Well I think that was the Jackal. That whole demon was the Jackal. It was a retcon because in the original the Jackal supposedly birthed Damien, but in this one the Jackal impregnated Margaret. Brennon mentioned the Jackal in the first act, I'm pretty sure. They even showed the Jackal in the fire at the end. I definitely don't think it was a demon, I think that was full on the Jackal. I also have a theory that in The Omen (1976) when Brennon told Robert that Damien's mother was a Jackal was a way to protect Margaret and Carlita.
Exactly. We briefly see the Jackal that impregnated Margaret at the end when the curtains burn down and the Jackal is shown on fire, and Margaret sees it too.
The thing is that the demon was humanoid. They showed his hands on multiple scenes prior and also when they showed it having sex with another woman. This had my favorite possession scene ever. Her physical acting or the stunt double outside the car when it was happening was just epic. Not over the top but clearly unnatural like something literally is fighting for control. Juat stumbling around on the street like some horrible acid trip. It just worked for me 😅
Bruh Damian is still a son of the jackal. Margaret was SAed by the jackal and gave birth to him. What if they put the jackal bones in his mom's tomb to cover up what really happened
I'm glad you're saying this is good because a) I have a huge crush on the lead and b) I think the Omen is a slept on feature. But I realized I hate the title when I saw a post on reddit that said 'What did you think of The First Omen'. This is a meme at this point for people who title movies. They're torturing me.
“The lore of ‘The Omen’” is such an amusing phrase to me because my first instinct was, “You mean, Christianity?” 😅 I’ve gotta check this out, thanks for the recommendation
The jackal thing can easily be worked around with saying the jackal was possesed and thus the demon............... The crap about a church creating an antichrist to make people scared and turn back to them is harder to wrap my head around. Like what happens when people come back and you can't defeated what you created?
Because it's prophesied that it'll be defeated. You have evangelicals right this minute hoping for WW3 to bring about the end of days. They don't care how it happens or what hell it unleashes because they believe they'll be saved.
If there’s an Antichrist, an evil force, then there is a force of Good, or, let’s say, the force of Faith clashing against it. Now that the Church conspiracy have led to evil incarnate, they can control and channel its growth (as seen in the original Omen installments) and create a scenario using their own forces. In the original movies, they have an instruments and a modality to kill Damien, but the executors were stopped just before they could…
@@anubusx Precisely. More so because this wasn´t anything minor. It was the core of the trilogy. If the original hadn´t shown the jackal´s skelleton THEN this one could have gotten away with it. But that wasn´t the case.

I'm genuinely pleasantly surprised! I'm afraid to be excited but I might actually go see this in the cinema. The og omen is only 2 years older than me. That this could be the best Omen in approx half a century is wild and also makes me feel old like Jaime Lee Curtis in Freaky Friday 😱😱 I digress. Yay!

I saw the movie yesterday and it’s a MUST SEE for horror fans! I agree the first act is a little slow. But the cinematography is so beautiful that even the slow parts are a feast for the eyes. Towards the middle and end the movie is just non stop disturbing and I loved it
SPOILER-ISH// Hey bud I really appreciate the spoiler section and the (unintentional? lol) trigger warning about SA in the film! It’s not inherently a deal breaker for me (depending on how it’s handled) but I do appreciate a heads up going in. Thanks! Anyway, as I’ve never seen the original Omen I’m not worried about retcons, so I think I’ll enjoy this film! Bout time we got some good horror this year. EDIT: holy crap I love your commentary on the MPAA’s bs as well. As Kevin Smith has said, it’s less offensive for a film to show violent r*pe than a woman experiencing an O. It’s really quite warped. Glad I subscribed!
I kept getting wrapped up in the drama aspect of a young girl about to give herself to God but leeting lose before, that I kinda kept forgetting in parts it was a horror film. I kinda liked the normal drama aspects more than the horror.
I really was also pleasantly impressed with this film. The retcon was a minor problem for me but I think it is actually a more complex and sinister origin for Damien than the original film. I like your interpretation that the demon at the end was a jackal. Would also love a sequel that is completely separate from the OG trilogy and focuses on the implications in the conclusion of the film.
