Fascinating lecture; however, I have a question. At 32:45 the lecturer says that "Quetzalcoatl is a white man" and would like to know the source material for this claim, especially given the fact that in much of the documented history, the Iberians refer to themselves not as "white" or "blancos" but as "Christians/Cristianos." They identify so heavily with this religion that they even have a linguistic association with this religious identity when they say that so and so "habla cristiano" or "speaks cristian," IOW "Castilian Spanish." I would like a footnote if possible. Thank you, JAH

yea, ok, I bow to your knowledge. It's just a habit with me to regard all laws, mandates, ordinances and restrictions with Liberals because they appear to promulgate most of them. Also, I understand that they must say "...educational purposes" because the law allows greater latitude when under that auspices but can you tell me why it would further state, "...opinions are not...of the Oblates?" I saw nothing in the video that was contrary to Catholic teachings viz a viz the Blessed Mother. Did you?
Double Ghod Regarding "opinions," the views stated by Luis in regards to certain details of the image, for example, how many people can be seen in each eye of the Guadalupe image and the possible identity of these people, are not part of Church teaching and therefore fall under the category of a subjective viewpoint.
Europeans had khown that the Earth is round (at least) since II century B.C. Because of this wide spread knowledge Christopher Columbus set sail west in search of India! He thougt he had reached India. Such a basic mistake makes me doubt other things in this very interesting presentation
Agreed. Sounds more like an apologetic for barbaric paganism than evangelization of the Americas. The Spanish Catholic view of natives as soulless also sounds dubious.
I wonder why the heck they introduce this video with a disclaimer: "...for educational purposes." "...not necessarily the view of blah, blah." I'm sure there is some legal reason (promulgated by some Liberal lawmaker, no doubt), I'm just curious what the reason is.
Double Ghod Usually when content is created for “educational purposes” it is described as such as to cover themselves against being accused of any copyright infringement. If they were selling this newly created content, creators must get legal permissions to use other works. Intellectual property attorneys are usually hired by many media corporations, which, by most accounts, are very much capitalistic and profits driven; far from liberal. A good business law class will help explain commerce and intellectual properties.
Great lecture up until 26:01 where he makes the huge mistake by repeating the mythology that Medieval Europeans especially the Spanish believed in the flat earth. They most certainly did not. All of the astronomers, cartographers, etc knew the earth was global or spherical in nature. Huge nasty blemish to an otherwise find lecture.
Yes, even in the middle ages one believed the earth being round. Proof in the drawings from old books. Columbus thought the world was more pear shaped.

I have my doubts about the image of Our Lady of Quadalupe: First, the image of Our Lady of Quadalupe was Not painted on cactus fibers! But the image of Our Lady of Quadalupe was painted on CANVAS! ! That is why the image has lasted for 500 Years! ! Every painting on CANVAS lasts Forever! ! Look closely and you will see! ! Second, The flowered image on the tilma of Our Lady of Quadalupe is representative of the Fine Art Work from 16th century Spain! ! Investigate this and you will see! ! Third, The painting of Our Lady of Quadalupe was shipped from Spain to Mexico to help influence the Indians to convert to the Catholic Faith! ! And it worked! Now millions of Latinos from USA Mexico and Central America all believe the story of Our Lady of Quadalupe! But in the 16th century it was easy to Fool the Indians into believing that the image of Our Lady of Quadalupe was true! ! !
Physicist Adolfo Orozco; ‘In 1946 the Institute of Biology at the University of Mexico studied the tilma, confirming that it was made with agave fibres;. In order for an agave cloth to last a long time it would need to be treated continually, to fight the parasites that attack it. Unlike a linen cloth which is very durable, agave fibres only last for a very short time. This topic is a surprise for many investigators as the fabric has been conserved for more than 475 years. A famous painting dated from the 18th Century, made of the same material, did not last for more than 10-years. After 8-years all the colours used had changed and the fabric had deteriorated badly. The fibres had broken in spite of the fact that it had been protected by glass. The entire setting that the image was kept encouraged decay since the environment was quite damp and full of salt peter. The original image remained for almost 120 years without the protection of glass. It is therefore a surprise that this fabric so fragile should have been preserved. Special measures have only been taken to protect it in recent years. Recent studies show that the fabric is still not decaying.’
Miguel Cabrera a mid-18th century artist; replicated three copies of the image, including one for the Pope. He said, ‘I believe that the most talented and careful painter, if he sets himself to copy this Sacred Image on a canvas of this poor quality, without using sizing, and attempting to imitate the four media employed, would at last after great and wearisome travail, admit that he had not succeeded. And this can be clearly verified in the numerous copies that have been made with the benefit of varnish, on the most carefully prepared canvases, and using only one medium, oil, offers the greatest facility. It was absurd to believe that an artist would have used such a rough canvas made up of 2 pieces’.
Physicist Adolfo Orozco; ‘A study was carried out in 1936 by Doctor Richard Coombe. A yellow and a red fibre were analysed. He could not determine whether the pigments were of vegetable, animal or mineral origin. Nor has it been possible to explain the preservation of the pigments, which after such a long time appear so natural. This is not true of any copies. Dr Coombe was an expert in his field, he received a Nobel Prize for chemistry, and he understood the chemical composition of acids, pigments, tinctures and bases.’
