Grins..thats a great and very gutsy monologue. Will he get to host again? I don't know but he did a Masterful job of keeping it light and swinging for the fences at the same time with the hard hitting issues jokes. Good for him.
I don't like him generally, but Ricky would have NAILED it this year! This guy seemed to be too much a "suck up apology to women" for the actions of other men. Gervais would have attacked the men and women sitting there for different reasons - Globe management wanted a single-track voice which is sad.
I'm pretty sure they offer it to him every year, he's rejected it quite a few times because he's said if he doesn't feel like he can do a better job every time then he just says no
LolGuy: It’s a joke. If you listened to the part before he’s talking about how most industry people and crew members are hard-working and not rich movie stars, including those behind the scenes from make up to camera to lighting to sound, etc. He said they all work hard for moderate pay and earned their way there but there’s always that one who you know got there because they know someone or they’re well-connected and those are often the ones who abuse the privilege by showing up late or not being diligent, yet they get by with it because of their connection. You see a lot of directors or Hollywood bigwigs’ adolescent sons get a free shot doing behind the scenes or crew work on successful TV shows and movies because of their parents. In this case the joke is that the one slacking off is identified to the person asking as “Jeremy Paramount“, a reference to his last name being the supposed family that owns the famous studio (although of course it wasn’t named after a family).
hands down - that joke a woman walked into the frame with Globes for Spielberg, Streep and Hanks was the best moment in the history of Globes monologs 🤗
It would just be a normal year for Gervais - he was calling these people out long before they got caught. This show was much more family friendly (boring) than Gervais's monologues - and all the worse for it! Still - I like Seth's show, especially the "Closer Look" section.
"The Post.. directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep..." (*BRINGS OUT FOUR GOLDEN GLOBES*) And they didn't win... 0/6... I think he brought bad luck
The gag wasn’t about them winning, it was about the corruption. I think most people missed that, even meryl Streep and ss because they are so into themselves.
@@Rubylove48 Naaahh, it was about the expectation that "prestige" names bring to award-bait movies. The three of them have so many awards between them, and "crusading journos" are such noble cannon fodder.

Yeah, I agree with you! Ricky Gervais would see to it that Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey get beaten with nightsticks by their victims of sexual harassment! Yeah!
Seth is a good guy. He may not have been as great as other past hosts but everyone has their own style, some work and some don't. I'm sure it's tough being up in front of a room full of your award winning peers. It can make a person nervous and humbled by their presents. Good job Seth!
I was gonna post that just now. Meyers doesn't have timing or wit to throw these jokes. He is simply not funny in any way. Gervais, on the other hand, got me crying from so much laughter when he was hosting.
11:10 "When you're on a film set you meet hairdressers, and cameramen, and script supervisors doing "American Dream" jobs. Of course we would never invite those people here with us, the Hollywood elites, but if we acknowledge they at least exist that seems good enough for a round of applause."
Absolutely nailed it, Seth. This was a superb monologue; so many and varied jokes, capturing and inspiring the spirit of that year. Never toadying, he sensitively poked fun at selected audience members, but stuck it to those absentees who most deserved it (trump and weinstein. Very similar. Has anyone seen them in the same room together I wonder?). Sorry, Ricky, but your show is a one-dimensional busted flush, now that trump is president; he does the same act, but far more gigs than you. Please come back, Seth, you're our no.1 satirist.
I think Seth did ok for this particular award show. Some jokes were really funny, while others could have been better, as they felt maybe too soon to be making fun of. But overall he did well in my opinion.
FielAlManga LoL obviously it was a joke. OBVIOUSLY 13 year olds aren’t being served alcohol. You must be one of those people that doesn’t understand humor and takes everything literally huh? Haha

Probably worth mentioning that Daniel is British. That's kind of just how we react to stuff.
TheOmegajuice lol that makes sense then.