Just watched this movie, I loved it. I was skeptical of what they would do with the jackal part but I was pleased to see that yes there was in fact a Jackal. I thot for a moment during her pre-birthing scene outside of the car, she was actually going to turn into the jackal cause I thought I could hear feral “dog” growling barks coming from her as her body was contorting. It was creepy and beautiful, the beginning was a bit long but I was just overtaken by the beauty of the imagery and scenes that were shot. That made the slow burn very enjoyable
So glad to hear another RUclipsr praise this movie. I too had low expectations and was blown away by its acting and visual language. You mentioned a "Dreamscape" and I think that's apt, because from jump the movie feels both dreamlike and nightmarish and the directing does great work putting that across in every scene. I talked about it in a recent video and it was one of those horror surprises I crave as a horror buff but don't often get. I dug your analysis! Subbed to your channel.
I just finished watching it. A tad predictable. I guessed that Margaret would turn out to be Damian's mother and I kept calling things out before they happened. But that really didn't stop me from enjoying it. It really built up the tension and atmosphere and Nel Tiger Free did a great job. The bit towards the end when she's convulsing and foaming at the mouth as her stomach grows into a pregnant belly was awesome and creepy AF. I might have to put it on my yearly Halloween watch list

I love the movie but what they did wasn´t a simple retcon. Not only was it shown in the first movie but the sequels also dealt with it: the second by the doctors discovering the jackal´s cells on Damien´s blood and the third by Damien himself praising it. Besides, it isn´t like a retcon in comics where it can be done 1. By just mentioning that something was different yet when you go back and read the same old comics doesn´t change it or 2. By having it, somehow, consistent to the original context. For instance, Wonder Woman´s origins. Most people will know by now (either from the comics since 2011 or the movies) that she is a demigoddess but that wasn´t always the case. Since her creation in 1941 her origin was that the Queen of the Amazons sculpted a baby out of clay and asked the gods to give her life. The way it was changed is that, in reality, she was conceived by Zeus but the Queen spread the rumors of the clay creation so that Hera wouldn´t go against Hera and WW. That´s how you retconned something. In this way both origins remain valid. In The First Omen they could have, at the very least, shown or said that they were going to place the skelleton of a jackal to validate the story. More so, since, they "somehow" could have gotten away with it because in the scene where Maragarete is escaping and all is on fire they show (briefly) a jackal. As such, the fact that Damien had jackal´s cells would still have been true. ...and no, the demon wasn´t a jackal. They showed that it was humanoid. More so, you say that in your head cannon they placed the remainings of the demon in the grave. Then how come they didn´t discovered that the remains of Margarete and the baby girl weren´t there? There was also a HUGE thing that didn´t make sense. Damien couldn´t go into the church as a baby. He´d physically suffered. Yet, here we have Margarete that managed to become, basically, a Nun. And even Carlita was raised in a Catholic orphanage. And it wasn´t a problem for them. Still, I wish the movie is a success because it was amazing on its own and, maybe, with a sequel they could fix what they messed here so that First Omen and The Omen don´t contradict each other. What I´d do for a sequel is to make Damien´s sister be Kate. The reporter from The Omen 3.
It wasn't a retcon at all just going by jackal. If you read wiki a handful of ppl never believed jackal in grave was Damien mother and Robert thorn says a line that confused issue. Now nobody said Damien wasn't part jackal it's just not the one in grave. So all this movie did was specify which jackal. Or rather which definition of jackal. The reason Margaret and Carlita can be nuns, they are just women. My guess is they skip over women but Margaret and Carlita were only good for breeding and if they were more human then their mothers weren't part jackal. That's why, that's not that hard to imagine. Also look at Delia, damiens daughter, she had powers she was side seat to younger twin Alexander, another male, so apparently they don't use women. It would be cool if sister ended up being Kate then it would explain Delia's powers even more, but that's prolly not it. But how do you imagine to fix timeline. Damien is 32 in 1971 oh ps I think it's implied in end one of nuns was Margaret's mother
The worst part is that the movie itself is amazing. And if they were to change the story they should have thought of a reasonable way to make it so. More so when the movie was in development since 2016.
