As a woman, the scene where she actually gives birth will haunt me in my nightmares. I don’t know if it’s because I’m a Nurse so I know how many unnecessary C-sections are preformed in the US where I live. But her screaming out I’m in pain and everyone ignoring her and then not giving her the babies immediately just broke my heart and sent chills down my spine all at the same time. Wonderful scene.

please or please let this be true. I'm a curmudgeon when it comes to modern horror. I think cheap jump scares are such a cop out and very rarely does a horror movie comes close to being great or anywhere near an all time classic, it's the same old crap (jump scares, shitty acting, poorly written just to turn a quick profit). When this movie was announced I remember audibly groaning and already having a negative perception on the movie cause I didn’t understand why this movie existed. Then color me surprised when I walked out loving this movie one of the best horror prequels ever like seriously wow. I was genuinely unnerved and disturbed so many times throughout this movie via the imagery that was going on like the pregnant woman scene that made my mouth drop. Sm stuff that felt so raw and unfiltered like those 70’s horror movies. The new lore regarding this universe was really interesting. I really loved it, it was a 8.5/10 movie for me. I would be seated for a sequel to this honestly. Someone described the ending as a mcu post credit scene and honestly I agree lol. I really wanna see that NC-17 cut cause wow knowing this movie had stuff cut out is really interesting. My main issues were it started off kinda slow at first and the twist was so obvious but the movie tried to make it seem like it was this mind blowing reveal like um no it wasn’t.

In the Omen, it’s clearly shown that Damien’s parents are the Devil and a Jackal. Why is everyone ignoring the fact that they changed that and to me this doesn’t work when you try to watch The First Omen and The Omen back to back. They also rip off huge scenes from huge movies throughout: The Omen, Rosemarys Baby, Possession and Inside. The parents change actually make the movie more Rosemarys Baby than Omen.

    • @Sanderus

@@Sanderusplease use your brain, with no offense. Brennan SAW the birth of Damien in omen 76. He said it was a Jackal and the devil. • @Sanderus
      @Sanderus 6 месяцев назад +1

@@LucyLioness100 Yes that is also a possibility. Omen is a supernatural franchise about bringing legitimate son of Satan to the world so a lot is possible in terms of bending the rules of the world it created. I see sometimes first omen compared as in the original post to Rosemary's baby and Possession, but in my view it is an unfortunate comparison. In Ira Levin's book closely followed by Roman Polanski's adaptation we follow an unreliable narrator. It is heavily implied that there is nothing supernatural happening in the story. It is just Rosemary scared by her complicated pregnancy imagining things and losing her wits. I watched Possession ages ago but I think there is also no supernatural in that film either. In Omen supernatural is alive and well :-)

@@SanderusOnly really came here to bitch about the movie. Saw it last night and just don't get all the praise. However, now I'm here, the writer and director of the 76 movie often butted heads because the writer wanted everything to be ambiguous. He wanted to put forth the idea that Damien may not actually be the devil's son and that all the deaths are bizarre, tragic accidents. Obviously, Richard Donner won that fight. Lol.

I’ve seen a lot of people have a problem with the Jackal being the father instead of the mother like it alludes to in the original, but I personally didn’t have an issue with it and thought it made perfect sense. I think that those extra stories to tell could be the convent trying to find Margaret and the girls since they know she made it out of the fire. I also found it fascinating that both The First Omen and Immaculate came out so close together and are inverses of each other. The birth of the second coming of Christ and the Antichrist. Overall, I loved this movie and Nell Tiger Free was amazing. Especially in the 3rd act.

I think for me the issue was that father Brennan said Damien’s mother was a jackal in the original. Considering he was in this one and knows exactly what was going on then it does make things a bit messy 😂. You mention about all the cogs fitting and The Omen can perfectly follow on from The First Omen. In The Omen, Father Brennan states that Damien’s mother was a Jackal. Even when they went to go and dig up the ‘mothers’ grave, they found the carcass of the animal. Is that a continuity error or did I miss something?

You wre on point. In fact, they tried to make it work when they show in the flames of the burning room a jackal. Blink and you miss it. So, they tried to imply that the demon was sort of a jackal and that explains why Damien has jackal´s cells. But no. It doesn´t fix it.
What they could have done was to have Margaret gave birth to an actual jackal and that one (either that same night or not have the Prequel take place in the same night) gave birth to Damien..