TheOmegajuice I mean it’s not but ok then
@@theomegajuice8660 I'm english and that ain't how we react to stuff like that lmao
if they were ballsy enough to let him say this stuff, why not let ricky gervais host. he wouldve slaughtered them allxd
Thanks for the sexy girls. They sure are sexy. And girls.
Daniel mouthing “appreciate it” when he was mentioned 😍
Genuinely thought he was about to say the 75th annual hungergames
Emily Price me too ! I was waiting for it and i got excited for no reason !
I honestly couldn't help but stare at Sebastian Stan when I noticed him sitting at the table behind Tom Hanks with Margot Robbie.
So cool. I love Seb too
Seth doesn't blink enough 😂
Grins..thats a great and very gutsy monologue. Will he get to host again? I don't know but he did a Masterful job of keeping it light and swinging for the fences at the same time with the hard hitting issues jokes. Good for him.
I actually quite enjoyed this monologue
Same
11:52 "That's Jeremy Paramount" that killed me
i wish Hollywood have a gut to bring Ricky Gervais again :)
That;s why shows like this are not able to be watched
Yeah they couldn’t do that he would have just ripped into them
Bring back the funny Little englishman, Auf Wiedersehen aus Berlin
I don't like him generally, but Ricky would have NAILED it this year! This guy seemed to be too much a "suck up apology to women" for the actions of other men. Gervais would have attacked the men and women sitting there for different reasons - Globe management wanted a single-track voice which is sad.
I'm pretty sure they offer it to him every year, he's rejected it quite a few times because he's said if he doesn't feel like he can do a better job every time then he just says no
Exactly what Ricky Gervais hated, a host pandering to these people, he would have been so funny with this
John Gold she'd take it in a stride tho... there's no unravelling Oprah. (...Doesn't mean I also wouldn't like to see it!) 🤣
Exactly.
"You lost me at 'of age" was brutal (and fair).
Gorsh love Billy Eichner!!
One word to describe his performance: Brilliant.
“Oh, that’s Jeremy Paramount.”
that was hysterical - and so true!
I didn't get that joke. Who is he?
LolGuy: Are you being serious or sarcastic?
SWLinPHX serious
Great job, Seth!
The casting couch was started in the early 20's The Golden Years and continued until Harvey.
"... directed by Stephen Spielberg and stars Tom Hanks..."
**BRINGS OUT FOUR GOLDEN GLOBES**
"Not yet, we have to wait." lol
don't forget Meryl Streep
I think he brought bad luck😂😂 0/6
hands down - that joke a woman walked into the frame with Globes for Spielberg, Streep and Hanks was the best moment in the history of Globes monologs 🤗
Seth did well, but this year would've been perfect for Ricky Gervais, he is the master!
Jacob Anderson yes!
It would just be a normal year for Gervais - he was calling these people out long before they got caught.
This show was much more family friendly (boring) than Gervais's monologues - and all the worse for it!
Still - I like Seth's show, especially the "Closer Look" section.
they were too scared to invite him this year :)
That would have been fricking amazing!
They can't do that, he would forinstance say something like this, "The award for best Harvey Weinstein BJ goes to..."
"The Post.. directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep..." (*BRINGS OUT FOUR GOLDEN GLOBES*)
And they didn't win...
@@tommytimp okay, may not be exactly what I’m saying but it’s closely related. Everything is pre-scripted and preordained at the oscars. Based on the business of selling a film or selling an identity ✌🏽
@@Rubylove48 This was not the Oscars.
@@tommytimp I’m pretty sure everyone knows what I meant and the overarching theme of my comment but thanks for the correction award show policeman.
Hey was great but honestly Ricky would have owned the damn room
Yeah, I agree with you! Ricky Gervais would see to it that Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey get beaten with nightsticks by their victims of sexual harassment! Yeah!
Leon Calero your comment totally owns!
Ricky was far too dangerous for this one, hopefully he comes back soon though.
I thought Seth was perfect.
Darth Clone No! We have to save Ricky for next year after the potential crazyness of 2018!