Excellent, thorough review! I saw this last night. Thought I liked it a lot, but when woke up this morning all I could think about was the movie. It’s actually pretty great. 🍿
Great movie and it did make me revisit the Omen movie Catalogue but I couldn't find IV which is a blessing That said, the books of Omen IV (zero relation to the movie) & Omen V are solid
*SPOILERS* I took it as the Jackal *was* the demon kept in the basement. They reffer to it as a jackal, the creature itself is mostly kept in shadows, and it burns to death in the end. The name "Scianna" also appears to belong to it, since that was the last name linking all of the creature's kids, tying it into the "Maria Scianna" tomb seen in the original movie. It was a fake alias meant to cover up the church's direct involvement in Damien's birth. In my head cannon, Brennan probably reffered to the jackal as Damien's mom to come across as more urgent to Robert Thorn, despite it not being 100% wrong. Does gender even apply to demons? That's an entirely different question lmao.
Full disclosure, I haven't seen the movie yet but I am planning to. From what I am hearing and stuff I am really disappointment that they didn't take more information from the book. According to the book, Brennen not only witnessed the birth, he's the one who killed the jackal and Thorn's child. He's also the one (or it was Mrs. Baylock) who shaved off all the hair on Damien's entire body (given he's born of a jackal) and thought Thorn's baby looked too innocent and hesitated to kill him by smashing his head. He even wanted to runaway with the child but realized he had a duty to fulfill. To somehow make him a good guy and working in favor of Margaret doesn't sit well with me. I think if these scenes were added, loyal fans would have been more thrilled. It can still be a good movie but loyal fans like me would have been more thrilled to see Mrs. Baylock and all that.
It shouldn't be like book because movie verse and books are diff. Last 2 books deviate from last movies so why make a prequel movie follow a book, nope nope
@@AshePBlack and how successful was that movie, or those books? True fans keep on calling it "The Omen Trilogy". They should have used a new character instead of Brennan. Even if you only account for the movie, Brennan states he witnessed the birth, the mother was a jackal. Throughout the 1976 movie he appeared really guilty. What was he guilty about? Why was there 666 Mark on him? It doesn't make sense. BTW I have seen the movie now and my opinion remains the same. The only thing they did well, in connection to the original, was the casting of Spilleto and reviving Ave Satani. It is a good movie, just not a good prequel to The Omen.
Hi Evan, agree with most of your review, especially the atmosphere and cinematography. However, these weaknesses took it away from being great IMO: 1. Why were both Margaret and Carlita children of the demon? I mean since there is an age difference, why didn't they keep Margaret at the convent and pursue their plot with her rather than try again years later with Carlita? Also, why couldn't the demon just mate with a woman to create Damien? Why did the demon need to father both Damien and his mother? 2. The entire Margaret plot was lifted from this movie that came out the same year as the original "Omen": en.wikipedia.org/wiki/To_the_Devil_a_Daughter. You could call The First Omen a remake of this just as much as an Omen prequel. 3. The Damien sister-twin at the end was dumb. It was as dumb as Omen IV with Damien's daughter. What role could his demonic sister or daughter play? This sister is never a plot point of the first three movies.
@@carlodonn8983 I guess that’s subjective. I mean, she technically was a Jackal. And I don’t expect this film to adhere to all of the sequels. I was mainly only considering the original. And to be honest I’m sure a film in-between could make proper connections and determine what we saw in the grave and the sister. Since Damien was very young, about the sisters age at the end of the first.
How was the mother technically a jackal?? Lol. There were other huge plot holes . Father braing was not at the hospital and did not witness the birth. Plus, he was a deciple of santin in the original and had the birth mark 666. So having Damien have a real mother and twin sister was never mentioned by him in the other films? Plus, the comet that took place in the original before he born?? The fact it was the church f That created the anti christ and not the predictions from the bible? So what was the jackal in the grave in the original film?? Yeah, it all fits perfectly???
Plus, father braning was a deciple of satin in the original. He had the birthmark 666. He was not at the hospital and did not witness the birth?? The church did not create the devil child in the original it was all predicted by the Bible .. He clearly says damians mother was a jackal. You clearly see the jackal bones in the mothers grave. Plus, what about the comet before Damien wa original s born that was mentioned in the original. I agree that the film may not be cannon. To the sequels. But they are some of the plot holes just from the original. To me, this film is not cannon, and I will ignore it.
