The smoke happens when you are not using it properly. First you need to get the stove to the working temperature. Then the second combustion happens, only then add the cooking pot. Keep the fire going by adding the firewood slowly. It will smoke very little or not at all. I made a short video about it, it can be found on my channel.
I have seen a couple of reviews on this where they pretty much completely cured the smoke problem by slightly pulling open the ash pan at the bottom. Apparently this is essential. I have seen it in use smoke-free.
I'd have to disagree here with you and others that say/suggest etc. that it doesn't work. I saw your vid, went and had a look at one of these and tested it out. There is a trick, well not even a trick. Unfortunately, it's not written in the manual-LOL, there is no manual- it is after all just a wood stove. Anyway one must use the lower ash tray as the lower air vent. it works because there is a large flange on the tray, so it can still catch ash and provide a variable gap for air intake. Result, ZERO smoke with top hole completely occluded and complete combustion. Try it out, you might think differently about it.
Thanks for being so brutally honest! When I initially saw it, it looked so cool that i wanted 1.
And there you go it's official "one inch makes all the difference"
A good honest review, that makes your past & future reviews feel like you’re also being honest…..
Appreciate the honest review mate, was all for it when you unpacked it, glad I watched the video to see it working/Not working in real time. Long time subscriber to both channels first time commenter, keep up all the good footage always enjoyable.

A good honest review...very rare to see a REAL AND HONEST REVIEW...THANKS ANDY!!!
Adding a pot rest isn’t a deal breaker for me. Thanks for honest review.
Great honest review, thanks Andy.
I am considering to buy this stove. thanks for your sharing true experience!
Another great, honest review. Thank you! I'll stick with my Firebox stoves.
I bought one and yes, that´s the first thing I notice, no top pan/pot support! On a positive note though, I have a Petromax FT1 Dutch oven, which is the smallest one they make, and If you buy the FT1 with feet, those feet fit right in the top feed hole but not all the way in so you´re left with a 3-4cm. gap! Perfect for air flow 😎
You are honest as can be. That's awesome, you don't recommend things you don't like.
Thanks for your review of the product. May be they overcome this problem in their next version. Love from India
Good honest review man. Looks the real deal, needs some little feet on the top to stop that smoke, glad you did this cause you never know, you saved me 50 quid, you never know, cheers bud
Good honest review. Another great video 👍