Seth is a good guy. He may not have been as great as other past hosts but everyone has their own style, some work and some don't. I'm sure it's tough being up in front of a room full of your award winning peers. It can make a person nervous and humbled by their presents. Good job Seth!
He was perfect for that year's show. It was a topical year and that's what he does best.
I don't know why but I swear I see a Hidden Mickey behind Seth. Lol
Nancy Aguilar Thanks. Thanks a lot, lol. ;)
Nancy Aguilar you do!!
+Cheryl Smith I do
But that's the Disney in me. Seeing Hidden Mickeys wherever I go.
Disney low key going to buy the industry next
Ricky Gervais sholud have hosted this year, he would have ripped them a new one!
I was gonna post that just now. Meyers doesn't have timing or wit to throw these jokes. He is simply not funny in any way. Gervais, on the other hand, got me crying from so much laughter when he was hosting.
“I’m reclaiming my wine” - Is a whole vibe 😎
Mariah Crews I'm taking your wine away from you.
Amy Poehler is still an absolute genius
11:10 "When you're on a film set you meet hairdressers, and cameramen, and script supervisors doing "American Dream" jobs. Of course we would never invite those people here with us, the Hollywood elites, but if we acknowledge they at least exist that seems good enough for a round of applause."
Bacause of Unions...
Peter Steman wow
Well done Seth !
i am missing ricky gervais
like you miss you brain?
Every comedian has his own brand of comedy!!!! Learn to accept that...
Seth was amazing
Said his mom.
*All you had to do was follow the damn train CJ*
FunForSameer lool
FunForSameer I am so glad this is the top comment
Oh my god I'm laughing too hard at this
YOU PICKED THE WRONG HOUSE FOOL!
Filipe Teles it's from GTA San Andreas
Seth nailed it, great to see him getting more airtime.
I love Daniel Kaluuyas expressions lmao he is not one to fake laughs if he doesnt find something funny
A.M Lash i love how he feels uncomfortable because of all of the white shaming
guy koplowich the...what?
lol
Lol yea he seems real
Omg, I never noticed that Amber and Jenny from Seth’s show were the ones handing the mikes to the celebrities before Amy
This was so brilliantly delivered by Seth!
Issa Rae delivered that perfectly!!
"it won't be terrifying to hear your name read out loud" - cuts to laughing William H. Macy. How about your wife Felicity Huffman Bill?
I think Seth did ok for this particular award show. Some jokes were really funny, while others could have been better, as they felt maybe too soon to be making fun of. But overall he did well in my opinion.
mohamed amin yeah he did. He truly was a duck testing the water
5:39 Stranger Things kids know how to take advantage of their environment and make a party, popping bottles at their table.
FielAlManga LoL obviously it was a joke. OBVIOUSLY 13 year olds aren’t being served alcohol.
You must be one of those people that doesn’t understand humor and takes everything literally huh? Haha
A joke requires to be funny.
sux2bu2day Stranger Things kids that are wondering how the story broke on one of them being abused then the whole story disappearing down the memory hole.
Seth should host the Oscars. He nailed the Emmys and GG's
Sucked. Just a liberal sjw woke party
Jessica Chastain's tone and look at the camera spoke VOLUMES more than her punchline.
So awesome
lol Seth Rogen was like "bro what're you doing. I feel like you're about to expose our secret Hollywood Seth cult"
I thought it was good! Some jokes were so on point haha
The solidarity of the black dresses is pretty powerful actually.
Sean O Wtf is your definition of power?
Mollydollyyyy There is strength in numbers for one thing. Also by simply addressing a topic lends power to the discussion. Seems on several fronts this issue is finally being well dealt with. High time I say.
A lot of women wearing these black dresses knew about the abuse for years and didn't say a word. Pure hypocrits.
powerfully insufferable
Sean O Yes Hollyweird is showing up to it's own funeral disguised as an award show.
he did an AMAZING job. the best host for this show since amy and tina on 2014