Just saw the movie, I loved it. Nell Tiger Free was amazing! I also loved her in “Servant” on Apple TV. I think it did have that old school horror kind of vibe which made it so great. Can’t wait to see it again. 😈
I also went and just watched it. I really enjoyed it. With the whole jackal discussion; first off, the demon is clearly a jackal at the end of the fire. But also, when the babies in her belly grew, and she fought the evil inside her. Where she had those jerky movements right after the carcrash. She makes barking, low ballowing sound like a hound/jackal. And when I saw the Jackal in the fire at the end, it moved very simmilair as she was, in the scene i mentioned above. Vlearly reeridarating, that she and clarita, are the offspring of the jackal, but because they are female, they are not the host of the demon. But kind of psychic in a way. Margarite seems to me as she has a kind of way to feel evil, as danger, when she isn't aware she is seeing things that she is conditioned to ignore. Carlita is not thought to ignore it. I would love to have a spin of serious from this. That has nothing to do with Damian, but just with the little Anty-Satan-God Family. Whiöe fleeing from the evil church that is hunting them and hunting demons. That wpuld be kinda badass. Who knows?
HOLY SHIT DID I ENJOY THIS. I though it was gonna suck and I had no respect for it.. and then I saw it and I was blown over haha. The last 20 mins is just .....nice.
She was just a regular maid/nanny, not a brainwashed one. She was like magically forced to do it by that hell hound at the birthday party so that Mrs. Baylock could take over.
I love The First Omen. It wasn't a prequel that I asked for, but I'm damn sure glad that we got it. I don't know if I enjoyed it more than Late Night With The Devil. I'll have to revisit them both and make my decision. Great stuff.
the demon was the Jackal! At the end when she is watching the demon be engulfed in flames you can see it looks like a demonic jackal (werewolf-esque). I could see it being easy to miss, but it jogged my memory about the whole Jackal element,
The size difference in the jackal bones😂 idk why it’s so funny. I really liked this movie, gave it a 4/5 stars just cuz it lost some points with the marvel ending. I haven’t heard too many reviews mention it, but I loved the throwback opening of this movie. I thought it was one of the most ominous scenes. The first birth scene was almost too much for me, it was gnarly
I love how you touched up on the lore and the apparent differences they made. I guess having the antichrist birth from a virgin trope has been cemented in such movies so i had to problem with that here. Atleast they made the demon a jackal so atleast it still connects a bit to thr original film. As much as I love the radicals. It would have beem better if they stick to the satanist group.
I expected rubbish, went to the movie for kicks and giggles and was massively surprised how good the movie was. It is good as far as plot goes, the lead actress gave a very good performance. The film was beautifully shot, with a lot of love to the original. When the original music kicks in it fits this movie excellently.
The scene that i found the most uncomfortable in this movie is when we have a sort of flashback of what happened the night Margaret passed out at the club. It felt like the shot of her face hanging still held on for too long, it was eerie
Enjoyed that, thanks. I agree that the "new reason" for the existence of Damien was a good and interesting one. Also I came to the same conclusion about the grave of Damien's mother actually being his father (we could be made to think we only assume that's Damien's mother in the grave). The only plot point I really struggle to come to terms with is Father Brennan's role in the prequel. We know from The Omen that he bears the 666 birthmark, and he is also very clear that he was present at the birth, and we are left in no doubt he was involved in bringing Damien in to the world. In The First Omen he seems to have no part in it, wasn't present at Damien's birth, and was actively against the whole idea. This is the part I'm struggling with.
