I bought my Quechua wood stove yesterday at Decathlon after dreaming about it for over a week. I've seen two beautiful reviews from Mr. Donkow, the one negative review from Kent, and because I was curious what second combustion means, I watched "Fix This Build That" download patents to convert his fire pit into a smokeless fire pit. Thanks to you, I'm learning about gasification. I can't wait to use my Quechua wood stove!

Many thanks. We use ours all the time, with no problems as you have seen from our videos. Yep once one understands this process, then this stove rocks without any modifications. Thank you for your comments here!

I had the Quechua in mind but I got a BIOLITE for Christmas. Great little stove that works with wood and with pellets. Very effective and it charges a battery pack while the flame is going.

Yeah i was thinking about a biolite a whole back ago as well.

Its an interesting item because no need to take gas canisters etc and it allows to charge a phone, GPS, etc.I have a solar panel but that only works if there is sun. ( rare thing the last 5 month here in central Europe)
It might be a bit heavy for short trips but I find it a great thing to have if I plan to camp for several days and also for car camping. It works with wood and pellets. A small handfull of pallets is enough to boil 3 cups of water. Cheers.

Good instructional video. This looks like a good lightweight, heat--producing stove. With the flames produced, my only concern would be the grease or oil in the skillet catching on fire.

it can of course catch fire because any dripping fat's/oils can make their way through the vents underneath that wire mesh and then into the stove. Although i've never had a problem with it because it is usually short lived.

There is nothing wrong with this stove. Let's be clear, it's impossible to burn wood completely smokeless . Someone who claims to have a stove that burns smokelessly is lying. The manufacturer can be blamed for not making a good manual. To me, it's both a stove and a campfire in a pot.
    Happy.

I think it looks like it works quite well. I think the reason some people might not like it is most people are hikers or day campers. And this kind of stove is just too big. You’d have to carry a whole additional bag just to bring this with you

It's not that big we went on a ten k trip that day with the stove, I just threw it full of wood to begin with inside of a Deuter Guide 35 plus rucksac.

yes, i have one. it IS heavy and unpractical for hikers. with car, it is a different story. ymmv

Thanks! Yes when being used correctly this is an excellent little stove. But this is for most stoves, use them incorrectly eg a multi-fuel-you can kill yourself; a wood burning stove-end up becoming a smoke machine etc.

I guess there are many people out there who don't understand the concept of 'smokeless' stoves (or fires for that matter). I've never used one of these stoves before but I know how they work and have pondered the thought of making one using heavy-duty tin cans. I guess it would be just as easy to buy one. As it stands, if I can't light a fire where I'm camping, I use a '360 Degrees' brand butane stove. I have the little pot kit and can fit a small canister in there. I rarely use it though. A small ground fire works for cooking usually.

Well the problem too is mate that there are so many presenters who publish BS on purpose just to get the views. I mean that's one of the reasons behind me making these videos about this stove when i read (from a big big channel) that they were rubbish and I thought, no way can that be true.

its possible you're right they dont own one, but owned someting similar, i can remember using one that had a battery powered fan to assist the airflow ( think it was called sierra ), well similar to what you have found, folks saying it doesnt work....blah blah blah. i would tell them it does work, but not when you keep stuffing wood in it ad infinitum.
i will say they do take a bit of practice to get used to, but once mastered you never go back, except when in a no fire area of course.

    • @BushCampingTools
      @BushCampingTools  2 года назад

Yeah absolutely right. I have friend who i believe also told me about the batter power fan ones as well. yes it does take some practice for sure but now unless i'm in an area i can light a fire on the ground, I just take this or if i have a car and more people I take the WTS380 stove. You can see where I lit this one up there was an old fire at some stage, maybe not that long ago as i found a green hazel wood stake had been cut recently.
