1988 was a combination of 1986 with enough of 1987 to make it a frustrating year, losing to stinking Jets on the last game of the 1988 season. The Giants not only lost the NFC East division they missed the playoffs with that loss.
Giants & Jets played each other in the last game of the season in both 1987 & 88. Jets weren't atrocious in 88 at 8-7-1 but a mediocre team the Giants with the playoffs on the line should have beaten.
Giants were in the almost same exact position the next year in season finale 1989 Their opponent Raiders were similar to the 88 Jets average. Jets were 7 7 1 going into game Raiders were 8 7. The eagles would win their last game like in 88 and Giants would’ve blown the division title with a loss. They had learned their lesson though, and they beat the Raiders to win the NFC East the only difference from 88 was the Giants would’ve still made the playoffs if they had lost
Couldnt wait till the 1987 season wanted more because I was a fan from 1964 and have watched terrible football. Not to be but got more later well a lot more. Out BH.

The Giants replacement team was a disgrace. It was a terrible job by George Young getting players. I watched those games and it was pathetic the players wearing the Giants uniform. I thought it was 1966 all over again and it would've been because they were 0-3 and if the regulars didn't cross the picket line to end the strike they might not have won 1 game.
A year later the Giants would go on to prove that 1987 struggle was a fluke that should never have happened but were done in at least partly due to having the crappiest replacement team in the league. Granted they got unlucky in 1988 however, not to mention they shouldn't have lost to the Jets.
Love that music track @ 9:37

@@kevinburke6055 Draft choices of David Meggett, Myron Guyton and Greg Jackson also help make the difference on that 1989 team.

21:22 The other Bill?
Yep, Belichick was a longtime Defensive Cooridinator for Parcells throughout the 80s & later in the late 90s w the Patriots (1996) & Jets (1997-99).

The 1987 NFL season was a disappointed year for the New York Giants

I discount strike years
LT & Banks = MJ & Pippen