In my head I think I could work the Brennan conundrum out a bit so as to have it make sense for me. I don't think it's too hard to believe that Brennan had the mark because he was branded in his early years as a priest, initially he was part of the conspiracy (it makes sense that this is how be first became aware of the plan), albeit not part of the inner circle, explaining why he doesn't know about the particulars. Just because we don't see any of the other "faithful" with a mark doesn't mean they didn't have one. Now given the retcon and the introduction of the twin sister and the fact Damien's mother is still alive (at least by the end of this movie), Brennan's confrontation with Robert Thorn in the original could be seen this way: In the few years between the end of the movie and the meeting in the original Brennan likely has had to act as a shield for Margaret and her daughter, he created a new narrative for the events of the night of Damien's birth. We know from the original that everyone involved with the original conspiracy is dead, except for Father Spiletto, so there is no one else who actually knows the truth. That actually includes Brennan. He actually wasn't there, but for the purposes of protecting Damien's sister and mother, he invents "the jackal" as the mother, it's a well-known satanic trope, certainly one he'd be familiar with as a catholic priest. It's even possible that Brennan himself was responsible for the jackal bones being in the grave. In regards to his claims of being at the birth, I think through a combination of Catholic guilt (he failed to prevent Damien's birth afterall) and desperately needing to convince Thorn as to the reality of his son. I think Brennan would have told Robert anything to get him to believe him but perhaps knew deep down that this wasn't going to work, that Robert would likely fail to stop his son from ascending. Brennan had to know that putting himself directly back into Damien's orbit was going to be the end of him so he tried this tactic as a final gambit to perhaps try and prevent an otherwise inevitable confrontation between Damien and his sister. He likely sees the sister as the key to destroying Damien ultimately but maybe wants to try and spare her that dangerous future.
The whole problem with Damien’s mother not being a jackal just turns this into “what if rosemarys baby was in the omen universe?” Which most people find lazy and uninteresting
Excellent review of a fantastic movie! I was so surprised by the quality of this movie. To me it was like a hybrid of The Omen (original) and Rosemary’s Baby. I’d actually love to see you do a review of Rosemary’s Baby at some stage.
I’ve only seen the original film once but I’ve read the novelization at least a dozen times. The retconning also (surprisingly, because omg I hate a retcon) didn’t bother me, it was so well done. I really enjoyed the movie. No way was it better than Late Night With the Devil, though. 😜
Satan impregnated a Jakal which gave birth to Damian. That was the point of the whole Omen series In the final Conflict Damian ''While you were born of an impotent God, I was born of a Jakal.'
6:43 I watched Immaculate after The First Omen and had the same thoughts about the start being a bit slow and boring. Maybe that goes to show that releasing similar albeit great movies right after one another isn't the best thing for audiences.

Its Biblecal horror and right up there with The Exorcist, a small, haunting film directed by Bill Paxton and starring him as well. And Mathew McConnehay, probably misspelled his name. Those Omen movies are good to watch. Omen II was my favorite as a kid.
I’m so glad I found your channel. I absolutely love how you talk about films. It feels like having a conversation with someone very well-read on film and who can teach me something without coming off any kind of way. You’re awesome.
This had my favorite possession scene ever. Her physical acting or the stunt double outside the car when it was happening was just epic. Not over the top but clearly unnatural like something literally is fighting for control. Juat stumbling around on the street like some horrible acid trip. It just worked for me 😅
I really liked it. The final act... Wow.
Right??
I have watched The Exorcist TV series and I really enjoyed it, not saw Damien TV show which is from The Omen series hopefully it will be just as good!
Bruh Damian is still a son of the jackal. Margaret was SAed by the jackal and gave birth to him. What if they put the jackal bones in his mom's tomb to cover up what really happened
Yeah I said that’s what I think happened
Me too. However if they make film on jackal origins I won't be impressed and I got a idea how they made it
I'm glad you're saying this is good because a) I have a huge crush on the lead and b) I think the Omen is a slept on feature.
But I realized I hate the title when I saw a post on reddit that said 'What did you think of The First Omen'. This is a meme at this point for people who title movies. They're torturing me.
This channel is the definition of underrate 😯😯
I also was very pleasantly surprised by the film and it’s quality. Very engaging and well done.
It ruins everything about the idea of the prophecy involving the Antichrist.
Because it's prophesied that it'll be defeated. You have evangelicals right this minute hoping for WW3 to bring about the end of days. They don't care how it happens or what hell it unleashes because they believe they'll be saved.
The film was terrible. Full of plot holes to the original film!! @@anubusx
I saw this on Hulu about a month ago. I wasn't expecting much, but i was pleasantly surprised at how good this was. It kept my interest the whole film. Very beautifully filmed and the main actress was amazing.
