there more Christian movies coming out than ever before?
It's not just you there are a lot of wonderful Christian movies coming out.
yup, Son Of God came out a little while ago, and theres a book that's called Heaven Is For Real. Theres a movie about it coming out.
LegoJosh101 Hey, my Mom and I read that!
Shelly Roosevelt
Great hollywood movies can make you believe the impossible possible.
Typical Christian movies make you realize how impossible the impossible is.
*****
"Christianity is the worlds biggest religion if I can use that word"
No, you can not. It is a fact that there are more Muslims and more Hindus.
God is NOT dead he is alive!
That which never existed cannot die.
God has always existed!
Derrick Rodriguez He has not existed for you.
Xavier Pacheco Paulino
And he existed for you? How?
amen
God's not dead - You must see this movie. ❤
God bless y'all!
I found it very disturbing, it made it seems like every Muslims and Atheists are jerks and the Christians are the good people.
Caryl Vim Cerna I'm not offended at all. It is obviously a "read between the lines" sort of thing.
This is either the sloppiest work of propaganda, or the greatest work of satire ever created.
Also, Hercules, dude, you used to be cool.
No way this would happen in real life. That professor would be fired in a minute.
Numbers 14:11
The LORD said to Moses, "How long will this people spurn Me? And how long will they not believe in Me, despite all the signs which I have performed in their midst?
+Haig Dickson the bible said that, but where is the proof that he actually did?
+Antonov BlackString These stories are written a veeery long time ago. Also the science uses, for the calculation of how long the earth exist, information from a very long time ago they use the carbon, but the science can't prove that it is true. They expect that, but now, it is proven that the carbon theory just not good.
+Frederick Lourens oh shit. a book that can lie vs carbon dating, you said carbon dating could be wrong. wow, you are thick.
I have said this far too many times, you can't rely on the complete honesty of the bible as no evidence has ever been found.
AND
carbon-dating has been proven to work over and over again. they test it on new stuff, old stuff, and really old stuff. The number of witnesses that use carbon dating is in the hundreds compared to the 0 witnesses that can say the bible is telling the truth
Anton Nguyen and where is the proof that he didn't
@@fredericklourens5050 wth are you talking about huh
God is NOT DEAD because.... he has NEVER EXISTED !
Believe what you like free will, God is not dead....
What/who created this Earth?
Please answer this for me.
JuliaLiz58 You assume it was created.
It's both ways in real life. Overly-religious fundies and overconfident antitheists with superiority complex; one being no better than the other
I don't consider myself religious, but I'm not an atheist. I can't define myself to someone else's beliefs and find that there are much more important things in life to argue about. That being said I do feel like you like to fill people into stereotypes and groups and that is your main problem. You don't see people you see people as groups and not as individuals. You should work on that.
Brent Loescher You cannot expect me to name every individual I feel that falls in this category. Stop trying to read between the lines.
and didn't you who just saw it to fulfill your own curiosity just do what your saying we do?
And of all people to accept the Lord on their death bed, yeah there is a whole book about the inventor of the theory of evolution, Darwin, reading his bible day and night and repenting of his disbelief.
toots4jesus I stopped reading after the first paragraph since it's clear that you have no idea about where I stand on the topic.
Next time ask God to help you!
Waited a whole year for an answer. 4 years later... I'm still waiting. I'm honesty and willing to change my mind of quantifiable and verifiable evidence presents itself
I believe in one God.. the father almighty.. the creator of heaven and earth.. and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ..
Good for you. Ra bless