I am very well aware of who she is since i watched both GAME OF THRONES and TOO OLD TO DIE YOUNG. My idea of her was of a solid young actress and that's it. But right from the begining she was a comanding presrnce, very movie star like, a very interesting and compelling ptotagonist and she carries the lead role duties effortlessly. The camera just loves her. Savevfor the pre-titles sequence and a montage at the end, she is in every scene un the movie and never once she is the weak link. For me she is the first and stringest reason i enjoyed the movie. This is also the first work she is in that did show just how tall she actually is and i have a huge weak spot for tall beauties. 😊

I've heard good things about this. It's rare that you hear the term "proper prequel" but that's being thrown around. Hopefully it's as good as I think but I'll find out soon.

I just finished this movie about 30 minutes ago. While i think its a very good movie. There were 2 things that bothered me. 1: Some times the acting was just not convincing. For instance: When Margaret is giving birth to the babies and they're cutting her open. She keeps asking for help and saying "I'm in pain" in like a whispery voice. And i'm watching that scene and thinking to myself.. you don't sound like you're in pain. They literally cut her open with a scalpel and they're pulling the kid out of her body. And she doesn't scream like a normal person would.
2nd thing that bothered me: The twist where she's the baby in the photo was so predictable. They tried so hard to convince me that, Carlita was the baby. But come on... The main character literally has visions. She can see the dead and you expect me to believe this other girl who's done nothing but draw creepy pictures is the person the sisters were looking for? I don't think so.

Why is no one talking about the guy pinned between the wall and the truck?? That was realistic horror. I feel like that scene was this movie’s scene parallel to the original Omen’s decapitation scene. I felt sick while watching.

The ending felt like it meant to be a post credit studio add on.. but it could easily be a "re-quel" where it cancels out the Omen 2 and 3.. and starts its own.. now traditionally those movies arnt done well, (looking at you halloween) but neither are prequels, but this nailed it.. also, what a directional debut (features)

Ok, ok, I’ll give it a look-see. Much as I enjoy the big screen and great sound, I really prefer watching at home and utilizing the subtitles. It makes me crazy when I cannot understand the dialogue because of strong accent or mumbling actor. Both might send me over the edge! This is why I was always a fan of the sub-run theaters that only charged $1 or $2 per ticket, you got the real theatrical experience without breaking the bank, and then if I liked the movie I could watch at home with the subtitles ON and pick up on plot points I may have missed in theater. Really do miss those cheap seats!

Cody you need to write your own movie. It’s funny that Hollywood has done this twin film thing so many times.
    Deep impact-Armageddon
    Turner and hooch- K-9
    Powder- phenomenon
    Dautes peak- volcano
    Antz- a bugs life
    Truman show- edtv
    Dark city- the matrix
    Red eye- flightplan
    Prestige- illusionist
No strings attached- friends with benefits
Olympus has fallen- White House down
    Violent night- fatman
Like it’s like they do this on purpose to make movie off the idea twice over.

The balcony scene with Nun,reminiscent of the"Look at me Damien,it's all for you"but not as impactful, and more so because she was just normal and didn't look like Golum,I've not watched the entire film, but it's not bad,I'm of the age to have seen the original in the cinema when it was originally released in 76,and have re-seen it I've lost count how many time's,this however I don't think I'll be re-watching,I just liked the original better. And I suppose, there is the additional factor of the original being filmed close to where I live.

    SPOILER:
I thought the reason they explained for their efforts to induce the antichrist took all the kick, fear and mystery out of the original story. Also one of the reasons the original was so terrifying is nothing supernatural happened on screen. It's just the devil sorting everything out in the background. When I saw the hand and the jackal I was like naah. The lead actress and Father Brennan actor were both amazing though. It was really well made and cinematography was beautiful.

Saw it Sunday night and convinced my non horror fan husband to go with me. I thought it was very nicely done. It was a slow burn but made up for it in the 3rd act. I wasn't surprised by the outcome at all but it was still revealed nicely. I had some questions though about the last scene. It was unnecessary and I am confused as to where they need to go with it.

I agree. My thought is that if The First Omen was a prequel to an upcoming remake of The Omen I wouldn’t have minded the last scene but since they are directly tying it to the original film I agree they should’ve ended the film with Damien being given to the doctor.

Actually there’s a big inconsistency into the 1976 film that’s contradicting and confusing. 1976 Omen: Damien’s mother is a Jackal. The First Omen: Damien’s mother is Margaret ….and the father is a Jackal….looks more like a Lycan from Underworld but ok….i did not like what they did there. Besides that it was well done.