Yay!
@XianS2019 Aw really? Tired of Omen and The Exorcist playing with my emotions. 😭🤣
I love finding a horror lover who appreciates the little things in a movie and the experience that matches my own. This was probably my favorite of the year too. Huge fan of the original franchise and the second movie "Damien" was always my fav. This one instantly made me love it. New subscriber. :) Thanks!
Ah thank you! Very kind of you to say
Great review man! Can't wait to see this one in theatres over the weekend (& the second part of this video of course lol)!!
Thanks Jonathan!
Just saw it last night and your review is bang on with my own thoughts! :) SO GOOD!!
I really must compliment the Rocklin Grave series… Evan, you have a great cadence to your voice and excellent insight in your analysis. On top of that, you keep a great balance between making valid points, keeping it fun and getting to the point. Very professional production!!! Please keep up the great work!!!
Definitely agree. More intresting motivation for brining the Antichrist, which is why this is my favorite omen movie
I rented the first omen after watching this review so thanks for the recomendation
I saw the movie yesterday and it’s a MUST SEE for horror fans! I agree the first act is a little slow. But the cinematography is so beautiful that even the slow parts are a feast for the eyes. Towards the middle and end the movie is just non stop disturbing and I loved it
Nell definitely deserves more recognition
SPOILER-ISH//
Hey bud I really appreciate the spoiler section and the (unintentional? lol) trigger warning about SA in the film!
Ah thanks for the kind words! Really appreciate it
I kept getting wrapped up in the drama aspect of a young girl about to give herself to God but leeting lose before, that I kinda kept forgetting in parts it was a horror film.
I kinda liked the normal drama aspects more than the horror.
Excellent review, and film. Blew me away tbh. Nell was ASTONISHING. Subbed.
I liked it. Nice to see others did too. If I didn't want children to begin with, this would have done it.
Well they either let breeding thing fizzle or need new jackal. But they didn't know Damien would have twins so...
I was shocked at how much I loved this.
This movie was awesome some of the best cinematography I've seen in a while. Love your channel man, and I like the non-spoiler / spoiler sections 🎃
I mean technically Margaret is half-jackal, so it's still 50% true
Yup there's that too. But with all whining on jackal did nobody miss timeline error? 1971 Damien is 32
@AshePBlack what are you talking about? Damien is 5 years old in 1976.... this movie takes place in 1971.
kinda wish I could forget about this movie to experience it again for the first time
Just watched this movie, I loved it.
I am a big fan of the original; I need to see this now with your take. 👌
I started watching Indonesian and Thai films. Seeing religious horror from another religious perspective is FANTASTIC.
This has got me so pumped to see it!
Oh hell yes if you covered this. Thumbs up before I even listen to the review. Somebody spread the word about this guy👍👍
Alright! I’ll pause at the spoiler section and go see it tomorrow night. I’ll be back!
EDIT: I’m back. It was good. Go watch it. When that score kicks in at that one part… bruh. And great shots throughout! Frfr
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I think the twin sister is about Omen IV and i think we don't talk about that out here
The retcons and the member berries were very odd choices, for a film that in large part was quite competent in an art house kind of way
The worst part is that the movie itself is amazing. And if they were to change the story they should have thought of a reasonable way to make it so. More so when the movie was in development since 2016.
The director is why this movie is so good. And Nell tiger of course.
Clear Critique channel brought me here. He mentioned this film in his horror review list. What a great film.
Just got my ticket. Super excited.
Excellent, thorough review! I saw this last night. Thought I liked it a lot, but when woke up this morning all I could think about was the movie. It’s actually pretty great. 🍿
The last scene before the birth felt very possession inspired
Great movie and it did make me revisit the Omen movie Catalogue but I couldn't find IV which is a blessing
That said, the books of Omen IV (zero relation to the movie) & Omen V are solid
*SPOILERS*
I took it as the Jackal *was* the demon kept in the basement.
However, these weaknesses took it away from being great IMO:
I loved it too! I thought the story was very clever and totally worked for me.
So you did not mind the huge plot holes that contradict the original classic??
The fact it was the church f
That created the anti christ and not the predictions from the bible? So what was the jackal in the grave in the original film?? Yeah, it all fits perfectly???
@@CrystalClevelandYT how was the mother technically a jackal?
Plus, father braning was a deciple of satin in the original. He had the birthmark 666. He was not at the hospital and did not witness the birth?? The church did not create the devil child in the original it was all predicted by the Bible .. He clearly says damians mother was a jackal. You clearly see the jackal bones in the mothers grave. Plus, what about the comet before Damien wa original s born that was mentioned in the original. I agree that the film may not be cannon. To the sequels. But they are some of the plot holes just from the original. To me, this film is not cannon, and I will ignore it.
I seen this on disney plus with hulu and the original back to back
Just saw the movie, I loved it. Nell Tiger Free was amazing! I also loved her in “Servant” on Apple TV. I think it did have that old school horror kind of vibe which made it so great. Can’t wait to see it again. 😈
I never seen original Omen but this movie was just amazing??? Like for real this movie was sooooo gooood
Thank you for talking about the age rating and about women beeing so heavily sexualized. This makes me admire your feedback even more. Thank you! ❤
I really thought the main lead was gonna be the maid/nanny that hangs herself in the original and her backstory about how she became brainwashed
I could see it being easy to miss, but it jogged my memory about the whole Jackal element,
Yeah I saw that, but what I was saying is that he’s not birthed by one anymore
The size difference in the jackal bones😂 idk why it’s so funny. I really liked this movie, gave it a 4/5 stars just cuz it lost some points with the marvel ending. I haven’t heard too many reviews mention it, but I loved the throwback opening of this movie. I thought it was one of the most ominous scenes. The first birth scene was almost too much for me, it was gnarly
I loved this movie I’ve been watching any and all content about it since then, also this video is really well done looking forward to future videos!
Thank you!
I’d say go support this film. It was pretty good!
I looooved this film and really enjoyed this review - thank you!
Great video. Considering I'd never even heard of this movie until recently, terrible marketing,I'm looking forward to it.
Wonderful surprise!!!
Nah, I had the feeling all the time, like, Dude, where´s my Jackal???
another great review !! great job Pal
The whole problem with Damien’s mother not being a jackal just turns this into “what if rosemarys baby was in the omen universe?” Which most people find lazy and uninteresting
See at end with twins I thought rae and kylo or the devils twin daughters from penny dreadful comics, at least so far omen serries favors males
Been loving your content man! First found ya from your Halloween reviews but your love for all things horror has kept me hooked🙌keep it up!
I was eh on Immaculate, but loved this 🤷♂️
Excellent review of a fantastic movie! I was so surprised by the quality of this movie. To me it was like a hybrid of The Omen (original) and Rosemary’s Baby. I’d actually love to see you do a review of Rosemary’s Baby at some stage.
Thanks for the video
The movie was great!!! I'm watching it again next week
I’ve only seen the original film once but I’ve read the novelization at least a dozen times. The retconning also (surprisingly, because omg I hate a retcon) didn’t bother me, it was so well done. I really enjoyed the movie. No way was it better than Late Night With the Devil, though. 😜
Books are own timeline or universe though, movies are movies because last 2 books deviate on purpose from movies
Hey dude, just discovered your channel and subbed; awesome videos, keep it up!
The 35 mm was dope man. Absolutely fantastic movie.
Satan impregnated a Jakal which gave birth to Damian. That was the point of the whole Omen series In the final Conflict Damian ''While you were born of an impotent God, I was born of a Jakal.'
I petition for them to name the twin sister Jacqueline
I still can't believe how good this film was. Horror is alive and well 🚬
They really should have had Mrs. Baylcok in this...bad choice not to!
My favorite franchise 😊
6:43 I watched Immaculate after The First Omen and had the same thoughts about the start being a bit slow and boring. Maybe that goes to show that releasing similar albeit great movies right after one another isn't the best thing for audiences.
Evan, in 2002, i saw a horror movie called Frailty, have you by chance seen it? Its Biblecal horror and right up there with The Exorcist, a small, haunting film directed by Bill Paxton and starring him as well. And Mathew McConnehay, probably misspelled his name. I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it. Little or no gore, just a tight, somewhat unnerving story. Check it out. Would love your take on it.
